A glimpse at my next project

Pin It Now!

I got this headboard for free on Craigslist.org. I'm going to strip it and add the cherub swag applique to the middle, with the cherubs raised above the wood a little. The applique look small in this picture but it is 19"wide by 8" high. The rose vine, which is 7" wide by 1" high will be bent to go along the curves at the top on each side. Then everything will be painted white and then shabby'ed up a bit. I ordered the appliques yesterday from Do it yourself chic.com Also, see the dark furniture in the background? That is getting painted white also. I did the nightstand last weekend but I have to repaint it because the color I chose (Martha Stewart Wicker White) is too yellow. I've ordered a new quilt on Ebay and the background color is snow-white so I don't want yellow furniture next to it. As you can tell, I'm doing a whole bedroom makeover! Of course I'll be posting before and after pictures when it's complete.

Can you see my dog, Beau, in the picture? He's in his favorite spot, looking out the window. My bedroom is on the second floor so he gets a bird's eye view from there.

I'm excited! Sounds like a big project, but one that will be worth all the work. Hope Beau likes it, too.

Quite the undertaking. But it sounds like it will be beautiful when all is completed.

Oh, I can't wait to see the "after" shots! What a great diy site that is. I want to do something similar to a bookshelf, but I've been nervous to try.

Hi Cindy. The headboard on my bed looks almost identical to yours. I've debated about painting it, so I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

Thanks for entering the One World One Heart drawing!
