Questions, Comments?

Pin It Now!

Usually every week I pretty much know what I'll be blogging about all week but this week I really have no clue! I'm not really working on any projects and I didn't go anywhere fun this weekend, except for the Santa Cruz Flea Market but I didn't take my camera with me. The highlight of the weekend? I bought Lauren a Nintendo Wii finally and I got Wii Fit Plus and now my arms and legs are sore from riding the bike and flying...sorry, if you don't have a Wii Fit Plus you probably have no idea what I'm talking about...

I thought rather than not blog all week, I'll see if you have any questions for me. Feel free to ask anything! I'm not a super private person so chances are I will answer it...I think. Also, this is a chance for you to give me feedback about my blog...what do you like, what do you dislike? The negative comments don't even bother me as much as they used to...I guess that's the true test of a seasoned blogger. After almost 5 years of blogging I no longer end up shaken to my core with mean words...I do prefer constructive criticism though! This is your chance...
I'll answer the questions tomorrow and if more come in after that then I'll answer those later.

Hi Cindy...I LOVE your blog. As a matter of fact, it was the very first one I discovered when I fell down the blog rabbit hole! Before that, I knew nothing, absolutely nothing, about blogging, blogland, or bloggers! I love your photos and heariong about your excursions. Would love it if you could share more on how to do things such as make photos bigger, do links, etc. To those of us who are new at this, those kinds of challenges are big! Don't have a clue how to do them. So it would be great if you could do a HOW TO column, now and then, for new bloggers! Just a suggestion. So thanks, Cindy, and I hope you have a great week. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

Hi Cindy,
You know Im a HUGE fan of your blog! I only have one suggestion, if you could please change your header more often. I see other blogs that change them about every 4-6 months or so and it is very refreshing. And if you could add more recipes.. the ones you post are awesome!!!

Thanks for all your info and beautiful things you post!!!

I think your blog is wonderful! Having never been to California it gives me a glimpse of CA life :). You have alot of blue in your house which I love and I was wondering what color blue do you use? It is such a peaceful shade.

I saw you mention a while back that you were going to start dating! I have a good friend who's in her late 40's and her dating stories are so much fun to hear.
I'd love to see more tips of how you made your outdoor space so lush and beautiful, we have a tiny deck so that would be so awesome if you shared more gardening tips.
What I love most about your blog is your living situation is so much more realistic for me. I drool over a lot of other blogs but they're just not realistic or do-able for me. You've shown me that you can have an AMAZING home with a small budget and some elbow grease and you've also shown me that you do not have to own something to make it home!

Everything is gorgeous on your blog. Tons of eye candy. Unless I missed it, I would love detailed tutorials of the things you do. Maybe easy upfront links on the sidebar. You are an inspirations to all of us bloggers out there. Thanks!

Cindy, I absolutely love your blog. I am new to the blogging world. I've started one but am still learning how to get things set up on it. I completely agree with what some of the other ladies have said about what an inspiration you are. I am completely amazed at how you have transformed a rental into a beautiful showpiece. I love seeing your decorating ideas, but would be interested in more techniques. Thank you so much for your willingness to share with us. Have a wonderful week.

Hi Cindy - I have only wonderful things to say. You are one of the first bloggers I stumbled upon and you are still my favorite - I look forward to clicking on "My Romantic Home" everyday. One thing that makes you stand out, is the fact that you always include photos and they are GOOD ones at that. It makes a huge difference for me. I feel like you are one of my best friends - too bad we live on opposite coasts - we'd make wonderful neighbors. How is the etsy shop going? Are you making enough money to make a difference. That does intrigue me. I am always looking to make extra $$$$$

Cindy, I refer to your blog on occasions on pics your layout and how to do things. I have mentioned we have different styles, but I envy what you have done. When you first started blogging I am sure you found it easy to go from blog to blog to comment back. One thing I have noticed the larger the blog the more difficult that becomes to do so. Some people get annoyed by the lack of responses. I can say I have asked you things and you get right back to me, so I do appreciate that. However, have people ever been slighted or assumed they where, and let you know it?? I am just wondering because about a week ago a blogger did a topic on blogs that have large followings but the blogger never takes the time for the followers questions, or not once has even gone over to their blog. Then others followed in the conversation and said they took those blogs off their list to follow...just interesting to me the dynamics here....what's your take??

Hi Cindy, I ran across your blog and the whole blogging world through the last magazine you were featured in. I had no idea this little world of its own, even existed!! I have blogged a little when e-bay had their blogs open. Iam new to these blogs and still learning. I accidentially deleted my first blog and just opened another, everything is the same, if that matters. I enjoy reading your posts, just wish they were more often! I was curious, if you had the chance to have your own cute little cottage, but had to relocate to have it...would you? I have never been to California, but, would love to visit! I imagine it would be hard to leave it! Following you and Lauren!! Rhonda

I would like to know what exciting things have come about since being featured in Romatic Homes?

Cindy - I look forward to reading your blog everyday! I look at your home and admire it ... I have many pieces you possess, however, they are in boxes stored in my daughter's garage. You did inspire me though ... I asked for one room and I was able to decorate it with some of my things.

Keep sharing what you bought, your home projects and links.

I recently moved to NC from Culver City, California and I miss it so much! So, I LOVE the photos of the ocean, Carmel and even Campbell (my brother used to live there).

Keep up the good work ... I admire your work and dedication ... I wouldn't have the energy!

Hi, Cindy. I am rather new to reading blogs (about a year). Your blog is the best of the limited amount of blogs I've read. Your photos are always beautiful and make me want to re-decorate or start another home project. Plus you seem really "real" to me.
I do have a question for you..........where and how in the world do you store the items you don't use? How do you organize all that?
KAY
Thank you for your beautiful blog site.

I'm waiting for a Wii to come in, as our stores have been sold out. I'm getting the Wii Fit Plus. I've used it at my sons and love it. I also love your blog just as it is. My question would be if you've ever had Amazon.com ads on your blog (seems I remember them) and if so, why did you stop? Thanks Cindy!! ♥

Hello Cindy,
Yours was one of the first blogs I came across when I first caught the blogging bug and it remains a favorite of mine. I'm all about decorating on a budget and that side of your blog really appeals to me. My question to you is how in the world did you garner so many followers? Did you post giveaways, comment to every blog comment you received, or ask other bloggers to mention your blog? I've been blogging a year now and have 32 loyal followers but would like more. Thanks for sharing your enviable artistic talents with us.

You have beautiful photos, interesting posts, educational posts and an absolutely beautiful home and family. I don't know how you have continued to blog for FIVE years - I just started last November and there have been days I didn't have a clue what to blog about either. I just hope you NEVER stop blogging. Your blog makes me smile every day. I wish I could meet you in person and walk through your lovely home but I will settle for visiting your blog. One question - have you always lived in California? Have a good day sweetie!

Hi Cindy. I found your blog thru RMS and that's how I learned all about the blogging world. I think you have the best blog out here. You seem to say just enough - not too much, not too little. You share tutorials. You share recipes. You share all your pictures on Flikr. I love that. You post just enough pictures to see, without being redundant. My question - why do you blog everyday? Don't get me wrong - I look forward to it. I think everyone does. We'd be disappointed if you didn't. I was just wondering. I hope you and Lauren have a lovely week, and thanks for letting us ask nosy questions. Rosie

Cindy, you must know by when you get down to us that you are the Queen of Blogging. You have inspired so many of us and as I read along some have left and come back to you. Something about you that catches our focus. I see a lot of them request for recipes, which I am not so found of. But if you do it only once a week it be ok. The best things are your stories of projects and ideas that do not bore us. It's like a magic wand that you have a touch of this that and you convert the Pumpkin into a Beautiful carage. It's like a fair book story the intrest you put on things. Oh and stories of your kids, what they are up to. I adore your daughter wish she meet my son some day I am sure they would be great friends. Other than that never stop blogging, you are my insperation each day to turn on my computer to see what you are doing. If you do ever get famouse please invite me to your show front seat or back, Would want to meet you one day to tell the world how you inspired us all.

Hi Cindy!

I LOVE your blog, and am always so grateful that I stumbled upon it!! I find you very inspiring, and I have no negative comments or any constructive criticism.

A few suggestions of what would be fun to see:

1. I actually agree with Susan's request of offering tips for new bloggers to become successful "seasoned bloggers" like yourself. You have done such a great job, and if I check only one blog a day, it's always yours!! :-) I have a blog, but I usually only post giveaways on it because I don't really know how to do the things I need to do to make it a great blog that people would want to visit. I finally have a digital camera and have taken some photos, and I have just downloaded Adobe Elements, but I don't know how to use it to make my pictures look nice to post on my blog. Your photography is one of my favorite things about your blog because your photos look professional, and you are great with staging! So, basically, tips on how to have a successful blog and maybe even one succesful enough to generate some income, though that's not my first priority.

2. I also thought it would be fun if, for the local people, you offered workshops on making small projects together. The reason I thought this would be nice is because it would give those of us with similar interests to meet each other, have a social thing, and leave with a shabby chic project, as well. For example, making the trays was one idea I thought of.

Always looking forward to what you come up with next!!

Thanks for everything, Cindy!

Thanks so much!!

Hi, Cindy...I have loved your blog for years now. I love everything about it. I don't have critiques but a possible suggestion for a good topic you may consider posting on--since you are out of ideas this week. I recently purchased a Canon Rebel Xsi camera ( because of your gorgeous pictures). Yeah! I think it would be great if you shared with your bloggers a brief tutorial on photo tips you have learned along the way. Cindy,
Love your decorating style and everything about your blog, you are my favorite blog to read (which I check every day). Love your different flea market treasures and how you use them, i.e. silver tray turned into chalk board.
As one of the other readers asked, I would like to see suggestions, info on how you:
1. Organize and store your decorative items when not in use or when not in season (i.e. how and where do you store your items for autumn, Christmas, etc. (You always seem so organized and your house so neat and uncluttered.) Our house has less than 1000 sq. feet, small 11x15 ft living room, small eat-in kitchen - no room for china cabinet or bookcases. We have only half a basement which is filled with about 20 totes for decorative/seasonal items, candles, and I am running out of room. I try to keep the seasonal items in their own totes (all the Easter decor together, all Spring decor together, but feel like I am so unorganized, is there a trick to packing items??).
2. Do you keep your old magazines and if so, how do you store them?
3. How do you organize your recipes?
4. Also, any ideas on how to store spools of ribbon? (I must have 30 spools at least.)
Keep up the good work, you are such an inspiration!

Several bloggers have mentioned it but never said how they did it. Would you please share?? Thank you so much for letting us share alittle piece of your life and home.
Sincerely, Corrie

Cindy,

I really do love everything about your blog, especially the fact that you are unafraid to try various projects. That is truly an inspiration to me!

Re-purposing is an interest of mine. I love seeing cast-offs brought back to life and re-purposed into something creative and beautiful. You are the master of that particular talent!

Oh, I have another question. I've always been curious as to why you chose to leave the hanging cabinet with the "I'm in the sign" on it a wood color. It looks pretty but I've wondered why you haven't painted it white or blue...just one of those silly things I wonder!

Ooops, meant to say the "I'm in the Garden" sign!

Cindy, I,too, am a follower and a fan. I may run into you sometime while shopping as i live nearby!

Do you ever wonder how a new man would fit into your very feminine environment? This has been disturbing me on your behalf.

What Ever Happened To The Dress??? I didn't see it in your Etsy shop!!!

As a woman, doesn't it ever concern you to put your life out there in the public eye?

Did your love of things have anything to do with your other marriages not working?

Would you ever give up all your treasures for a man???

Just questions I wonder about from time to time as I read your post.

Dear Cindy,

I recently read Tara Frey's "Blogging for Bliss", and she suggests one should post every day.

Do you feel you need to do that? Because I get exhausted trying to keep up with all the blogs I follow in the little time I have!

Oh, wait, I forgot!

I miss the pretty blue brocade background GIF you had on your old blog.

I guess that's a criticism, I hope it didn't sound harsh, because I really love love love your blog!

Hugs,
Sandy
