Inspiration

Pin It Now!

I'm planning on painting my bedroom soon and I think I'm going to go with a taupe paint color this time. I want my bedroom to have a more tranquil feel to it. I'm tired of all the clutter in there and I'm so ready for a change. It must be that time of year... I always want to declutter in the Spring!

I love these taupe walls with just a touch of blue in the accessories. What do you think?

It's very pretty in this use but I have never been a taupe color person. To me it is too close to brown & brown isn't a color!! LOL!!

Love it. Blue is my favorite color. I think it will be very beautiful.

The taupe will allow the blue to stand out so much more by doing this. I think it's a lovely idea!

Hi Cindy,
The taupe and blue are lovely together. I recently wanted a cream colored tablecloth but could not find one and I wound up finding one in taupe and I wasn't sure if I would like it but I bought it and tried it and loved it! So did hubby.
I have blue in my house as well, but it goes well with any color. think it would give you that tranquil look you want as well.
Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it!! lol
Have a great day,
Blessings, Nellie

I got sick of the color on my walls and went with a taupe. One I use a lot that my girlfriend discovered and I use for clients as well as my home is Persian Taupe and Lindhurst Timber. They are part of the Historical Home paint group and I believe they are at Lowes...I'd have to look at the can for the kind but I think it Behr. Anyway just a suggestion...the Persian looks just like the one in the photo and I have it all over my home. The Lindhurst is in my formal living room. I'll post a photo for you tomorrow to see. Beautiful Inspirations! I sent you another pair of earrings btw, let me know when you get them!

Lovely together taupe and blue, I would use a bit more blue, maybe one wall papered blue? They seem to be cool colours don't they. Very sophisticated.

Very pretty and with the blue, very nice. I have milk chocolate brown and blue. I love the brown it goes with every color and I haven't got tired of it yet! :D

My Cottage Charm said...

It is definitely a very tranquil color. Be careful you don't get too tranquil, you might sleep in and be late for work.....or worse yet, be late posting your blog everyday! :) LOL

I love the idea. I try to put color on my walls but I always seem to go back to white or taupe with color in my accessories. Those chairs with the blue fabric on them are amazing. The perfect shade of blue.

Love it! I can't wait to paint my furniture white - as soon as it warms up a little more :)

Love it! I can't wait to be able to paint my own home I think I may want something close to this color too.

Bonjour Cindy,
If your bedroom turns out anything like that top room - definitely get some taupe paint. Blue always feels calm and restful. Love those blue French style chairs.
Good evening to you!

I think taupe is a beautiful
neutral, Cindy. I used taupe
in our last house and loved it.
In fact, I'm planning on paint-
ing our current home throughout
in taupe. My taupe wasn't
beige or brown at all. I think
it had more blue/gray to it. I
used blue, pink, sage green and
cream accessories/linens/fabrics
and it went with them all.
I think you will love it!

All of my walls are tannish/taupe color with one blue accent wall surrounding my fireplace. I love the combination of tannish and pale aqua's and shades of blue!! They look great together and are very soothing. Rhonda

While I am not a taupe color lover, I AM wanting to do the same but with everything white...I've gone white crazy....

The walls in my livingroom are taupe. I like the color, it is an easy background. Most colors go great with it.

Marilyn said...

Cindy,

I think that taupe is mellow and relaxing. It looks equally great paired with both cool and warm colors.

I also think that taupe makes whites in the room, even brighter.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

You can never go wrong with taupe. 'If' I ever paint my all white walls it will be something like taupe but more like a faded shade of stone patina. My hubby wants to smooth all our walls and paint them like an old cottage along the mediterranean sea...with our arches it would look perfect. Our residential home is in the mediterranean style, but you know, its a Ca. tract home. But there is so much we can do with our homes these days. I look forward to seeing your changes.

Cindy...I have been thinking about taupe on myliving room walls. It kind of has that hint of color that looks neutral at the same time. Yep, it's Spring...time to declutter!~Patti

I think you will love the change. i just painted my bedroom a very warm cream and it is so relaxing. I am taking my time putting things back on the walls too.
I am trying to gear up to do some furniture painting, in your tradition. White with the antiquing rubbed in. So far it's still just a thought--without any elbow grease.

Neutral taupe is very easy on the eyes and makes colorful accessories stand out. You are so good at picking just the right color ~ Go for it!

Marie Arden said...

Yes the taupe looks great. It is soothing we had taupe for awhile in our home.

Susan said...

Cindy I think the neutral taupe will be beautiful. However I love your bedroom now. I think we all have the spring cleaning, changing bug! I just bought a new quilt for our bedroom. Because of the colors in the quilt that means I have to switch the decor out too. Oh darn :)

It is pretty , but I'm not a taupe fan. My bedroom is a darker taupe and to me it is very depressing, even with all the white I have in there. I'm just not a "brown" person. The other walls in my house are one shade darker than Dover White on the Sherwin Williams paint swatch. I love that color as it changes according to the amount of light and day to night and matches everything.

If you do decide on taupe, pick a very light taupe or I don't think you will like it since you are a "white and blue" person!

My master bedroom is a dark taupe and the tray ceiling is white on the rise and dark taupe on the ceiling part of it. It looks so romantic and soothing. My accent colors are olive green, maroon, and a mustard gold. We just love it. Can't go wrong with taupe!

Cindy, I LOVE your inspiration photos! I truly believe that our surroundings can totally have an effect on our feelings. About 10 years ago, we painted below our chair rail (which is now also gone) in our family room a lovely Ralph Lauren color called KILIM. Like the Indian rugs...I'm not a read person so I'm not really sure why we did this but anyway, I swear, it made my twins who were 3 at the time louder and more aggressive. I always felt more on edge too. We quickly changed it to a soothing green and we all felt the change immediately! I can't wait to see what you do with your room! BTW, our family room now has WHITE board and batten wainscoting and a very soothing muted robin egg blue above it...I LOVE it!

You have great taste. It will be spectacular. I love the look of deep cream or light taupe and white... It reminds me of a wedding cake I fell in love with once in a magazine... and my shop has white trim with taupe-ish/cream walls called Apple cider (from Wal-mart, actually). I love them. I have always wanted a neutral bedroom with shades of taupe, white, cream, maybe a little brown... and then pop it with different colors at different times or leave it neutral.. Alas, my bedroom is also my world here at Mom's... and it is mishmash.... Sigh!

My boys share a room, and last spring we painted it a pretty taupe. We have china blue accents in there, and I have to remind myself that I can't hang plates on the wall in there. I love that color combination, though, for a feminine or masculine look.

Yes, I think you should go with the taupe...it is a clean and versatile pallet. I have an open floor plan in my living/dining/kitchen and it's painted a little darker taupe than your pix, but with all the white trim, it really pops. I look forward to your new painted bedroom!!! Absolutely L.O.V.E. your blog.

I think the taupe would look lovely with blue. My bedroom is a sort of taupe/tan and I have been wondering what color would be good for accessories. Right now I have two retro/modern turquoise blue lamps which I bought at a thrift shop and love, but I can't find anything else in a similar color. But I do love those pictures you posted.
