My New Couch!

Pin It Now!

I sold my old couch on Craigslist on Saturday and with the money I made selling that along with a check I received for advertising on my blog I bought my new couch! I love it...no money spent from my regular paycheck and I have a brand new couch!!!
It helps that the couch was such a great deal at only $399 at Ikea! I bought an extra slipcover set so when one is being washed the other can be put on right away. It was only $49...you couldn't even buy the fabric for that price! The fabric is nice and heavy too and it looks like it will hold up well to lots of washing.
It's smaller than my old couch which is better for the scale of my room. It's a lot firmer but hopefully it will break in a bit and become softer with age. I think it really gives the room a beachy, cottagey feel. Hopefully I'll be getting the wood floors my landlord said she may put in soon!

Looks great! You are going to absolutely LOVE having a white slipcovered couch. And brilliant idea to get a second slipcover! Some people get so nervous about having white with pets and/or kids but as long as the fabric is washable, it's easier to care for than regular upholstery, imho. I sure haven't had one second of regret about having my couch and loveseat slipcovered in white. Love it when it's fresh out of the washer and dryer and still smells like bleach. ;)

Enjoy!

Your living room is amazing Cindy and I adore your new couch! Makes me want to go find an Ikea right now (unfortunately I don't know of one nearby!). Your home is always so warm and cozy...I want to cuddle up in there!

Thanks so much for your sweet words on my blog today...you have encouraged me so much!

Do you just feel pleased as punch everytime you walk in the room and see it now? I am so glad your old couch went so fast and you were able to move ahead with the new one. My husband has refused to buy a new couch for years because we have indoor kittys. When I get to buy one myself, it's going to be red leather. Pop over and see my cookbook cupboard redo!

Love love love it! If I would have known earlier that the Ikea couches were sturdier than I thought, I would have certainly saved myself some dollars instead of buying my Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic couch, although it is lovely :)
What a great new look for your romantic home!

Cindy, how did the sofa come...how many boxes or all in one piece. I don't live near an Ikea and am trying to decide if it is cheaper to have it shipped or go pick one up several hundred miles away. I don't think it would fit in my mid sized car. I checked and shipping is $150 to me. Thanks for your help.

Wow, it looks great! I was waiting to see it today to see what you thought. I checked it out on the website this weekend; it's great to know it's firm. I prefer one that is firm (I had back surgery.)

It looks better than your former sofa-not that it was bad looking, the dark color just wasn't you. This is perfect!

Love the couch Cindy! I just received my Ikea catalog and I am very impressed with their merchandise. I'd love to order this sofa, club chair and matching ottoman but the "man" that lives here (and pays the bills) would never go for it! However, I do have the white denim slipcovers from Ballards on my kitchen parsons chairs, love them!

I can't believe you didn't have to put any money into it. Way to go! Your place is gorgeous! Does your landlord know about your blog? You should tell her so she can see you said she was going to put in wood floors. That would make it even more beautiful and then the world would know what a superb landlord she is!!!

Wow, Cindy, that really made a tremendous difference in the whole look. We have an IKEA in Houston and I've been trying to talk the hubby into getting one but he says it's just not as comfortable as his beat up leather couch. I love, love, love how your living room looks now. Thank you for sharing with us.

Your new sofa is terrific! And how wise, to buy the second slipcover; 49-dollars? Amazing!!!

Thank goodness for IKEA. I furnished my daughter's first apartment in Pasadena in August almost completely from the IKEA in Burbank. The pieces are amazingly classic, and boy...we sure bonded putting them together!

Enjoy your lovely, cottage-y couch. It is LOVELY.

Something that my upholsterer does with those firm cushions is to cut circular holes in the foam. Kind of like pokadots. It your cushions don't soften up you might want to try that along with some batting on top of the foam.

Only YOU can make a couch from IKEA look romantic! :)

Also, another idea I just learned from you: I can hang plates but they don't have to match, just the same size? (I am referring to the plates above your couch) I thought they all matched and then I noticed they didn't. I have so many plates...

I see that as long as the size is the same, it works! Thank you...again!
