A Great Flea Market Trip!

Pin It Now!

Yesterday I went over to the Santa Cruz Flea Market with my friend Nelson.  I cannot believe I found these Chintz salt and pepper shakers for $8.00!!!!  I knew they were worth so much more.  I came home and looked through my chintz book and saw the exact same pair.  The book says they are worth $100-150 but I know that the value of chintz has come down a bit since this book was published but they are still worth quite a lot!  I was so thrilled with this find!!!!  I'm going to keep them and add them to my small but growing chintzware collection.
I also found this beautiful silver-plated tray.  It's over 2 feet long!
I put it on my coffee table with some shells and candles.  This was marked $15 but I got it for $10.   I love the detail of this piece.
I also found this little pot below for $4.  When I see these I really have a hard time not buying them.
Here is my collection so far but I'm sure it will be growing.  They are made Spain.
I'm on vacation this week but just staying home.  It was great not having to get up and go to work this morning.  I could get used to this!!!!

Happy Vacation Week Cindy!
I can relate! Getting up and around in the morning is the toughest part of my job, but I feel so "out of the loop" sometimes when I'm off (I am very fortunate to have an entire three months off during the summer~I do enjoy the schoolkids though)
Anyway those are lovely treasures you found this weekend!
Take Care,
Karin

Hi Cindy! I was having lunch and thought I would see what you posted today! What a great deal! I have never seen those s&p shakers before but they are gorgeous. Makes it that much sweeter they are worth lots more. Love the silver tray, could use that in my bath for my perfumes! I knew you would have something pretty to see! Enjoy your week and don't work too hard - too hot! Oh and staying home gets old fast after a while all you do is laundry and become isolated from the real world!lol - Jeannette

I think my heart just stopped!!!!!
Not only is it hard to find a S/P set in tact...but that shape is not
very common either! The value of chintz has dropped quite a bit recently...but not THAT much! What an awesome find! And that tray... excuse me while I wipe the drool!
Quite an outing you had!!!!

You sure did great at the flea market. How fun. You got some great things there!

Have a fun vacation and try to relax a bit. But, knowing you, you are going to spend the whole time doing projects around the house. So I'm sure this is going to be one fun filled week of reading all what you do.

I hate weekends when you don't post. I need my daily dose of Cindy! LOL

Hugs,
Joanne

How fun!

I'm going to San Jose, this summer, to visit relatives and want to go to Santa Cruz.

Can you email me and let me know when and where they hold their flea market and offer any advice as to places I need to go.

Thanks! ~elaine~

Afternoon Cindy! Oh, what beautiful things you've found. After seeing the movie "Lost Boys" with my son when he was a teenager - now he's 38 - and knowing it was filmed in Santa Cruz, we always call it the Vampire Town! Well, those vampires have gotten rid of some wonderful treasures. Enjoy your week off and rest. Well, maybe you're planning on painting something. I'll bet your little fingers are just itching for the primer and paint brush! LOL
Be a sweeties,

Oh wow, what a find on those S & P shakers. I need to get me a reference book like that. I just put up a bunch of photos on my blog of my latest finds over the weekend. Nothing of great monetary value but lots of fun little things. It's so much fun to treasure hunt.

I can not believe how lucky you got with those beautiful salt and pepper shakers!! Oh my goodness!! They are so pretty! Pretty soon you are going to have to get another china cabinet just for your Chintz!!
The silver tray is amazing. I started collecting silver years ago and stopped because I had a hard time finding it but I have recently started adding to my collection again and I am so happy! I haven't found anything like that tray though! The detail is wonderful. And of course you created a beautiful vinette with it- as usual. I love the shiny silver mixed with the natural elements........ breathtaking.
Have a great time on vacation!!! Being home is a vacation isnt it??

Chintz is lovely, I have a set of summertime with the square plates I received years back from my mother, she received them from her friend. I just love them.

The silver tray is wonderful, another weakness of mine. I have about three large ones like that.

I know you'll have a wonderful vacation, it's nice weather so far this week.

You know, I just love *little* collections. I know it's hard sometimes to keep from going overboard, especially with beautiful things that you love, but to me, there's something very cosy feeling about having a number of small collections of things - 8 Christmas teacups; 7 antique salt cellars; 6 vintage aprons; etc. etc.

Love your blog! Thank you for all the synergy going into it!
