Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  One of the great things about blogging is going back through your own blog to get inspiration.  I found these old photos from 4 years ago at my old apartment. Oh how I miss my old place!  I've had nothing but problems at my new place!  I'm fairly certain I will be moving again once my lease is up in February. I hope I can find a place like my old apartment!  It's sort of bittersweet looking at old photos.  

I hope everyone is enjoying October. It still feels like summer in California. It's been in the 90s the last week or so!  Next month it should start cooling down here! It never feels like Autumn until around Thanksgiving here! Although I love the long days of summer I'm sort of looking forward to the cooler weather.

Cupcakes and my new KitchenAid muffin tins - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  It seems like everyone is having a birthday lately!  It was my birthday last week along with many other people I know.  My friends and I at my apartment decided to have a "Libra" party because there are so many of us with birthdays around the same time. We had a potluck BBQ and I signed up to bring cupcakes!

The timing was perfect because the nice folks at KitchenAid sent me some muffin tins to try out!

Honestly, I thought muffin tins are muffin tins and there really isn't much of a difference! I was so surprised when I open the package and found these!  The are so heavy duty and they are small so I'm able to bake more cupcakes in my oven at one time because I can turn them different directions so I can fit more on the shelf!  These definitely feel like more of  professional bakeware than the muffin tins I already had!  They sent me regular size and also the mini size! 

I should have known they would be superior because I have so many KitchenAid products and they are all wonderful. I love my KitchenAid mixer that I've had since about 1980!



...and I'm happy to say that I received so many compliments on my cupcakes!

Update:  I wasn't just imagining there are so many birthdays around mine! I heard on the radio that September is the number 1 birthday month in the U.S.  It must have something to do with New Years and cold winters! haha!  My birthday, September 24 is the 6th most popular birthday in the U.S.  I never knew that! September 16th is the #1 date so if that's your birthday you share it with a lot of others!

A Little More Autumn Decor - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I saw these mini white pumpkins at the grocery store this week and decided to buy a few!

I wasn't sure what to do with them but then I decided to put them on some mini pedestals.  I pulled out some of my little ceramic cherubs...

 

I added some faux autumn leaves and a little moss...

I still have my shells out in the jars but I will probably switch those out a little later....but maybe I'll just wait until I decorate for Christmas to put those away...

 

White pumpkins were just made for me!   I've loved them since they first came out years ago....

My friends and I went back to the beach last weekend to go to the Capitola Art and Wine Festival and as usual, we had so much fun....

A Little Autumn Decor - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  Honestly I am not ready for summer to be over!  My home décor is best in summer colors with lots of shells, then Christmas is my 2nd favorite decorating season, and finally Easter/Spring.  It's hard to make Autumn décor look good in my summery home!  And honestly in California it doesn't really feel like Autumn until November! 

This week it's still in the 90s but I decided to decorate just one small area with a little bit of Autumn and I think I felt the urge to do it because everyone else seems to be! Peer pressure! haha!

It's been so long since I've bought anything for my little apartment but I was at the mall and decided to stop in Ross to see what they had and I found this mercury glass candle holder and it was so inexpensive I decided to buy it.  I'm really glad I did!  I just added a white candle and some fall potpourri filler and I love it!



I have some faux blinged-out white pumpkins that I added to the large beverage dispenser. It leaks so I can't use it for beverages!  The apothecary jar I filled with more potpourri filler and faux Fall leaves. I finished it off with my large decorative acorn.  That's enough Autumn in my apartment for awhile, unless the weather decides to cool down and I feel inspired but that's not likely. September in the Bay Area is usually Indian Summer and warm!

My lease on my apartment is a 10 month lease and it's up in December. I'm still on the fence about moving but I really didn't want to move in December! Luckily they offered me a 2 month extension at the same rent I'm paying now.  There is rent control in San Jose so they can only raise it 8% which is still a lot of money with what I'm paying in rent.  I decided to take their offer so I can decorate for Christmas and actually enjoy the holidays but if I decide to move in February the rent prices will be a little higher than December.  It was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make!  The rent prices around here have been on the rise and it's making me a little nervous!  I'm paying $500 a month more than I was at my last apartment and my raises at work sure aren't going up at that rate!  At this point I don't know where I will be living next year but I'm trying not to stress out about it!

Have I mentioned that I'm having the time of my life now?  I'm going back to the beach for the weekend to go to the Capitola Art and Wine Festival this weekend.  I did a post about it back in 2010 which you can see here. Weekends at the beach with my friends are so much fun!
