I'm sitting here watching TV tonight and this ad comes on about California. Don't get me wrong...I love it, it's a great ad and I think it would sell me on visiting California but I already live here! Why would they run this ad in California? What a waste of money! My mind just goes to how this money could be spent on something more important....
I think it's nationwide.....I've seen the commercial and I'm in WV. I figure once you pay for nationwide you may as well show it EVRYWHERE!!! But I wouldn't know for sure!!!
Well, that sounds very much like advertising our Provincial government does here in New Brunswick to get NBers to see their province (minus the movie stars). Also called "staycations" here. Gas is high and people can't afford to travel far so they push to keep you in your province (state) to build up the economy. I think it's a great ad! Have a look at my 'tourist' photos on my blog - yup, I'm trying to get people to come and see the beauty of New Brunswick, Canada! :-) Have a super day! Pamela
The ad has been showing here for quite a while, one with Rob Lowe at the end and now the current one with Betty White - neither persuade me to visit California, it doesn't seem to tell me very much really, nicely shot though.
There is a lot of money here in California and many local and not so local places to visit, so maybe it's just a reminder to us to spend our money in our own state and help our own economy. For those of us that just can't afford to fly or drive with almost $4.00 a gallon gas, we have a pretty amazing choice of places to see right in our own backyard.
i think....they r trying to keep californians in CA.....a lot of peole i know have been hit hard during these economic times and are lookn for slower paced...simpler and frankly...CHEAPER states to live in.
I love my CA too.....but i have been tossn Texas in the air for some time now.
I live in California also, and I really agree with you on this. Cindy, be sure to go back, and read the very last few comments on your previous post on Carmel,In case you haven't yet. Thanks, some really good ones there. Hugs, Joyce
Thank you Joyce for the very nice comment you left yesterday. I read it yesterday on my iphone and meant to say thank you when I got home and back on my computer! It was very touching!
You are right, Cindy. It would have been better if they ran the video in New York or Massachusetts, Idaho or Oklahoma, or, well, anywhere else but California! Go figure. Susan
Nothing surprises me anymore about how money gets spent. I am just glad I already am here so don't need to visit! The Bay Area cannot be beat. Nice sharing it with you, Cindy!
I agree with one of the earlier posters : "maybe it's just a reminder to us to spend our money in our own state and help our own economy." Not a bad message if you ask me!
wow very strange, we have been seeing it lots here in Melbourne Australia. Makes me wish I could go back to visit.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog by the way!!!

ReplyDeleteMaybe it's trying to entice those of us who already live here to stay:)
ReplyDeleteI've seen that here in Pa. but I wonder why they would show it in their home state, your right money wasted!

I hear ya! I studied marketing in college. Psychology plays an important role in advertising. In this case...it must be subliminal.
