Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

Pin It Now!

It was such a beautiful weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area!  Yesterday it was about 80 degrees!  Lauren and I went to the Farmer's Market and I came home with a lot of strawberries!  I froze some for smoothies, kept some to eat fresh and made homemade strawberry ice cream with the remainder!  I have a Donvier Ice Cream Maker. It's really easy to use because you don't have to mess with ice and salt like the old fashioned kind.

Strawberry Ice Cream
2 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 t. vanilla
2 cups cream (I used 1 cup cream and 1 cup half-half)
2 cups fresh berries (mashed)

Beat egg and sugar until thick and cream-colored.  Add berries, cream and vanilla.  Refrigerate until chilled well and then use in ice cream maker.

Strawberry ice cream is my favorite. I grew up near Plant City, Fl, which is the strawberry capital. There is nothing better than homemade strawberry ice cream and yours looks yummy.

I really enjoy your blog. I have enjoyed your day trip. My husband and I just spend 8 days in the San Francisco area earlier this month, including a drive down the coast to Monterey, Carmel and Big Sure, then up to the wine country and Sausalito. You are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area with so many diverse things to do! Thank you for sharing with us.

OOOOH! I love that recipe for the ice cream. I am in the market for an ice cream maker...Used to make it all the time. As a matter of fact, my father used to say, he didn't know it was Memorial Day, until he heard the hum of the ice cream maker and then dived into it for dessert! Thanks Cindy, Karen
