Filoli Gardens

Last Saturday Lauren and I went to Filoli Gardens. It's a beautiful place and less than 1/2 hour drive from our apartment. If that house looks familiar it because it was used in the opening of the old TV show Dynasty. It's also been used in a lot of other TV shows and movies.
Through this garden gate is the most amazing garden...
This is part of the view you see as you walk through the gate. These photos do not do it justice! (That's Lauren on the left in the photo above.)

This birdcage was so beautiful! There are two doves in there sitting on top of the wood birdhouse.

The foxgloves were so beautiful!

This is the view beyond the garden (above).
This pathway was so pretty with the flowering trees overhead.

Tomorrow, I'll show you inside the home and the beautiful giftshop!

  17. What beautiful pictures. It is exactly how I remembered it.

I visited the Filoli Gardens eight years ago after reading an article in our Big City Newspaper about it. The Filoli Gardens is considered the best "formal" garden in the U.S. I love formal gardens and hope to tour many of the beautiful flower and water gardens of the world when I retire. I loved the formal hedges at the Filoli Gardens and LOVED the rose gardens. It was amazing to me that a woman would plant such an amazing rose garden just to use for clippings. Of course, that was back in the days when it was a home and not a public garden.

I still have an iron garden bunny that I keep in my patio flower pot that I purchased there as a memento. I hope to visit it again.

    Thanks for the memories!

I am from Australia, and have been trying to get to see Filoli for quite some time. On our last trip to San Francisco, we missed out, as Filoli was closed at the end of Fall.
Maybe one of these days, we will get the chance to go back.
Enjoy reading your daily blog...great photos....you are such an inspiration...and motivator !!! Keep up the good work!
