Filoli - Part II

Yesterday I showed you the gardens of Fioli, today I'll share the wonderful gift shop and inside the mansion. First the GORGEOUS gift shop...

Outside the gift shop is a small nursery where you can buy plants...
You probably won't believe this but I didn't buy a thing!!! So now to the inside...this place is HUGE! It's 36,000 sq. feet with 43 rooms excluding bathrooms and store rooms!
The Ballroom was my favorite room. It had two huge crystal chandeliers!

Wouldn't you love to have a huge window like this in your kitchen!

On the way home we stopped by Stanford Shopping Center, which is right next to Stanford University. We didn't go there to shop though...we went there to go to Sprinkles to get a cupcake!
It was a really hard decision for me, it came down to banana or coconut. I ended up with coconut and it was the best cupcake I've ever had!
The bad thing is I can't stop thinking about it! I want another one!

  1. What a beautiful place! I would love to go there someday.

I can't believe you left without buying anything though. I saw so many things I would have loved to buy.

Though I understand that sometimes we are either not in the shopping mood (Did I just say that!) or we just don't have the space for something new.

What a perfect ending to a perfect day....cupcakes! YUM!

    Hugs

  2. What a lovely house and gift shop! Thank you for taking and sharing pictures :) I had my first Sprinkles cupcake for breakfast in LA last June 2008 just steps from Rodeo Drive. Oh, yes, it was quite a way to start the day, and I would be just tickled to get to do it again sometime soon.

Looking forward to pictures of your next adventure!

  7. Glad you made to my pretend home ;o)! I've never seen the 4th of July stuff for sale in the gift store before. Lovely display. Isn't it just the best. That big island in front of the huge kitchen range has special drawers for linens, that you can acess from both sides. Sadly no linens left.
