White, white, white, white...

This is for Anonymous who left the comments below on my post called "Inside & Out ~ I Love White Homes"

It's not that they look cold, they just look like an igloo. I think white is for snowmen, hospitals....and igloos.Signed,Frosty.

Oh, and sheep are white too. Most of the sheep that post on here like white. Baaaaaah humbug

When I read those comments from you I figured you must have stumbled upon my blog by mistake and felt the need to comment. I thought it was really funny (except for the part where you called my readers "sheep"). I could have deleted your comments but I chose to keep them there. I'm a little baffled that you came back to my blog yesterday and left this comment:

You've been Frost biten! said...
I love Marthas Vineyard because it's not White! Signed, Frosty

I love that you signed it "Frosty" since you said in your previous comments that snowmen like white! I guess I've rubbed off on you now! I made the mosaic above just for you and your new love of white. I hope you like it!

  1. WOW! Poor Frosty, there are so things that I just love to comment about I can't figure out why anyone would waste one second looking at or commenting on things that they don't like...hmmmmm...
and following the logic of white lovers being "sheep"...are we PINK lovers "Piggies"???? Alrighty then ... all I can say is OINK! OINK! :)

  6. Well I guess Frosty just doesn't have good taste. Would love for Frosty to come out of hiding and show us their home.

I think it's funny when people hide behind the Internet in an attempt to hurt someone.

But, you are smart enough and secure enough to know you have a darling home and your tastes are perfect so it's just funny to read Frosty's remarks.

But like you said, Frosty must have liked your blog enough to bookmark it and come back.

    Hugs,
    baaaaaa baaaaa Joanne
or oink oink oink. I can be multi animals as I love several colors.

You are not only talented and creative but you have great wit too.
    Great response!

  8. My husband accuses me of having a "white obsession." Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with that. White looks great alone. And it also looks wonderful with any color under the sun.

Cindy, if you don't already have it, see if you can find the book, "At Home With White." It is from the editors of Victoria Magazine. They also have one out called "Blue & White In Your Home." I guarantee you will love both books! Beautiful photos, as only Victoria magazine can do.

  9. Cindy, I think you've melted Frosty's heart with your thoughtful mosaic! WTG!

Good for you for not letting it bother you. Life is too short, and too precious!

  11. Hhhhmmmmm, I love your white decor, but I don't especially like snow (living here in Michigan ~ we get too much of it). So, you can like some whites and not others :)

  12. Because I don't have any white (or blue, either, for that matter) anywhere in my home, that is why I love to look at the photos of your home. It is totally different from mine and it's nice to see spaces that aren't the same as what I already have. If everyone had the same thing, it would be a boring world. It's nice to explore and see different things. Life is hard enough -- people should learn to say nice things, not be rude. If you don't like it, go look somewhere else. Cindy, you just keep on doing what you're doing. Obviously, there are many of us who are huge fans. Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com

  13. Too funny Cindy! Is the house on the 3rd row the amazing house from the movie Practical Magic? I could watch that movie over and over - just to see the house!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cindy,
I agree with Joanne. I come here to see your beautiful home which is so different from mine. It is like a refreshing mini vacation to see your home, and your posts. And even though I will probably never live in an all white house, I love to see your photos! Thanks for the inspiration!

  15. Cindy, I'm also glad that you didn't delete the comments from Frosty and responded in a very professional manner. You really are a very special person with a lot of class so don't let people like that get you down. Just consider the source and keep on smiling...

  16. Oh, how funny is this.

It's always the anonymous that leave such comments.

Never to mind though, white is what it is. And Frosty should know it's the in shade for him, or her.

I guess I'll go to hell with everyone else that love's white furniture or anything else that's white.

Chin up girls and carry one.

Love the collage and your blog. Have a great day!

  20. hi Cindy-

Your site is wonderful and don't worry a peep about it. I see other sites that aren't for me but i just go on to the next one. i don't leave comments, i just skip along...

  21. White is awesome!
I did my bathroom all white. I had the same "hospital" comments blah blah blah... but I have primary color in other rooms & wanted to have a place to retreat.

    ReplyDelete
  22. YIKES! Unbelievable that Frosty has so much time on her/his hands that they have to look at blogs they have no interest in, then make snotty comments.

Cindy, your home is beautiful & I enjoy reading your blog so much.

Thanks for the great attitude & for turning an unpleasant experience into a chance for all of us to comment & share some chuckles!

  23. People never stop amazing me.

Cindy....you clearly have more dignity and decorating sense than others.....I am shocked by these comments and this rude behavior even over the internet. I would love to see more white posts because I too enjoy all colors, particularly white.

    ReplyDelete
  24. LOL...love your attitude, your Blog and White!! White stands for pure and clean...well, some just don't like that ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sounds like Frosty got up on the wrong side of the bed. Some people just aren't very happy, I feel sad for them. I on the other hand.. LOVE white. It's so pretty, flawless, pure....

    ReplyDelete
  26. I enjoy the diversity of our decorating senses! I read your blog not because I love white (I actually prefer more color in my own decor) but because I love your sense of style and want it to rub off on me! The way you group things together and revive furniture with paint...I love it! Keep up your excellent work!

  27. People like frosty have to much time on their hands!! They should get off the internet and read a good book or volunteer their time to a worthy cause!

I am in love with this blog, white, blue, yellow, chippy--Cindy's Blog ROCKS!!

  28. Way to tell Frosty a thing or two. Very nicely done.

  30. I, too, don't have much white in my house. But, I absolutely love your decor and your sense of style. I gain a lot of inspiration from you, even if I don't paint it white! (Though I am planning a mostly white enclosed back porch.)

Of the oodles of blogs out there, why waste time reading one you don't care for? Or commenting negatively? That I really don't understand!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a P.O.S. this Frosty person is...no, I'm trying to be lady-like and I mean Piece of Stuff..LOL (maybe)...Anyway, has this person been invited on TV as you have??? You are a real sport for exposing Frosty to the rest of us and not just deleting "it's" comments...Way to go! ;-) Bo

  32. Like many others here, I don't have an all white room in my house. I guess it is a holdover from all those years in Navy housing! But I do think it is a beautiful look..refreshing, clean, serene. I enjoy seeing all manner of decor! There is always a complainer in every crowd...like old Frosty. I guess we sheep will just have to *warm* up to her/him!

Thank you for always being so much fun here!

  34. Seriously...Frosty doesn't have anything better to do with his/her time than spread negativity on such a wonderful and inspiring blog????? Shame on him and kudos to you for being classy as usual. Colors shouldn't matter in decorating or in life!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Baaaaa, this sheep thinks white is lovely and she also thinks that Frosty should learn how to spell. Darling, it's bitten, not biten. *sigh* Trolls will be so dull!

  40. Dear "Frosty" ...
My parents taught me that "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

  42. Way to be posting something positive to the negative.

Are you sure this wasn't someones husband? It kind of sounds like something a guy would say... :)

As always you have such a creative way of viewing things that bring them outside the box. Love the white, have for a longtime. Actually since I've been visiting your blog regularly along with some of the links, I've come to love all sorts of pastels that I never noticed before! Including Pink! It's all good! Thanks, thanks, thanks!

  53. White is clean and fresh. I have printed off many of your ideas so that when I buy the new house for which I am saving, I can incorporate them. I want as much of my house as possible to be blue, white, and seashells. I have some very cute pictures of how seashells were used in a bedroom and bathroom. I would like to have one room in forest green, cream, bamboo, and brass (a bedroom), but the rest will be in glorious clean white. I am going to copy your picture frame ideas for the bedrooms and living room. You are a budget decorating genius, and I am so happy that I found your blog. Those who do not like white can go read on a purple blog :). There is somewhere for everyone online these days.

Thank you, Cindy, for sharing so much with us. You really should be editing a decorating magazine.

  55. When I read the comments the other day and saw the one from "Frosty" I thought it was a little strange, but since I am new to blogging, figured it happens from time to time. Sometimes I think someone just leaves a strange comment just to see how many people they can get stirred up and "comment" about them. Frosty is probably checking back every day to see what we all say....
I love your blog pages and it looks to me like a whole lot of other people do too. As for being called a sheep...shoot, I've been called worse over the years. lol.
    Keep up the good work.

  56. White is pure,it is soft, it is whispy. It is crisp white blouses. Starched linens that smell wonderful. It is beautiful flowers that light up at night. It is soft fluffy diapers on a sweet baby's bottom and cotton clouds up in the sky. It's cookies and milk when you are sad. It's a brides hope for happily ever after!
It goes with every color under the rainbow. It is the best!

  65. I missed the initial Frosty comments but wanted to say that it's weird that this person would call people who gather in one spot to exchange thoughts and ideas over the shared love of a particular decorating style (and all the differences within that style) "sheep."

To carry that line of thinking to the next step, "Frosty" probably thinks that people who gather together over a shared love of a particular genre of book or movie are sheep too.

It's an incorrect way of thinking, and I hope "Frosty" addresses her bitterness before it gets the best of her.

    ReplyDelete
  66. You took that comment much better than I would. I thought your post about the comment was handled with good taste. We can only hope that Frosty does not continue with this nonsense!

  88. Cindy, at least you didn't get the rude comment I did saying that three of the four blog friends I posted a pic of, quote, "needed to lose weight and stop hanging out buying 'junk' at our favorite antiques/vintage place, which is a pastime for old biddies".

I have a feeling I know who that was - she needs to get a life. Funny thing is, she's the short, really fat one, so what does that tell you!

Some people are just mean and spiteful - I hope they find something nice in life before their time in this lovely world is over.

Love your mosaics - the blues are anything but, they make my heart sing.

  91. Hi Cindy,
Whatever happened to "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"?

You answered back with grace. I can never understand why people leave nasty comments anyway and if they do, they should at least have the nerve to not post anonymously. That's just this little sheep's opinion. I actually find it a little amusing that someone puts that much energy into returning back again.

  92. Hi Cindy, I agree with Belladella--
my Mom always told me that "if you don't have anything nice to say about anyone, then don't say any
thing at all." Frosty must not have learned that lesson. You were very gracious in your response, Cindy. That just goes to show what a lovely and classy lady you are. As for me, I LOVE white! Of course, it doesn't fair very well with all of our pets but I still love the calming effect it has on me. Maybe Frosty will let us see her home in the future! Becky

  98. Your white collage is STUNNING! Makes my heart skip a beat. To think of all the businesses out there that thrive on all white too! French Vanilla (antique dealers...see them at Marburger and their house was in BH&G Garden Style book), Vanille, Pom Pom Interiors in California. I have a shop and just recently changed the name from White Cottage to Urban Farrmhouse. I found that even after 5 years of being open there were people right in my own town that had NEVER been in before. They thought it was nothing but white. Why is it people have such a hard time seeing the textures, the layers, the creams, beiges, whites, off whites, grays, pale blues, tans, ecrus, oatmeals? Sigh, I think they are just not creative souls like you. It's more than just white and the fact that we have to explain it probably means it will fall on deaf ears. Stumbled on your blog while surfing...is very nice, thank you!
