Weekend in Santa Cruz - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!

Last week my girlfriends and I spent Thursday - Saturday in Santa Cruz, CA.  It's only about 30 minutes away from home but it was like a mini vacation.  One of the friends made the amazing Caprese Salad with heirloom tomatoes pictured above.  What put this over the top was the basil salt that she made.  I don't have the exact recipe but she said you take fresh basil and sea salt and put it together in a food processor, then you spread it out on a baking sheet and bake it on low until the basil dries up.  She put it in a salt shaker and put it on the tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.  It was so good!  She put this salad together in our hotel room!  

We had a blast on Friday night. We went down on the beach to a concert.  A local band that has been around since I was in high school, Pappa Doo Run Run was playing.  

Earlier in the summer some 20-something young guy came up to us and told us we look like the Golden Girls.  I think he must have seen the shock in our faces so he quickly said "in their teenage years."  Now we call ourselves the Teenage Golden Girls!  Haha!

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has free concerts every Friday night in the summer.  It's the perfect venue to listen to good music right on the California Beach!  This concert was the last one of the season.

Good times with good friends!   Life doesn't get better than this!  We are headed back to Santa Cruz again this weekend! This time we will be staying at my friend's parent's beach house!  I'm really sad that summer is ending but this was a great way to end it!!
