I took a ton of pictures this weekend for my blog because by the time I get home from work during the week it's dark outside and the pictures just don't come out as nice without the natural light (I miss summer). I took some photos of a beautiful lace tablecloth and some other items my mom just gave me. Then my friend Nelson called me Sunday afternoon to see if I wanted to go to Santa Cruz with him and I went even though I should have stayed home to clean house. We had so much fun! I took a bunch of pictures in Santa Cruz. He took me to see a beautiful Bed & Breakfast Inn he just found and I took pictures of that. We went on a tour inside and I took more pictures. Well....last night I went to upload all these wonderful photos and there weren't any pictures in the camera!!! I didn't have the memory card in the camera...can you believe that!!! How could I be that stupid! Without my reading glasses on I didn't see that every photo I took had an error message telling me there wasn't a memory card!!! So I looked through my photos on my computer to see if by chance there was something...anything that I could blog about today and this is what I found...my soon-to-be 16 year old daughter Lauren. These were taken a couple months ago and we were having so much fun laughing that I knew I had to get pictures of her to remember the moment...
It all started with us watching TV and her eating an ice cream cone. The next thing I hear is her opening the freezer again. In disbelief, I asked her if she was going to eat a SECOND ice cream cone. She told me NO that she ate all the ice cream off her 1/2 eaten cone and she wanted to add a little more to it. She comes out with this itty bitty cone topped off with a huge scoop of ice cream.I don't know why but I could not stop laughing and I snapped these photos...
What precious pictures of Lauren. It is so wonderful to have the memories of those times with our children. It doesn't take an expensive trip or some fancy event. The best times are those spur of the moments with spontaneous laughter that are the dearest in our lives.
ReplyDeleteYou can always retake those other pictures, but these moments are the most treasured to have captured.
Love the photos of Lauren.Great feature on lookiloos as well!

CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I'VE DONE THE SAME THING, OH WELL, I LIKED THE PIC'S OF LAUREN, SHE'S BEAUTIFUL...
ReplyDeleteCindy,
ReplyDeleteIf I had a nickle for everytime I have done that I probably could retire tomorrow. Isn't that the most frustrating thing. I guarantee you, you aren't the only one!! My Mom once took a lot of pictures of the snow when we lived in Arizona (needless to say it doesn't snow there very often) and she forgot to put film in the camera!
Lauren is adorable. I like her idea, small cone, lots of ice cream! My kinda girl!!!
There's nothing but a good laugh! I just wondered about that small cone when I first saw the photo.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a shame to forget what one must remember. It's good though, that you still have the cloth and the B%B hopefully will be there to so you are able to take new photos.
Hope you have a nice day.
Love Elzie
I just changed my comment name!
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteShe is so pretty! You are lucky that she lets you take photos of her. Katie won't let me take any unless she is with her brother, or a friend.
And congrats on Lookiloos! It's a wonderful piece!
Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving,
xoxo,
Mary
sorry about your camera,Lauren is such a beautiful girl,
ReplyDeletewish you a happy Thanksgiving
I did the exact same thing once when my daughter caught this HUGE fish in the lake by our house.
ReplyDeleteThere was no memory in the camera! Needless to say, everyone thought I was an airhead. LOL
Cute pics of your daughter!
Thank God you are going back to SC. I lived there and New Brighton Beach and Capitol many years. I am now in Florida and your site means so much to me. Cheers me up while I am recovering TKR and frozen shoulder. So glad to hear you are doing well and I'm praying for your cottage.
ReplyDeleteMy freind gave me a little ornament years ago and I now have my "little cottage". Just in the wrong state.
Adorable photo essay of your daughter! Thanks for sharing those with us!
ReplyDeleteSweet:>) I have a Lauren too:>)
ReplyDeleteI LIKED THE PIC'S OF LAUREN, SHE'S BEAUTIFUL...I HAVE DONE THAT EXACT SAME THING...THANK GOD FOR MY BIFOCALS BUT WITHOUT THEM IM AS BLIND AS A BAT!
ReplyDeleteThat's cute, Cindy. Lauren looks a little like you and hey, the ice cream cones were soooooooo little.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Cherish the fun times with your daughter at that age. They grow up and leave home way too soon!! Sally
ReplyDeleteLauren is priceless....a girl after my own heart with the ice cream. Hey, how is your Nutri-System going, you haven't said. You haven't been by in awhile, I miss you.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I enjoyed the fun time, you spent with your daughter! I remember those days! Can't wait to see the B&B
ReplyDeleteI'm here from Bo's blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that someone else beside myself, does things like this!
Oh Cindy-LoL! How freakin funny!
ReplyDelete~Tam :D
Great photos!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Rosemary
Oh this happens to us all. My husband took pictures last year of our 14 1/2 year old's cheer competition. We had the cheer sleepover at our house and the 11 girls were all geeked and excited to be able to watch their performance. My husband goes to pop in the tape only to discover that he forgot to put in the tape when he was filming!!!! He had plenty mad at him that time LOL.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sher
Hell, there's nothing wrong with you that a little more time to yourself to clear your head wouldn't cure. You're a busy woman. Working and being a single mother. Just wait till menopause, hon. Then you won't be able to remember your camera even. At least at that time, though, your kids will be grown and you will have more time to yourself. You'll be sad when they leave home (your girl), but after awhile you'll get glad!

I loved this post.
ReplyDeleteAction, laughter and food.
Perfect.

Oh Cindy, it is so nice to know that someone besides me does something like that. Don't you just want to kick yourself? Well Your daughter is so cute. Umm....I think I need some ice cream now.Have a wonderful evening.

Cindy! I have done that too! But the pictures of your daughter and you having so much fun was worth the mistake!
ReplyDeleteI have a new blog..come take a look!
Hi Cindy!
ReplyDeleteJust checking your blog today and discovered the exciting news about Saturday's post! What an awesome article about you ~ you most definitely deserve it! I've checked out several blogs, but you've got that something special that is so inviting and interesting. I look forward to visiting daily, as do so many others, judging from the comments.
Lauren is VERY pretty and natural, and I sure enjoyed the pics! I panic if I leave the house without my reading glasses! Just the other day I thought I'd lost them and they had fallen between the carseat and the cardoor ~ the seatbelt had knocked them off while I had gotten out of the car.
Take Care!
Karin
LOL! I know you didn't think it was funny though. You have a lot of company. Your daughter is quite beautiful. It was a treat for us to see the cute pictures of her, Cindy.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I think we've all done something like that. It's so disappointing too.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, but I've also done what Lauren has done with the icecream cone...have to refill it.
She has beautiful hair and hair color.
Ginger
What a bummer...but I do like that you shared this great memory of time with your daughter, with us. She is a beautiful young lady.
ReplyDeleteyour daughter is darling. the good news is you now have another reason to go to Santa Cruz. How about lunch at the Palomar?
ReplyDeleteDarling pictures of your daughter. Treasure those times - it all goes so fast! (I KNOW FIRSTHAND!!)
ReplyDeleteAnd on the camera thing - you can console yourself that at least you weren't documenting some important life event...like a wedding.
Those pics of your daughter are just so darling!!! And I love the idea of going back to get a fresh scoop of icecream on a small cone...GREAT IDEA!!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your pics though...Have fun when you go back there this weekend!!!
Blame it on the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays! I posted a comment tonight on my blog --
ReplyDeleteR E L A X !! Now if only I can remember to do that!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
Smiles..
Valarie
Photos of Lauren are great. So sorry you took all that time to capture photos to share only to discover that you didn't. We all have off days (I have more than most) and honestly, I got a tiny smile knowing that you sometimes have a mishap too. Well, ya know I think you're perfect.
ReplyDeletelove the pictures, she is one very beautiful girl, I'm assuming you are keeping her locked up?? lol!
ReplyDeleteI've done it too...sigh
Sarah

Aren't daughters the best! My 18 yr old was in Yosemite over her brothers b-day so I left my blog up on the computer so she could see it and she came in my room last night and said awwww mom that was so nice for Tracy I wish it was my birthday. I'll be blogging about her soon I have a feeling. Your Lauren is beautiful.

Been there-Done that! except in my case it was my daughters prom.
ReplyDeleteI took some great pictures, I was so upset, her friends gave us copies which I appreciated very much, but it just wasn' the same.
You have a beautiful family and that was a great post of Lauren with the ice cream, reminds me of similar times with my girls.
Lauren is absolute beautiful, and what wonderful memories you will have when you look back at these pictures. I'm glad you had a card in your camera when you were doing this. laurie
ReplyDeleteCindy,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I was able to see these "real life" photos of your life. Seeing Lauren's smile really did brighten what has been a challenging day for me. She is beautiful, you should be so proud! I know it's hard raising a teenager, but it seems like you two have a great relationship...I hope Arden and I are like this when she is 15. I know you have put dating and such behind you until Lauren is older, that shows so much about your priorities to your daughter, I commend you. It's wonderful you are so close with your family, cherish it!

Oh Cindy, It was so sweet seeing these pictures of Lauren! She looks a lot like you... Reminds me of you in ways. Very sweet. thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm SO sorry about the photos. I've totally done that before and for the SAME reason. I hate that! LOL
You both have that beautiful red hair! Too cute!
ReplyDeletethat's not like you to call yourself an idiot (i'm singing that to you in a sing-songy way)...cute pictures...i've done that VERY same thing with the ice cream! yum! blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh Cindy, how funny! Yes, I can believe you did that because I did the EXACT same thing. We had gone to St. Thomas in the mid 80's & bought a super expensive new camera there. Came back home all nice & tanned & ready for my 10 yr. reunion. Hubby made TONS of pics with the new camera ~ in fact, I was named MRS. MHS, along with a former boyfriend who is no longer living. Hubby made such fun wonderful pics & everyone was giving me their address asking for copies of pics.....got home & realized there was NO film in camera. Talk about feeling like idiots. Memories that could never be replaced. And shhh, you are the only one I've ever told what REALLY happened. Everyone at the reunion just thinks they all came out super blurry, not worth copying! LOL
