The Tiny Apartment Kitchen - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!

I've been in my "new" apartment since February. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by! I've been here almost 5 months already which means I'm halfway through my 10 month lease! My lease is 10 months but my rent can't go up until I've been here 12 months, and since I have to give 30 days notice before I move out I only have about 6 months left to decide if I'm going to stay here or move again! To be honest the rent I'm paying here is a struggle...every single month! I really loved my old apartment a lot more than this place and this place is about $500 a month more! I'm still bummed that I had to move but I know my landlord knew I was paying way below market value!

Enough feeling sorry for myself! Actually I count my blessings every day! I have so much to be thankful for...we all do!

There are things I love about living here. The place is much cleaner than my last place even though they both built about the same time...in the late 60s - early 70s.

So, this is my tiny kitchen! I thought my last kitchen was small but this one is even smaller but I love that it's open to the living room. I think I'm also loving being on one floor. I love two-story homes like my old apartment but I sure don't miss climbing the stairs a million times a day!

I'm slowly switching from dark blue and white to Aqua and white. I'm still looking for a cute aqua rug for my kitchen so until then I still have a navy one there.

So this is sort of funny...when I looked at this place I thought it had tile floors in the kitchen and dining room. The same flooring is in the bathrooms. It wasn't until I moved in and was barefoot that I realized it wasn't tile, it was vinyl flooring! I was shocked that I was fooled! Now that I know, it seems so obvious! I sure wish it were tile! Oh well!

My Little Apartment Patio - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! My little patio is still a work in progress but I thought I would share some photos with you. I don't get much sunlight here so my plants aren't doing as well as I would like. The only sunlight I get is in the earlier evening which is when these photos were taken. (oops, I forgot to put the broom away before I took these photos!)

Here is the view from the walkway. As you can see I had to put some wire mess up so the dogs won't squeeze through the railings! There is a big fern tree just outside my patio. Unfortunately I just got the lowest frond of it in the photo.

It sure isn't as nice as my old patio which I shared back in 2008 and then again in 2009. I miss that little patio that actually now seems big since this one is even smaller! I think if I work on this one a little more I can turn it into something wonderful though!

Although I now have a very small outdoor space, just outside my front door I have a much better view....

Show and Tell Friday - Lots and lots of Cupcakes

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! Sorry I'm so late getting my post up this week! It's just been one of those crazy weeks! First some computer issues and then I had these photos on my iPhone and had trouble emailing them! Finally I think I got all my issues resolved!

Last weekend I made cupcakes to bring to a baby shower. The colors were pink and brown so I decided to make some pink and chocolate roses on top of my cupcakes. I made about 70 cupcakes and like usual I was running short on time so I had to decorate these at lighting speed! I would have liked to have spent a little more time getting them just right but I was lucky that I got them done on time! My hand was so sore from piping frosting on so many cupcakes!

I also used my "Giant" cupcake pan and made a giant cupcake because I was worried that there wouldn't be enough cupcakes! There were 75 people invited to this shower! Luckily they all didn't show up!

I'll be making some more cupcakes Saturday for a BBQ I'm going to Saturday evening but I'm going to make mini-cupcakes this time. I'll probably still be rushed again this time because I'm meeting my niece and her family in Santa Cruz in the morning for brunch. They are here visiting from Arizona and Saturday is the last day they are in the SF Bay Area before driving to Southern California and then back to Arizona! This will be the first time meeting my Great Niece and Nephew...and they aren't babies! They are school-age! I'm so looking forward to finally meeting them. I feel like I've seen them grow up through Facebook.

I always seem to over-book myself. My life seems so rushed lately! I guess that just means I'm filling my 24 hours a day with lots of life!
