Hi all! Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  Sorry I was MIA last week! I meant to put a post up last Thursday morning before I headed to the beach with my girlfriends for a few days and I totally forgot to do it! I didn't have my laptop with me so there wasn't anything I could do!

 

I've had a very fun extended weekend and unfortunately I don't have anything new to share except some photos from my fun weekend and the old mosaic above.

 

 

My friends and I went to a big Labor Day party last Monday. Please excuse my wet dress...it was in the 90s and I poured some water on me to cool down! I had no idea I it looked that bad! I brought my big sun hat to stay cool and when I arrived at my friend's house friend decided to bring a bunch of hats...that's why they are wearing sombreros!

These are out of order...this one below was taken Thursday night at the beach. We always go to the last beach party at the Crow's Nest which is a restaurant in Santa Cruz. I think this summer we only made it to two of them...the first one and the last one! It's a huge dance party on the beach with live music...it's so much fun!

 

.... and then Friday night we headed over to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for the last music on the beach party there. Summer just seemed to go by so fast this year! I'm a little sad to see it go...I've been having such a blast this year! 

 

...oh and we even went to another dance party outside at a park on Saturday night!  Four nights of fun!

 

So as you can see I've been out having fun with my girlfriends and not doing much around my home these days but I love to see everyone's posts...so please join in!

Summer Fun - Show and Tell Friday

Hi and Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I have nothing from my home to share with you  this week and I almost just posted an old photo from the past but then I remembered I had these photos on my iPhone from last weekend!  

See...there is a reason why I don't have much to share this summer...I've been out having fun!  Last weekend my friends and I did an over-night trip to the beach for our friend Gina's birthday.  Santa Cruz is only about 30 minutes away but it's always fun to stay over-night! 

The Santa Cruz Boardwalk has free concerts on Friday nights in the summer and last Friday we went to see Eddie Money. It was so packed that we stood around and watched for awhile but then ended up just riding the amusement park rides instead.

 

 The photo below is from the drive down there. We road got shutdown because a tree had fallen across it.  We had to sit in the car with the engine off for quite awhile before they cleared the road!  Time to snap photos, clean out the glove boxes, laugh about stupid things we did in the past...I was laughing so hard I was crying! Although we were ready to get to the beach we sure made the most of being stuck in traffic!

I have to get cotton candy every time I go to the Boardwalk.  They are lucky I actually shared it with them! lol

I feel so fortunate to have such amazing girlfriends!  When we are together it's all about having fun!  We'll be back to Santa Cruz for three days next week too! I  can't wait!

A new soap dispenser - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! 

 

 Before I get to the little thing I'm sharing this week, I have some good news to share! 

 

 I mentioned before that I was in training to become a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and I'm happy to say that after 30 hours of training, I was sworn in by the judge on Tuesday!  For those that don't know...I will explain it as quickly as I can. It's a volunteer opportunity to work with kids in Foster Care.  A CASA is an advocate for the child. You spend time with them (2-3 hours a week) and you also are in contact with their social worker, their teacher, etc. You are a volunteer advocate for the child.  Your write reports to the court about them. You go to court when they have hearing about their case (about every 6 months, up to 18 months). 

 

A child in Foster Care has many people in their lives that are being paid (social workers, attorneys, etc.) but a CASA is just there because they want to be a volunteer advocate for a child! It's probably the most fulfilling volunteer opportunity out there! If you love kids and have the time I would strongly suggest looking into it! You can really make a difference! 

 

My next step is to read some cases and pick the child I want to be an advocate for.  That should be happening very soon! I could go on and on but I won't because I'm sure about 90% of you haven't even read this far but if you have...thank you!!!

 

On to the material things...but these days, even though I like beautiful things, they just aren't as important to me any longer but I did buy a cute little soap dispenser at Marshalls the other day. It has hand soap in it now but I plan on using it my kitchen for dish soap. I've been on the look out for a cute dish soap dispenser for years and I finally found one!  It was only $7.99! 

 

Since I'm slowly switching to aqua colors it was perfect!
