As many of you may have noticed...my passion has changed lately. Although I still love my home and decorating I'm also more involved in getting myself in better shape and getting out and enjoying life more!
I've lost weight and I've been working out. Along with that I've really been motivated to become the best that I can be at 50! It was a milestone birthday last year that made me realize that I wanted "Over the Hill" to be greener than the other side of the hill I was leaving. Most of us have that choice, it's just a matter of whether you want to work for that greener side or not! I realized I do!
I don't mind getting older (it's inevitable), I just want to be the best I can be at any age! I've noticed that there are huge differences in how people my age look! This really hit me last year when I was on the online dating sites. The guys that were fit looked so much younger than the men that were out of shape, yet they were the same age! Then I peeked at the women's profiles and noticed the same thing. This really hit home for me.
I want to look young!
I want to be healthy!
I want to be fit!
I want to live long!
I want to be the best I can be!
I know it is possible, you just have to want it bad enough... this is my new passion! So, because I love blogging so much (which is obvious from my license plate)....
I've started a new blog! It's about beauty, fitness, healthy recipes, and fashion for women over 50!
I'm not an expert at all in any of these and I'm still a work in progress...I'm still working at losing my last 20 lbs but I thought maybe we can all inspire each other!
I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions on the topics I post! I think that is the great thing about blogging...there is so much inspiration out there!
My new blog is: Fit and Fabulous over Fifty! I hope you join me over there once in awhile!
I'll still be here at My Romantic Home too!
Good for you Cindy... I've been over 50 for some time now and though it is more challenging than in my Youth, I do find that you can still be fit & fab over 50 if you are intentional about it.

It's so funny that I read this today. I'm in the process of starting a new blog to record my last year of being 49 (which I just turned on July 7th). When I turn 50 next year, I want to be in the best shape I have ever been in my life. And now I read your blog...lol...I think it's AWESOME!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I just turned 58 ast week and I still want to be fit and fabulous! I think our generation looks so much younger than our parents did at this age. Just take a look at old photos! I will be going over there now and joining in! Thanks Cindy!~Hugs,Patti
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Cindy!
ReplyDeleteIt's great we can tailor our blogs to suit us at any given time, but this change merits a whole new blog.
I was 51 this year and I intend to follow and hopefully, get some of your 'get-up-and-go' spirit to rub off onto me!
Good luck,
Z xx
Your might want to check out the Life Extension Foundation (lef.org) which is dedicated to find and publicize nutritional information that helps us be much healthier. (Kind of steep learning curve, but valuable information.)
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Your changes last year were an inspiration to me, and I have thought about it often since turning fifty this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Good for you!! Running to look now...glad you'll be here as well!
ReplyDeleteI have that milestone birthday in 3 months, and I decided earlier this year that I want to look fabulous at 50 - Valerie Bertinelli was my inspiration - I haven't worn a bikini in years, but I wanted to look good in one by my 50th birthday. That doesn't mean I want to go out in public in one, but it would be nice to have that goal!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've lost 30 pounds, and I have 8 pounds to go to put me in the "not overweight" category (based on BMI), but would like to lost 20 more pounds from where I am right now by my 50th birthday. I'm cutting in close, but I'm going to try.
I've started lifting small weights on a regular basis mostly because I was sick of the "bat wings", and want toned arms more than anything else. I use the gym in my community for other weight training, but doing hand weights is something I can do at home while I'm watching TV etc.
Good luck on your new blog - I think it is a wonderful idea!
I cannot wait to join your new blog. It is exactly what I'm looking for. I just answered a question today, what age would I love to stay, should I have a choice and my answer was 50! I need to drop 20 pounds so bad!!!! I'm heading to your new blog!
ReplyDeleteYou are one very ambitious lady, Cindy. How on earth do you find the time to do all these things? I wish I was as organized. I get too overwhelmed with all the "to-do's" of a day. I'll head on over to your new blog and hopefully get inspired. Really glad, though, that you're not abandoning My Romantic Home because it has become one of my very favorite sites...and I also love your Show & Tells because I've also found some favorites from that, too. I'm in the 50s, a baby boomer of course, and I think you can really fill a void with your new site. For instance, some while ago, I was searching and searching online for "over-50" suitable hairstyles. It's hard when your hair starts to thin or get really gray when you've been accustomed to different textures, color and "weight" of the hair. Your "old" hairstyle often just doesn't work anymore. And it was so odd one day when I realized I just couldn't buy a certain outfit because it wasn't "age-appropriate." You have to look at yourself a different way, and not give up, but just sort of re-direct and re-think. Like you're saying, not frumpy, but FAB. I look forward to lots of good tips about being fearless! I've had people in my age group fall on a bike, break a limb, etc. Finding myself too cautious about things like that. You're a good example of taking the plunge, getting out there with your helmut and saying, "heck, yes, I can ride a bike again!" And we're seeing what all this exercise is doing to your figure/weight, plus you seem really happy, so blog on, Cindy, 'cause we need all your secrets to success!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome Cindy, you are so inspirational! One of my closest friends turns 50 this Oct., she's doing the online dating thing so I'll have to let her know about your new blog:)
ReplyDeleteI saw Jane Fonda on the news yesterday and she wrote a book about being in her 70's and being happier than she's ever been! Keep it up and keep inspiring us:)
This new blog speaks to me. I am closing in on 50 and would love to be the best me I can be! I'll be "following" you on over there! I can't wait to read all the new posts!
ReplyDeleteDiane
This is great Cindy! I'll pop over to check it out and good for you!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
Right there with you Cindy! I turned 50 this year and although I had been trying to do better I have taken a whole new approach to being healthy. My son is a vegan foodie with a degree in enviromental science with a food systems background. Anyway, I tell you this because he has been giving me and my hubby little nudges to help us lose weight. He also sends us documentaries that we should watch about food and health. I have been a vegetarian for 6 months now and have recently decided to give being a vegan a try. I am on my way to being a healthier mom and am happier for it! I'm headed over to your new blog now... thanks! t. xoxoxoox
ReplyDeleteMy fifties were the most fun for me! Really like your new blog, Cindy. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW.. that number plate is so cool :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you & if you permit me I'll start using your maxims:
ReplyDelete"I want to look young!
I want to be healthy!
I want to be fit!
I want to live long!
I want to be the best I can be!," cause I think that are one of the best words I heard, congratulations, Julia from Argentina
Wonderful shades of words...Great post at the right time for me..
ReplyDeleteThank you for your generous efforts in constructing this blog & sharing with everyone…
