It's the Dolce-Hayes Mansion in San Jose, California. It's a hotel and conference center. I bet everyone that works any where near Silicon Valley has been here before for offsite meetings! I've been here quite a few times with different companies over the years.
For Thanksgiving they had a big buffet and it was really good! They had the traditional Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. but they also had so much more! There was a cold seafood bar with raw oysters, prawns and crab legs and a huge dessert bar. You can see the menu here. I didn't feel comfortable taking photos inside the restaurant so I'll just share the outside with you...
This is the most nontraditional Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. It's very different eating out at Thanksgiving but I'm thankful I won't have a fridge full of leftovers! I don't need that!!!

Sounds like it was perfectly wonderful. And you had some nice mother-daughter time I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beautiful, vivid pictures. My daughter and I also went out today. We wanted to do something different today because our lives changed in September. Aren't we blessed to have such wonderful daughters?
ReplyDeleteNow on to Christmas...hope you were able to get some decorating in during the week, especially since you weren't feeling well. May you continue to improve and get back to "normal".
Lovely place Cindy!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place to have had dinner! And you are right about "at least not having leftovers". They are good but, it gets old FAST! Hubby & I will be at a wonderful buffet like that for Christmas. So glad you enjoyed it. The grounds were lovely. Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful place to share a great day! We chose to go out today in leui of a big dinner at home, and it seems many of our friends did the same. I think so many of us stay so busy that it's hard to find to plan and cook for a big gathering anymore. I envy those who can fit it all in.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures of Thanksgivings past. My mother is a blue and white fan, and I email her pics of your home often. She doesn't understand the concept of blogs yet, so I must rely on the visuals I can send her.
Have a wonderful holiday season!
It looks very swanky, definitely a non-traditional look. You know, I've never had an oyster, and I don't plan on ever having one. I can't imagine having a seafood buffet as part of Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your Christmas decor! Hope you're feeling better.
I've read some of your previous posts and see you are still not feeling up to par....hope you are back to your old self asap!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have had several Thanksgiving dinners out at a restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed it....mainly because I didn't have to do the cooking....LOL!
What a beautiful place for a celebration !
ReplyDeleteIn the "Old World" we don't celebrate Thanksgiving of course, but for a wedding anniversary it would suit me too !
Oh, that looks like a lovely place to have Thanksgiving! I am glad you enjoyed your meal and had a relaxing time! Thank you for hosting "Show and Tell Friday". Blessings to you! Vicki
ReplyDeleteCindy thanks for hosting another fantastic 'Show and Tell' Friday. I enjoyed reading about your Thanksgiving meal. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Wow, what a luxurious place.
ReplyDeleteWhile eating out seemed strange to you, the great part is that you were with your family. That's what counts the most.
Thanks for sharing such lovely pictures.
This places are SO magical...

What a nice place to treat yourself and your daughter. Guess what we're having for dinner tonight? Turkey pot pie. Then it will be turkey curry, then..... Hope you're feeling better. Rosie
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fairytale! Glad you had a lovely thanksgiving. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place Cindy, I bet it was yummy! I sort of broke the rules too this time. I hope you get to feeling better too, has the pain eased up at all?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Linda
What a beautiful place to spend Thanksgiving, and you were with the one you love and enjoying good food, hopefuly the pain you were in is better and you didn't have to cook, how great is that:) although, biting into a cold piece of ham and eating a slice of pumkin pie with homemade whipcream the next day is pretty cool too :) Besos, Rose
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Cindy! I hope you are feeling better. I enjoyed stopping by here to catch up on your recent posts and thought I would tell you the unexpected inspiration I found here today. I am taking a break from decorating a birthday cake for a friend's daughter -- a monogrammed zebra-print purse -- and I like the way your zebra print tunic has the stripes angled. I am going to refer to your photo in laying out the strips on the cake. Isn't that funny? I always know I'm going to be inspired when I stop by, but sometimes it might be in an unexpected way!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! What a treat for you, a special place for a special day. Can't wait to visit there one day. xoxo Lidy
ReplyDeleteThe building is beautiful! I can only imagine how nice the inside is.
ReplyDeleteI did Thanksgiving dinner out once & it was really nice, but I missed not having extra pie that night! If I do it again, I'm making a pie anyway :)
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are better soon. Its hard to keep a good woman down so I think you will be up soon feeling like yourself.
Big hugs,
Elizabeth
Thanks for this beautiful post... it's where we had our wedding reception 11 years ago- Many wonderful memories for me! ♥
ReplyDeleteThe place looks beautiful. Who says you have to have a traditional Thanksgiving? You can do anything you want and even start a new tradition! Inge
ReplyDeleteI love it. This Thanksgiving it was just my husband, the baby and I so we opted for ordering instead of cooking all day.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better.
Very beautiful Cindy! I will have to check that out next time I am there!
ReplyDeleteHope your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Please be sure to enter my drawing again on my blog!
xo Molly

Glenda

ReplyDeleteTracey
Cindy, thank you so much for posting this. I had almost forgotten the venue. It was the last time I ever spent Thanksgiving with my beloved stepfather (who was more like a father to me) in 2001. I hope you had a lovely day. I know we did when we were there.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Sending lots of well wishes your way for a speedy recovery. Hope you were able to enjoy Thanksgiving, and I LOVE your new profile pic!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Angela
I did that sort of thing several years back for Christmas. Didn't have anywhere to go that year as far as friend or family so off to the Claremont Hotel we went for their buffet.
ReplyDeleteI don't like medical mysteries, do hope this was a result of something you did to yourself and nothing more than that. Hang in there. As we get older strange thing happen for no reason.
Ciao
What a beautiful location! I like to think that Thanksgiving is in our hearts~ not where we have it or what we eat. :)
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I start 3 weeks of craft and gift tutorials.
Come by and enter my GIVEAWAY.

Very beautiful place, it's nice to do something different once in a while too I think. I hope you are feeling better!!
ReplyDeleteLately, non-traditional holiday "days" are right up my alley! Something new and different, can be a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy....
ReplyDeleteWhoa........what a beautiful place. I thought you were going to say it was a friend's house.... :-) Maybe someday we'll be down that way and I can see the inside.
Warm blessings,
Spencer
