Feeding my addiction

There was a big box on my doorstep when I arrived home from work last Friday night. It was from my online friend Lorrie. She sent me a huge box full of vintage linens, a wonderful belated birthday gift! When I opened the box I felt a bit like an addict...is it possible to get "high" on linens? I really think I did and it was a great feeling! Lorrie has the same addiction as me but she seems to be getting better because she went through her own linen stash, which must be HUGE and sorted out these to give to me! How nice was that!!!
I had to look at each piece before I even thought about cooking dinner! I also had to call my mom as I was going through them because she's a linen addict also...it really does seem to run in families!

There are some beautiful things in that stack. I'll have to share closeups of some of them later.

Today is white Wednesday so if you go over to Kathleen's blog ~ Faded Charm, you can find more bloggers on her sidebar that are joining in!
Thank you so much Lorrie!

  3. What a beautiful addiction Cindy and happy belated birthday.
I guess I was in your neck of the woods last week. I went on a quest to hit as many shops listed in my Romantic Homes magazine and landed in Not Too Shabby. I went to both shops and learned that you shopped there as well. You lucky girl you.
    Enjoy your birthday gift.

I love them too. I have a lot of vintage pieces of crocheted lace that my mother-in-laws mom made. Now mother in law is 89, so these pieces are old!! Happy belated birthday too Cindy. Hope you enjoyed it. :)

I think we all have a secret passion for old linens. I have a stash too and I sometimes thin it out a bit but still have it.
    Enjoy!!
I especially love the family pieces I have. But they are all fun and I enjoy finding some when I thrift shop etc.

  25. Oh my gosh Cindy, you are so lucky! The linens are the first things I look for when I go out "hunting" - I made my kitchen curtains out of vintage tablecloths, and I've got stacks of things boxed up until I get someplace to put them. Don't you just love the way they feel, and smell, and the loving work that went into them....OOOOH, I'm so envious of that stack that just arrived at your house!!

  27. The linens reminded me of my mom, who is now in heaven. I miss her so. She loved linens too. I have many of her special napkins and tablecloths. She also was quite skilled at needlepoint and many of my runners were made by her.

  30. Hi Cindy, I see that your finches have a lovely home. Aren't they an interesting little bird. So flighty and active. I wish I had their energy.
I think I may suffer from the same affliction that you and your mother have...linen-itis.
    Hugs,
