Sunday Drive

It was HOT here this weekend...close to 100 degrees! Too hot to do anything so I sat around and watched a lot of TV which is something I don't do very often on the weekends. Yesterday afternoon Lauren and I were so hot and bored that we decided to go for a drive so we could at least be cool in the air conditioned car. We even took Beau with us! I grabbed the camera and we drove around the streets of Los Gatos to look at the pretty houses... It was too hot to even roll the windows down so there is glare on a lot of these photos.
(You can click on any of these photos to enlarge)

This house above is so teeny-tiny but so cute!

Luckily the weather is supposed to be really nice and only around 80 degrees next weekend for the 4th of July. I have Friday off so it will be a nice 3-day weekend!

  2. Sun! You have sun!!! Here in Boston we haven't seen the sun for most of June. And will prob have a grey 4th as well. I could do without the 100 degree temps, though!!! I am behind on your blog, and was looking at the nice, calming bedrooms, oohing and ahhhing, and comtemplating simplicity and then I scrolled down to your boudoir and the reaction was instant..your bedroom is just so home-y!!! I guess it's really my style, too!

  3. Hi, you must have lots of pretty homes to look at close to your home. The U.S. flags look so good on the front porches. Have a great holiday in cooler weather. We do a double celebration as is it Grandpa Joe's 86th birthday!

  8. Love the houses! That's one of my favorite things to do. Just driving around looking at houses and other buildings.

  9. I love the teeny house, too!

I am in awe of the house with the large white columns... I think they are painting them so it is even more awesome in that someone really lives in that gorgeous place!

  11. Love the little cottages. I'm a small house girl and those are my favorites!

  12. It's real hot here in Florida also. The way I see it, the hot summer months are my time for staying indoors like I would be doing if I still lived up north. We're fortunate to have about 8months of truly beautiful weather, so I can tolerate staying inside and playing house during the summer months.

I'm having a giveaway, if you want to stop by and see if anything strikes your fancy!!

  17. Tina, No I don't have air conditioning. The new apartments around here have it but mine was built in 1969.

  18. Oh I hear ya,...I like to go for rides around town and look at pretty houses, and yards, and flowers.

I enjoy the air conditioner and I put some music in the cd player and I'm in my element. It's peaceful,...and I get ideas while I take my little ride.

Every once in awhile I stop and go inside some model homes for more decorating ideas. (Kind of how I love hopping on over to your blog to look at pretty things! ((smile))

Sometimes I even drive thru Dairy Queen and get a Sunday while I'm at it.

Have a good week my friend!

  20. I really enjoyed your Sunday drive! Even with the slight glare, the photos were great. I love checking out homes like this. Many times I would look at the outside of neat homes and wonder who lives there. How fun and a way to stay cool in your air conditioned car!

  21. We have had nothing but rain here for about the, oh, I don't know, last 100 days!! Today it was only 62 degrees and, again, rain. Built a little fire in the wood stove......

  27. Hi Cindy. There are so many beautiful homes in the Bay Area, and those you chose to photograph in Los Gatos are no exception. As hot as this past weekend was, those houses sure look stunning in the sun and surrounded by lush green trees, lawns, and flowers! Thank goodness it's cooling down this week. Stay cool! ~Arleen

  28. I love the 7th house but can't make out what color it is. It almost looks chocolate with white gingerbread trim. Is it? The Shabby old house needs a paint job and a dark color would keep the road dirt from showing. Thanks for the tour. Hope you feel some cool breezes soon.

  32. Yuck, 100 degrees! Like Chez Sheri said, it's been so rainy here in Boston I think we forgot what the sun looked like. We had a peek at it on Saturday morning. Nice neighborhood you found there!

  34. I love Los Gatos ~ great pics!

...and belated THANK YOU for posting about Vintage & Vogue. I live on the outskirts of Campbell and never knew about that store. I went for the first time and ended up breaking (by accident, of course) a glass tray. I was mortified but the ladies there were so nice.

    LOVE your beautiful blog!!

    and yes...it's sooo hot!

  35. Hi Cindy, Thanks for sharing these pictures. I love driving around looking at old homes. It was hot here in SoCal also, hope it cools off!

  36. We also went for a drive on Sunday. A certain someone forgot her camera, so the houses with their own fishing piers were not captured.

The houses that you saw are lovely. I always enjoy your blog, looking forward to each post. :)

  37. I've been known to do that too, when the car is the only cool place to be.
What a nice looking neighborhood that is. I love the first house with the white picket fence.

  38. It's amazing to see the variety of homes, from cottage to mansion, but each one tells a story of living well.

  39. Aren't the houses charming? I love a lot of the architecture in the older parts of California towns. They are just perfect.

Hope you enjoyed your Sunday drive and that you are able to stay cool!
