Mint Julep Cups

I love the look of small bouquets in silver mint julep cups! There are a lot of gorgeous antique sterling mint julep cups on eBay but they are way too expensive for my budget. If you want the look but can't afford the real thing then you can find reproduction cups most any place that sells wedding supplies. I've seen them at Michaels and on eBay.

Getting that expensive look for less is what I love! Even the roses were a deal. I bought them this weekend for $5 a dozen at the grocery store! They must have been left over from Valentine's Day but they still looked great!

  7. Hi Cindy~ ~ ~
It has been my experience that a Mint Julep tastes so fine in any glass you care to put it in. It must be heavenly in the official cup although I have never tryed it in one. My friend Joy makes a devine libation with her fresh grown mint. I'll have to mention this to her. It will give us a new purpose when we go Antiquing! Maybe we will get lucky and find a great deal.
    Have a wonderful day!

  8. Hi Cindy-
I just love anything that is old silver. The julep cups are lovely, even more so with the roses in them. I have a question, is the blue room displayed on the right side of your top banner a room in your house??? I have had that same room living in my soul for some time now....What is that paint color?? It looks so heavenly! I would love to see more pictures of the room if it is yours!! Blessings- LillySue

  11. I see these silverplated all over the place. I have a few, I use for a pencil holder. Didn't think for a minute they were worth what they ask on Ebay.

  15. I just bought over 50 vintage julep vases for my reception. I got them from a wedding rental supply store that had closed down over 15 years ago and were barely getting rid of their supplies.
    Their loss my gain :)
    and once again,
    your page is just lovely.

  16. Ooo, pretty! Yes, I have even gotten them in the bath department at HomeGoods or Marshalls -- about $6. each. :)

    Love the roses!

  21. Hi Cindy! Thank you so much for the blog love and for the sweet comments. You just made Leslie's day. She sent me an excited e-mail telling me someone had just bought some earrings and they had found her through you. So thank you, girl!

I love the cups you have posted. Can you believe I passed 2 of them up at the thrift shop last week. I think they $2 bucks each. But I couldn't think of anything to do with them. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting them.

  34. The pink roses look beautiful, and thanks for the tip about where to find reproduction mint julep cups. Your blog is more beautiful than ever!!

On another note, I missed several weeks of your blog due to personal things going on in my life so I didn't know about you being published. My mom called me one day and asked what the name of the woman with the shabby chic blog I love is. She recognized you from the article in the Mercury News because I'm always sharing different things about you and your blog with her!! LOL!! I don't get the paper, but she saved the article for me. Congrats on being published and on all the other wonderful things that have been happening in your life!!! You should be very proud as you've worked hard and have had fun doing it......that's what makes you special!!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I put your button on my blog, Butterfly Whispers (link under my email address below).

    Thanks so much!!

  35. I love those, too! Mint juleps are special where my husband went to law school in Kentucky because of their association with horse racing and the Kentucky Derby. I don't drink, but still love a derby cup with a pretty bouquet. We have an antique derby cup that my husband's grandfather owned. I need to polish it up in time for the derby this year.

  36. Oh my! As I'm not American I wonder if those mint julep cups are very popular as they are so expensive at eBay? As the dollar has raisen so much towards the SEK they would be far too expensive for my budget too.
Love those roses. It's very difficult to get those here in Sweden. At least where I live.
Hope you have a nice day.
    Love Elzie
