I went to Marshalls on my lunch hour last Friday and I found this plant stand for $19.99! (excuse the messy topiary on the right (above), it really needs to be trimmed)
I originally was going to use it inside but for now I put it outside and just transplanted some impatiens that I already had.
I love the Fleur-di-lis detail! I couldn't believe this was only $20.00!

I was going to pull it out but I decided to wait and see what it becomes. Maybe it's a morning glory??? It has heart-shaped leaves. Anyone know what this could be? Perhaps it's just a weed? I'll keep you updated if it blooms. I think a morning glory might look pretty trailing down the side of it as long as it didn't get too big!

What a great find. I have no idea what is growing out the wreath, but I must say, it's really filling in. Hmm. I wonder what the "unknown plant" is?

ReplyDeleteLove the plantstand! One can never have too many and they're great for showcasing items besides plants. Being useful and decorative inside as well as outside is another reason I can never pass up a beautiful and inexpensive metal plantstand.

Oddly my Marshalls is mostly clothes now. They have a teeny home decor section. But right next door is TJ Max/Homegoods and half the store is all home related stuff. The wreath is beautiful!

Love the plant stand and the wreath. The mystery plant could be morning glories, or it could be a morning glory relative called bindweed. Bindweed is just like morning glory vine but smaller and when it blooms it has small pale pink or white flowers that look like, well, like morning glories!

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! I'm taking a break from bloggin but just took a couple seconds to see what you were up to. The wreath is gorgeous! The birds have planted that same vine in my yard and it is very invasive and I continually pluck. I did allow to bloom just to see and it was a morning glory like flower; mine were pale pink almost white. Looks like the identical leaf so I hope that helped? Love the plant stand too!!! It looks just like some wild morning glory (or at least that's what I call it) I have growing here in Texas. It seems to be blooming better than the ones I ordered from Renee's Heirloom Seeds! Not much, but a little.

As always....love it all...even the unknown plant appeals to me...the untrimmed topiary...all of it I find delightful! I have a less than productive green thumb with more success sewing leaves and flowers rather than growing them. Thanks for sharing it. Pat

ReplyDeleteI've heard that heart shaped leaf vine called several different names, but whatever it is, RUN, don't walk, to your garden and pull that sucker out and get rid of it. It is highly invasive and will strangle any other plant it comes in contact with. It is NOT morning glory. It multiplies faster than you can keep it pulled out if it gets a foothold in your garden. I know.

ReplyDeleteMy two cents. I think the plant is a wild violet. They do not vine, but grow from rhizomes and are quite invasive as well. They get in my garden and then into my grass, but are so pretty when they blossom. They blossom in the spring if you care to wait that long.

Your wreath is beautiful. I tend to agree with Annie who said RUN and pull that vine out quickly. Yes, it might be a morning glory, but if it isn't you will have a "kudzo type" vine covering everything one morning. If this vine begins to have little red berries, DO NOT let them land anywhere! That vine took over my back yard and it is now coming up all over my lawn! Even mowing doesn't help. Better to buy morning glory seeds...then you know what you have.
