You will need a styrofoam wreath form, ribbon or strips of muslin, shells or buttons (lots of them!) and a hot glue gun.
The first step is to wrap the ribbon around the wreath form and secure it a few times with a dab of hot glue here and there. For my button wreaths I ripped strips of muslin fabric and used that to wrap around the styrofoam. Either works fine because you won't really see it once you're finished.
The next step is to hot glue the shells (or buttons) on. Very easy just time consuming! Make sure the shells are going in different directions. I first added shells to the top and then added them to the inside and outside rim. Then I added small shells in the gaps to fill it in. I finished off my adding more shells on top to give it dimension.
Ohhh Cindy...that wreath is awesome! I have tons of shells..so I am gonna try to make a wreath of my own this week! I think 6 pounds lost is a great start...pick up a 5 pound bag of sugar and see..that is alot of weight! Way to go!

I love the seashell wreath. I'm going to try making one. Great directions!
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who used to go to craft shows with her shell wreaths and shell mirrors. Yours are unique too and just as beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI used Nutrisystem once when I was in mourning for my Mother and could not do anything but eat, watch TV and cry myself to sleep. I am sure it kept me from gaining 20 pounds ..but it sure was $$.
What a beautiful wreath! I love how it looks hung up with the ribbon.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath. I've been wanting to make something like that for years, just keep "not getting around to it." Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteJennifer
I don't have any seashells in my home (and I live a couple blocks from the beach) but that wreath is so pretty I just might make one AND with seashells. Thank you for sharing the 'how'.

ReplyDeleteHang in there with the Live-it (oops, Diet) ~ in the past 3 years, I've lost 65#. I've NEVER gained anything back...just slowly lost. I've gone from 2X and 20's to 12's and 14's (which are now too big on me!)
~Blessings,
Jan

You did a wonderful job on the shell wreath, and it looks so pretty hung on your wall with the ribbon. Thanks for the directions on how to do the wreath...I can't wait to try it out, I think with buttons! :)
ReplyDeleteThat does it. I'm buying a glue gun! I used Elmer's to glue shells onto statues, and they are pinging to the ground like mad! :-) AND the shells make the statues look like they're wearing hair curlers.
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the tips on the wreath! it's so gorgeous :) i'm a long time viewer of your blog. thought i'd finally say hey. i'm having a giveaway stop by and check it out
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, Your wreath is really cute, very talented. I need to be doing the same as for as dieting. Keep it up....

ReplyDeleteYou are doing well with Nutrisystem. Your dinner looks very yummy too. I found it was when I was on it.
ReplyDeleteThe shell wreath looks so pretty. I'll have to try it too.
Cindy, that's so pretty! I've been doing South Beach, have you ever tried it? I really love that it's a healthy way to eat and I've had really good success. But I agree, it takes me much more work now to lose weight than it did a few years ago.

At last-the instructions for the button wreath. I have been stalking your blog FOREVER, waiting for you to do this! So, you finally got me to leave a comment, because you did it! It looks easy enough (with your great directions), so I'm going to try it with some of those buttons I've collected. And, didn't you give some "button blog" names in one of your posts? I need to go back and check on that. Thanks for the directions. Laurie
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, I stop here often but hardly ever comment! Thanks for the tips on the wreath...it's beautiful! I joined Weight Watchers in April and have lost 23 pounds. It HAS to come off slowly to keep it off! Congrats! And YES! Pick up that bag of sugar and carry it around...it IS A LOT!
ReplyDeleteI adore the wreath. I am going to have to try to make one for myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous seashell wreath!! It is gorgeous and man I feel like I can smell the sea. I LOVE that!! Thanks so much for the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy for sharing directions for the seashell wreath. I'll have to give that a try!!
ReplyDeleteI've been considering join Nutri-System too ever since Marie Osmond had such fantastic results. I just signed up - last night (on-line) - and am awaiting my shipment. I'm 48 (49 in October) and nothing has seemed to work for me lately. But man, the pounds do pile on slowly, but have not been coming off. So, I'll give this a try. I have my husband's support. I want to loose 30 pounds.
Good luck to you too. 6 pounds is wonderful. Look at it this way. . . it's better than 6 pounds ON!!
Blessings,
Sher
Hello! Stopping over from Kimba's. Love how your wreath turned out!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wreath! I am very into seashells right now.. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the diet! Your doing great.
Cute...cute...cute...
ReplyDeleteI am also on the major diet plan. I don't know if you have considered the Wii fit but I really like it and can work out whenever. I've lost over 20-keep up the good work, it goes on easier than it comes off.
Your wreath turned out gorgeous! I love it with the starfish attached.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck with your weight loss goals. 6 #'s is awesome!
I love your wreath and I did it and made one. Not as big as yours but it's perfect me me..
ReplyDeleteThank you Thank you for the great tutorial....
I love your wreath and I am inspired to make one! We do not have Dollar Store near me-Michael's is the best I can do. I hope mine looks half as pretty as yours!
ReplyDelete~Nancy
I love the way you have decorated your home, that's so romantic.
ReplyDeleteEven i am feeling very good to comment on your blog.
Thanks for your beautiful idea and instructions. My boys and I just made a wreath with shells collected at the beach. It's for my sister. She'll love it. And are you still eating well/losing weight? I've had great success with the AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge and products.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough enough trying to mimic your beautiful home , but now I have to burn myself with a hot glue gun to make 2 wreaths I adore everything you do with your home. You need to write a book so that I can just completely copy you. Good Luck on the diet!
ReplyDeleteBree
How beautiful. We are on vacation now on Anna Maria Island, FL and shelling is going great. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteKathy

I am obsessed with your seashell wreath! I'm going attempt to make one for my mom for Mother's Day. I'm not sure I will get it to look as great as yours but if I can pull it off it will be perfect for her beach house! Thanks for sharing the directions.
