Mom and Dad

Pin It Now!

I feel so fortunate to have two wonderful parents. I always felt so loved when I was growing up. The photo in the frame above is my parents on their wedding day. World War II had just ended and my dad came home to marry my mom. The other photo is my dad as a young boy. I wish they had color photographs back then. My dad had red hair but I don't ever remember him being a redhead because it had already started turning brown and then gray when I was very young.
I just love looking at old photographs of families and seeing the family resemblances.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for the visit today. Yes I ordered from that site. And I love the birdhouse. I was out in the thrift shops the other day and found a small white picket fence to put around the edge. It well look so cute when I am done. I'll put it on the site when it's complete.
Did you put the buttons on the frame ?
I too love the photos of my parents. They both have passed away, and I have their wedding pictures along with other black and white photo's of times we had when we were all young. Camping etc...
Thanks
Glenda

Oh Cindy, you are so sentimental, just like me. I love my mom & dad so very much. I recently honored them with a huge 50th Anniversary party in my home.

Thanks for sharing a slice of your life with us here in blogland.

Love,

They actually did have color photographs at that time. I have some of myself in color but the color is exaggerated a bit. Greens are greener, reds far redder.
I think it was just not generally used at the time.

So Cindy, who do you resemble more...your mom or your dad?

Your button frame is adorable. Hmmm...I have some of my mom's old sewing buttons. I just might have to borrow your idea to frame one of my favorite photos of her that was taken when she was in high school.

I love the way that women dressed back then. Their hairstyles, their very dresses, and their total femininity were charming. My Mom used to dress like that.

Cindy, I have another question for you. I have some neat old chairs that I would like to do in white. Would you mind telling us what sort of paint you used on yours? Spray or brush, flat or ?, and brand? You are the expert, so I hope you do not mind my asking.

Thank you.

It's not a surprise to hear you talk so fondly of your parents. Every time you mention them here, even casually, it's obvious how much you love them, and how much they love you. What a blessing!

Hi again, just wanted to come by to let you know how much I'm enjoying your blog. And a huge thank you for sharing the directions to the coffee filter roses. If you get a chance, please check out the ones I made (RMS). I love your style, you could do a decorating book and I would want to be the first in line to buy it! Ksarra

Thank you for sharing that picture of your parents. On one of my posts I show my mother's wedding dress and a picture of my parents (also during WWII).
