Rosemary Topiary

Remember when I bought some rosemary plants and did my little project to turn them into a topiary (click here)? Well, don't be impressed because this is not one of them. Actually, to be honest both of those died. I'm not sure if I killed it by stripping it almost naked or if the heat killed it. Maybe the yogurt I smeared on the planter killed it...who knows??? Luckily I found this one at Trader Joe's last weekend for only $6.99. It came in a plastic pot so I transplanted into this terracotta planter for now. I'm going to be on the look out for a more decorative one ~ more romantic looking. I think I'll wait to see if I can keep it alive first.

    Cute find, great price! I have to tell you that I have killed more rosemary plants than I care to remember. If I manage to keep them alive outside all summer, they inevitably die when I try to bring them in for the winter. :(

    I love Trader Joes, but we don't have one. I buy a trunk load every time I go to St Louis or Indianapolis. Great prices and great stuff.

    I am so thrilled to know that I am not the only one that has trouble with plants. I am looking for a Rosemary Topiary, too. Your's is so sweet.

    That is so funny that you posted this today! I was wondering how your topiary was doing just today! I was reading an article on how to trim a a big bush into a spiral and that's what made me think of you.

    We got a Trader Joe's this summer and I haven't been in it yet. I really must get to it. Anyway, that's a great price on that rosemary and good luck with this one.

    What a cute little plant! I must be the family black thumb, because the only thing I can keep alive are the self sufficient desert plants that grow where I live.     I love the way rosemary smells. I tried to keep one in the house all last winter. Bob got a kick of how dry it got... he said I had dried rosemary on the stem.

    I always love those rosemary topiaries, but have never tried to grow a real one either. Hope yours makes it! We grow it outside & I sure enjoy cooking with it.

    Very cute...I am lucky that in my zone, I can plant rosemary and it lives year round..I have a few plants outside and just run out and snip whne I need some.

    Yes - Rosemary seems to do much better in the ground in Texas too, than in pots and especially better outside than in. I like your honesty though!

    The topiary is so cute! We love the smell of rosemary. Last year I took sprigs from my garden and tied bundles around my house! Great post!
