A Walk Through the Streets of Los Gatos

Yesterday afternoon I jumped in my car and drove about 10 minutes from my little apartment to the town of Los Gatos and parked my car and went for a walk. With Beau's leash in one hand and my camera in the other I walked up and down the streets taking pictures of the beautiful homes to share with you.
Look what I found (below)! This is the first house in my post I did about homes for sale in my area. It's so beautiful but it doesn't have a garage and I think for almost $3 million you should have a garage! When I finished my walk and was heading back to my car they were having an open house...I wanted to go in so badly but I didn't have the nerve, plus I had Beau with me and I'm sure they wouldn't like that!

Around the corner from that house I found this....

My new "dream home"!
Isn't is beautiful! I love the picket fence! Look at the house next door even! You know you're in California with those palm trees everywhere!!! I actually hate palm trees like that!

Below is the house on the other side of my new "dream home" It's under construction.

Let's look at some more homes in this quaint area...

There are a few ranch style homes mixed in....

This was a little cottage behind the main house. So cute!
I even stopped to smell the roses which are still blooming! It was a beautiful day with record-high temps. It was in the low 80s which is really warm for this time of the year!
After I walked around for awhile and Beau was getting tired I headed back to where I thought my car was parked but I couldn't find it!!! I had to go back and rewalk the whole area I just walked to find my car. I need to get a hand-held GPS if I'm going to do this again!
As I drove home we passed the Los Gatos Farmers Market which was closing down for the day...
Then up the street is Los Gatos High School. Olivia de Havilland went to school here....
I hope you enjoyed taking a walk with me!

  1. Such a beautiful area. I love the older homes with all the character and uniqueness. I like to drive through Pasadena for that very reason and do as you do. Park and walk. Have a fantastic day and thanks for the walk.

    Wish I could live there.

  14. Your too cute losing your car. I can just picture you living in that 'new' dream house. I would even take the one behind that is someone's back guest cottage. And Palm trees....i don't like them. Not very romantic and pretty.

  16. Great walk! And, I didn't have to exert any energy, but I didn't reap any exercise benefits either. Just the benefit of seeing beautiful homes was enough. Sally

  17. Wow! Wonderful post Cindy! One home more beautiful than the next. That's so funny you got lost:) I'm sure it's not hard to do when being mesmerized by all the surrounding beauty! I can't believe you were able to resist the open house ~ Beau is small enough to carry inside, isn't he? Your dream WILL come true ~ you're doing exactly what "The Secret" says to do.

  21. Thank you Cindy for taking us all with you on your walk. The prices of homes in that area are out of this world ~ 3 million and no garage? Unbelievable!! Lovely, but still very highly priced.

  22. Hi Cindy,

Thanks for the tour of those gorgeous homes! I can just imagine what you would do with one of them if you ever were able to get your hands on one. How I would love to be able to decorate one for Christmas! Wouldn't that be fun?? I too love the little guest cottage; I'd be happy with that one!

  26. Hi Cindy

just catching up with your posts...I love the look of that house and I love going on walks like that, dreaming of beautiful houses, it seems this area you've shown is about as expensive as the one I live in and yes our cottage is in the 'inexpensive' bit!!

I just wonder who buys these places??

  29. Hi Cindy,
What a nice place to go for a walk but I think you should move to P.E.I.,you could get your dream home so much cheaper!I even know a good place for you to visit and have a cup of tea!

    Take care,
    Carolyn

  30. I love Los Gatos & would move there in a heartbeat! You should have held Beau & gone into the open house. Have you eaten at the Los Gatos Brewing Co? They're across the street from Williams Sonoma. Their food is so amazing!

  31. What a gorgeous place to take a walk! I've only been to California one time, many years ago. I know it's an expensive place to live. But to get to see the ocean and have that kind of weather. I'm sure if I had it I wouldn't want to trade it! Even if the houses are exorbitant!

  38. Oh my gosh.....house eye candy!! When I used to visit Los Gatos back in my 20's, I never appreciated the craftsman style homes that it had. Now, I can really appreciate the structure, gardens, fences, etc. that they have. I used to love going to the Charter House for mud pie - is this restaurant still there?

I have many memories of living in Campbell, most of all when a girlfriend and I were subletting an apartment in Campbell and we went to San Francisco for the day and met these Canadian boys and then they came back with us to Campbell and spent a few days with us......my future husband was one of those boys and we kept in touch for five years after our first meeting in San Francisco and are going on 21 years of marriage! Boy those were the days when you could do things like that and not be afraid that they could be an axe murderer or something!

Anyways, just want to let you know I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog and all the great ideas you have in store!

    Have a great Thanksgiving!

  40. Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful homes with us!! But wow- I can't believe the prices!! I need to post a few of the older homes around our area- There is a beautiful brick with gorgeous woodwork for $150,000- 2 1/2 story with sweet cottage like enclosed yard. It has been vacant so needs work but- gee for the price- -

  41. It was the perfect day here for a walk and the photos of the homes in Los Gatos are just beautiful! I must be in the minority on the palm tree though. I love it! I especially love that there is only one making it just a bit quirky. I don't know how you were able to resist the open house. I'd have had to go in. Did you stop at Icing on the Cake and get yourself and Beau a treat?

  42. Robin, I didn't go to icing on the cake but my friend, Lynn from high school owns that bakery!!!

  50. Oooooh, they are soooo beautiful. I love that blue house, with the white picket fence and vine-arched entry. That is the perfect looking house for me!

  51. Loved the tour. There's nothing I like better than going into open houses. I don't think there is one home listed in NH for 3 million! Our prices are a lot lower than yours are.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ummm - still choking to death over the 3 mil. price tag for that tiny home!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks for the tour! All of the houses are very beautiful! So expensive! There is a little town about 30 minutes from my town that has a lot of historical homes. I love to drive through there and take pictures. Next time, I'm gonna park and walk and dream! I know that I will be able to see more by walking. I will post pictures too. There is a blue and brick house that I know you will love. Its one of my favorites, even though I've never been fond of blue houses. Your blue things would look perfect in it. I think that your apartment is just darling! You are so talented!

My old hometown and I still love it. That yellow house on Santa Cruz Ave is still a beauty.
