Yesterday I went to Marshalls to buy a gift card for someone and I saw these gorgeous blue and white turkey plates! I was only going to buy 4 dinner plates and 4 salad plates and then I saw they were 50% off so I now have service for 8!
I got the dinner plates for $2 each and the salad plates for $1.50 each! What a deal! I bought one of these turkey candy dishes a couple weeks ago and I found another one yesterday and it was also 50% off...only $3.50 (click on the photos to see the turkey up close...he's so cute)

I remember a long time ago...I think in the early 80s, Martha Stewart used turkey candy dishes as soup bowls and I always wanted to copy that idea! I still need to find 2 more of these so I will be hitting every Marshalls and TJ Maxx store in Silicon Valley this weekend! If I don't find two more I'll just mix and match with some white soup bowls I already have. Here's a close-up of the turkey plates...
I'll be using my condiment holder for olives and such. I can't remember how much this was but I'm sure I spent less than $10 for it...I just saw one EXACTLY like it that sold on a website for $75.00!!! WOW...I love mine even more now!

Gorgeous place settings Cindy. What a find on those plates. And thanks so much on the Vintage and Vogue find. It's my new favorite place. The owners are so nice. I could spend a lot of time and money in a place like this!

Cindy that is so funny because I went to Marshalls yesterday also and saw the same plates,and of course I thought of you! I almost bought them but changed my mind, as it was I spent way more than I should have, $75.00 with a blink of an eye.

ReplyDeleteI have those exact ones in red and also in the multi-color. I collected them over the past few years at TJ Max & Marshall's. Now, I have a mix & match service for 24 (which good since I have 21 for dinner on T-giving!)
I also collected the turkey "soup/candy" servers in red, gold and green (I only have 12 so far)...I collected them at Williams Sonoma, Big Lots & Target. Now I'll have to rush over to Marshalls and TJ to see if I can find more! Thanks for the tip on that! I haven't used them for soup but what a great idea! I've used them for cranberry relish, dips, seasoned butters....
If I can collect at least 9 more then I can use them for soup! How great!

BTW....my Vince will be home from PhDLand....he will be frying one of the turkeys. He's very excited about his recipe this year....he hasn't divulged it to me! And, he's brewing beer while he's home so it's ready for Christmas.
He'll be home in a few hours (traveling through snowy mountains right now!)....I can't wait to see him!

I love those turkey plates!! Did they come in red?? :) Last month I found a same type of sale at our "Marshalls" type store here in Canada - it's called HomeSense. I found some red and white transferware Christmas plates.....see previous post on my blog. I paid $2.50 for the dinner plate and $1.50 for the salad plates. I bought enough for 12 place settings. Don't you just love these type of clearance stores!!

I love blue and white china and the border on the turkey plates looks similar to the border on my "Liberty Blue" china. I may have to find a TJ Maxx, even though I am planning to use my green and white china on Thanksgiving.

I use my blue and white dishes for most everything else but the holidays. However, your tablesetting is going to make me re-think that. I love the silver with the b&W and the lace on top of the placemat. I have never seen the b&w turkey plates.
