I know I can't please everyone but...

It was brought to my attention that at least one person felt mislead with all the hype I did about being on TV when I knew the show wasn't about me.  This wasn't my intent at all.  I assumed everyone knew something about the show and that I wasn't the main focus. I was just 1 of 3 "inspirations" for another couple that was getting the room makeover.  I understand now how this could have been misleading if you haven't been reading my blog since last spring when all this started.  I did mention it back then.  I sometimes get overly excited about things and this was one of those times.  To me, being on HGTV was HUGE even if I was only on for a small amount of  time!   I'm really sorry if I mislead anyone, it was not done intentionally...I just wanted to share my excitement with all of you.

  1. Cindy, don't let someones rude comments make you any less excited about this event. It was great and it was HUGE. Bask in the fun and enjoyment without letting someone else make you feel the need to apologize. I enjoyed every minute if it!

  2. Cindy, don't feel bad. I could tell that you were one of the inspirations by what you wrote. If I were going to be on one of those shows, I'd be so excited....I'd probably be getting it in every post and every conversation and have every one avoiding me like the plaque.

There are always some people who are negative...don't let it take away from your enjoyment and enthusiasm. Thank you for taking all of us along for the ride!

  4. Cindy, don't even think twice about that. I didn't get to watch it, however I will try to catch it at another time. I've never even seen that show before.Where have I been? Congratulations on being on the show!

  5. Hey Cindy, you have such a great big warm tender heart and I love you for that.

I was so excited to see the inspiration you provided and I was like sitting here saying (to hubby) that's my blog friend! It truly was such a JOY to see you and hubby enjoyed along with me.

As a matter of fact when I told him about you being on he said he'd even let me watch you over the debate that night as we already know who we're voting for. He's a keeper and so are you! And don't you forget it!

  6. Congratulations Cindy. I don't get that show in my area but I would love to see it. You are such an inspiration to so many of us. Please don't let the Negative Nellies take away any of your joy. There are so many out there wishing you well and enjoying your success. You Go Girl!!!

  7. Cindy, you don't need to apologize to anyone. If "someone" didn't do the "research" on this TV shooting, then that's their problem!! I thought it was absolutely wonderful!!!

"I know I can't please everyone, but I'VE GOT TO PLEASE MYSELF" is how the rest of the song goes LOL!!

You are wonderful, don't change a thing about how you blog!! Please don't let "some people" steal YOUR JOY *hugs to you*!!!!

    Blessings,

  8. Hmm... You know I have only been reading your blog for a short time, and had never seen this particular HGTV show before watching Thursday night (and I will definitely watch again).

I wonder if this person was actually speaking out of frustration and disappointment at not seeing MORE of your beautiful home on the show? I loved it, but have to admit I was just a teensie bit disappointed not to see more of your place!! But I did not feel like you had let me down, by any stretch. I would be OVER THE MOON to be featured on HGTV in any size, shape or fashion (in my dreams)!!

Do not let this person's comments bother you... I just think they were venting after being disappointed not to see MORE Cindy on the show!!

  9. Oh sweet Cindy, ANY bit of time on HGTV is WONDERFUL in my book and you of all folks totally deserved to be there!!!! I can only imagine how excited you've been and still are. Don't you worry at all about snarky comments ~ seems as though they might be having a few issues and taking it out on you ~ Wishing you a wonderful weekend!! xxoo, Dawn

  10. Cindy, don't waste a moment worrying about that comment...why does someone always feel the need to rain on someone else's parade??? I have watched RMS and know how it works. And anyone who has faithfully read your blog, as I have, knew what your portion was about.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Is there a full length episode online somewhere? I don't have cable so didn't get to watch you, but really want to! I checked the HGTV website and only found the slide show, which did feature your armoire!

Don't let anyone bother you. You have made it VERY clear in other posts that yours was an inspiration room, and this is indeed a wonderful accomplishment!

  12. Cindy, don't let it worry you, how many of us get to be on tv for even 2 seconds!! Plus, you don't have any control on how a tv show will edit your appearance. I don't know about anyone else, but if I read a blog I find interesting, I'll go back and read the past blogs to get more of a background, so I don't feel you were misleading anyone. It was fun to see you and your home in the spotlight, and by the way, you did a great job (I would have been a nervous wreck!!). Keep up the wonderful work you do on your blog, love your decorating style, love your photos, love reading about your treasure hunting, and one of these days I am going to try your banana cake recipe!! Take care.

  14. Cindy, That is so true....you can't please everyone.....I totally understand your excitement 30 seconds or 30 minutes WHO CARES.....YOU made it to TV and that calls for celebration!!. Unfortunately I am one of them that are not able to watch this show, but would have love too, even if it was for only a few minutes. Enjoy you weekend Dear!! Hugs, Jannet

  15. She must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed, or she is one of the people in the world that takes great pride in trying to rain on somebody's parade. I suspect it is the later. I do not think you misled us at all and you did a great job. She could have changed the channel - you did not force her to watch.

  16. I have to admit that I didn't really know the premise of the show either and didn't really know what to expect. I, too, would have loved an ENTIRE show with a tour of your home, but it certainly wasn't anything to become snippy about.
You did FABULOUSLY-be very proud, as 99.9% of us were.

  17. Hi Cindy! No need to apologize to anyone!!!! It was an exciting thing and would be for all of us! Love your vignette today! Ignore the comment and have a Happy Saturday/weekend! Don't let anyone burst your bubble!!!lol Sincerely, Jeannette

  19. Cindy, please do not allow anyone to steal your joy. You should be proud of yourself. There will always be negative people. I feel sorry for them as they are hurting themselves by being negative. You were very gracious to apologize on your blog - although there was no reason for you to feel you had to. That just shows us all you have a lot of character! You are blessed and are sharing your blessings with others! We appreciate you sharing your home and life with us all. Best wishes to you! Ivy

  20. Oh my goodness....it is a BIG DEAL that you were on TV and I can't believe the shallowness of someone's remarks. Ok I feel better now.

    Hugs,
    LeAnn:)

  21. Well, what can I say? Everyone else has already said what I might have said. Main thing was, if the format of RMS was not understood in the first place, then someone might think "what is all the hipe about?". Of course the rest of us knew that and we were overjoyed to see you anyway. Right?! So, keep your chin up. As someone said, 99.9% of us are proud of you. Keep up the good work. We love you.

    ReplyDelete
  22. What a gorgeous photo with your pretty chintz and linens. I wanted to tell you I tried your molasses cookie recipe and it was wonderful! I kept 10 for myself and took the rest to work, but they didn't last in either place.

I generally ignore negative people so I'm not even going to go read what this person said who made you feel you needed to apologize, just please know that you did nothing to mislead anyone.

    Have a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think being on HGTV, even if it were only for a nanosecond, is HUGE. You should NOT feel the need to apologize.
I'm so bummed that I missed your episode. I totally forgot!

Its a HUGE deal to be an inspiration room. I'm so happy for you.

    ReplyDelete
  24. As you said you can't please everyone.......

It's the control freaks that like to comment about things. I find that if you had to stop and explain everything in life, you'd be doing it allllll daaaaaay looooong.

It's nice you want to respond to them, but that's what they want and that's their control issues.

I've gotten rude remarks and I just choose to ignore them, but that's me.

    Have a great weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh brother. Don't pay any attention to that person. You are a star to us!!

  27. Cindy,
I watched the episode last night and you and your house looked great! How exciting to be featured on HGTV. It's like winning an award for inspirational design ideas. You're a winner!

    Cheers!

  28. Okay who do I need to beat up? The person (persons?) who complained have been on how many TV shows that didn't include the line "I was sitting in the can when I heard the tornado!"
Honestly, it makes me SO cranky. I would only be put on TV for getting pulled over in a speed trap. Not very many people have a house that they could let HGTV in so they should all HUSH. I know I would have a week of panic plus a few trips to the store before I would let them even com ein the lving room.
Hugs to you and let's get on with more FUN and ignore all the grumpies!

  29. Hi, I don't know you very well, I guess I'm more of a lurker. And I didn't get to see you on the show. Maybe when they do reruns? You made yourself very clear about your participation in the show. However, that's not even the point. You had every right to be extremely excited...wow...what an opportunity...and 99.9% of everyone was excited right along with you! No need for an apology to anyone. Remember the old saying "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all"? Someone forgot!
God bless and can't wait to catch you on the reruns!
    Brenda :)

  30. You shouldn't have to apologize for this Cindy! You had every right to be excited, I know I would be too. Besides, it's your blog and if they don't like it they can read someone else's.

  31. It's strange, to me, that anyone would be upset. You mentioned in one of your posts, that you were one of the people that was going to be on the show. Actually, they showed you more than I thought they would.

    I thought it was great!

  33. We're so fortunate in blogland that most of us are so supportive of each other and we build each other up and concentrate on the good things. It seems that when someone comes up with a negative, uncomplimentary comment it does tend to become bigger than it really is. In other words, ignore them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh my goodness, are you kidding me? Some people need to take a chill pill! ;)

You're an inspiration!

  37. Cindy, you didn't mislead anyone, dont let someone's sour grapes taint your wonderful experience. People who don't like what you have to write really should just move on. My mother taught me that if I didnt have something nice to say I should say nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh Cindy...don't let one person, or anyone at all, worry you. What did they care expect it gave them something to complain about. I bet they are good at it! : )

I enjoyed the segment immensely. Most of us knew exactly what to expect and heck. Even if I had not, I would have loved it anyway.

You be proud of yourself. It was fun and I am so proud of you!

  40. Wow, I can't believe anyone spoke negatively about it. That's awful! What a killjoy!

Bless your heart, don't you worry about a thing. Sure, many of us (including me, if I remember correctly) commented on how we wished we could have seen more of you and your home. But that had NOTHING to do with what you'd shared with us up until that point. For me personally, that had to do with the fact that I absolutely ADORE your home and could never get enough of it. Heck, I'll even go so far as to say that I think your home tops the other inspiration rooms and the makeover room by A LONG SHOT.

I too had never watched the show before but I never for a second thought you had misrepresented it. I guess maybe people just misunderstood? I don't know what they were thinking.

    BIG hugs to you, Cindy.

  42. Cindy, this is my first post even though I've been reading your blog for a long time. My husband and I both watched "your" show the other night. It was so cool to see you on HGTV. I was hoping to see more of your gorgeous home but I knew they only had time for so much in a half hour show. You were great and didn't seem nervous at all. How many other people can say they were on an HGTV show? Don't listen to any negative comments. Oh...do you have any strawberries left??

  47. Cindy,

You had 77 posts that were positive and 1 negative. I am begging you to not address the one negative poster with a post dedicated to her. It's like when you are a teacher and you spend all of your energy on that one child who is doing everything possible to disrupt the lesson and try with all your might to get them to stop -- instead of focusing on the 25 other students who have your attention wholeheartedly.

You inspire so many of us DAILY and I thank you for your dedication to this website. Absolutely everyone is entitled to their opinion but do not glorify, nor dignify negative comments with posted apologies.

  51. Be proud! You certainly did not mislead anyone who is familiar with the format of "Rate my Space" on T.V. With all the positive comments you received, you now know who your friends are. I think you should NOT have deleted the negative comment you received. I am sure, after reading all the comments that were positive, she is quite embarrassed, and if she dares to have her own blog she would have been inundated with enough negative comments of her own to deal with! She owes you and us an apology...

I have to say here that you are one great inspiration for me and I am sure many others who read your blog. When I look at your home I want to move in! You inspire me.
How about a laugh. My honey and I went to an auction today and he came home with a few things for himself and one big one for me. It's a dining table that I happened to mention seemed to have good bones, as I walked by it. Then I went home to get a few things done. Later he pulls in the driveway with the table on the truck and announces, "Here you go honey, you can paint it white. I got it for $1.00." Now this table is going to take some work but I already have some good ideas for it.

Don't apologize - you are such an inspiration - I wish it had been more about you!!
    Maybe someone's a little jealous??
Keep your creativity blooming, we love it!

  90. Oh, goodness! I can't believe that someone got their undies in a twist. I totally understood the show AND if it had been me I would have been crazy excited -- probably would have posted even more about it than you did! Sheesh! Don't apologize, it was awesome and you deserve it!!!
Oh yes, and that photo is so pretty! You have a gift.

  91. Oh good grief! Cindy, just ignore the joy-robbers! Some people have to find something negative. If that's the worst thing they could say - well - congratulations. Now that you're in the "public eye" you need to learn that there are sad people who get pleasure out of hurting happy folks. Please don't give them any of your attention. I wouldn't even honor their complaints with a comment. Like they say "Don't jump in the mud to wrestle a pig. Because you will get dirty, and it just gives the pig pleasure!"

  92. Why is it when we receive a million compliments and get one negative comment-it's the negative one we ALWAYS focus on!?
Don't even give them one more ounce of attention! You ROCK!!!!!!

  93. You have got to be kidding me!! I can't believe someone actually said something of that nature to you!!! I see you got 93 comments on this one. Geeze! I wouldn't even dignify it, but you are a sweet person. We all would've loved to see more of you - you're our girl!!! To be someone's inspiration - how cool is that! That green-eyes monster can be so exasperating sometimes!!

  94. Cindy,
Honestly, who are these people who take the time to say rude things? Phooey on them! YOU were on National TV because you were selected as someone who has talent AND who can inspire others! YOU ARE A STAR! So, act the part, girl! Drinking champagne in the middle of the week is an excellent start!
    Can't wait to watch it!!!

  95. Congrats! What a fabulous thing for you. Who cares what someone else thinks. They are jealous!
I would be so excited, that by the time I got done writting about it you all would have thought I had my own show!
Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame that will proably turn in to more fame.
    Congrats

  96. Cindy,
First, I want to tell you that I thought you did such a fabulous job-- I didn't think you came across as nervous at all. If the person complaining must never have seen the RMS show before! You are such a talented person, and you should really be proud of yourself. I think that this was such a big accomplishment, and HGTV recognized that you are a very gifted decorator. Also, thank you for the paint names for your armoire. I am definitely going to try to emulate the technique. Thank you for your nice comments too, I feel so glad to have met such a kind person in blogland!
    Thanks again,
    Meagan

  97. This just really pissed me off! I hate that some people feel that they have the right to rain on others parade... Don't let it bother you! We don't have enough times in our lives to get excited and when we do we need to dance , sing and laugh ! vickydarnell

  98. I check in to see your decor from time to time. I remember you explaining what your hgtv spot would be about quite awhile ago.

I did watch, expected you to be one of the inspiration rooms which you were. I don't know how anyone that read what you wrote could be misled.

It was a fun time!! The room was beautiful! I enjoyed it too.

  99. Well.... if that someone would PAY ATTENTION..... then they would have known..... I am so sure Angleo would come to YOUR home and redo a room.... duh.... your home is perfect..... anyone that has watched the show knew what to expect.... it was a wonderful outlet and I felt it high lighted your refinishing skills....

  103. I am so glad that you continue your blog even in the face of such frustrating comments.

I don't understand why people feel they have a right to be so blunt and rude. You did your part in explaining to us what part you had in the show, but I guess those who misunderstand have to find someplace to put the blame. How frustrating!

  104. And I second Indigo Robe's comment!

  105. Oh my, I would be just as excited as you - possibly more so. I totally understood you were one of the three selected as "inspiration" for the new room. I don't think you misled at all.

    Congratulations! Enjoy your moment. :)

  106. I could aplolgize for being so blunt but this is how I live my life...me and God....I don't understand why some bloggers feel the need 2 apologize to others. This world is full of people looking 2 be offended and you just can not please everybody. Don't apologize for not being perfect, no one is and never can be. Apologies should be left in supermarkets if you accidentally bump into someones cart going around a corner or you accidentally step on someones toes standing in line for that movie you've been waiting weeks to open and so on. The only person who owns our emotions are us and it is not our responsibility to make sure someone does not get offended or their feelings are hurt. There are lots of reasons to become upset over stuff we don't agree over but to apologize for being "you" changes who you are. Embrace each others individuality and opinions and move on not feed in to the energy. If you care more about what others think of you than what you think of you then they win! Stop trying to please everybody all the time...you can't. Your not responsible for the happiness and contentment of others. We choose to blog knowing it is not a success only journey and that's just what it is a journey far and wide meeting people along the way. I choose to be anonymous because it doesn't matter who I am, what matters is that I share this planet with you and I care about everybody and love everybody no matter what they say or believe. We are all God's children and the one we need to please is Him. Nothing happens to you, it happens for you and is God's plan and only He knows what that is.
Sure you could delete such comments or not let anonymous posters but that would be controlling too and filtering out the world with blinders on...they are out there and you can't shut everyone of them out.
I enjoy your blog very much and wish you peace hope and everlasting happiness blogging.
I'd like to close this out (finally huh?) saying even Jesus fell down with the weight of his cross and we all stumble but must get up and move on. So giddy-up

  107. Some people can be sooo ridiculous. It's not like you are a journalist that got something wrong. This is your BLOG, for goodness sake!! People need to get a life! Does it really matter enough where they have to come on here and say you "mislead" us??? Give me a break!

I was just so excited to see you on television! It's like I know a celebrity now. HA! ((((hugs))))

  108. Congrats...I don't think I would be able to stand up, let alone think, if I had a film crew on me. Some folks are destined for stardom and guess you got your foot in the door honey. Thanks for letting us in your life.
I used to think that I'd like to see my self or my style of decor on the tube or in a mag but don't think I'd live through it.
    rock on

  109. Hi Cindy
I don't know why people feel they have to express a criticism in their comments. It's just darnright mean. We all knew how excited you were and it didn't matter how much of the show featured you, it was exciting for all of us to see someone we all feel we know on TV.
I thought it was great and am glad that you let us all know about it. I would fell terrible if you hadn't told us until after it was over.
    Hugs, Rhondi

  110. Cindy, hi there!I am so excited to see that you are one of the inspirations for that beautiful room! Mel and Chip loved it and they must be your followers also, how would they know about your fab amoire. That Is big! I felt, oh they just mentioned Cindy, there it is! Their clothes amoire was WOW! I am sure they will get a much higher rating on their room with that in it now! Smile.

  111. you didnt mislead any of us, u were clear on why your were goingto be on the show, you have a right to have been so excited, it was a huge thing. : )

  112. you must be a very special person to have so many cheerleaders! So concentrate on all the posters that love what you are and what you do. And count me in as one of them.
The only disappointment I have from RMS would be I thought people like you would make over the low rated rooms. That would be such a better show.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Geez, people are so rude! They don't have to watch the show or, for that matter, read your blog...no one forced them to do either!

The show was great, but I think the homeowners could have used a little more inspiration from you. I think your place is much prettier than their makeover!

  114. Sheesh, don't let someone make you feel bad!! I think it's awesome that you were on tv!! I told my husband that I had to watch HGTV that night to see you. He asked how I knew you and snickered when I told him that I really didn't know you but felt like I did from reading your blog. :)

    Congrats on you big debut!

  115. Cindy, it was HUGE to me and I'm only a blog-fan. I DVR'ed it so I could watch your scenes over a couple of times. I'm constantly amazed by your ability to create such a warm and beautiful environment, and your beauty of spirit came through in the broadcast.

  116. Miss Cindy, don't be pulled down by some people who adheres to the 'crab mentality'. Meaning, whoever who is on top of them in terms of success and acclolades, they just want to pull down like a crab would do. One thing dominates their actions: ENVY OR JEALOUSY. Well, they're just miserable people. You're great and we are happy for you!
