Autumn Mantel - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I'm back!

It's been over 3 months since my ex-husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and moved in with my daughter and I.  Over 3 months is good...one doctor told him he only had about 6 weeks to live. The other doctors said it's hard to say but at this point, it's weeks-months.  We are taking it one day at a time.  He's doing okay now but he's been in the hospital 3 times since the first time he was there and diagnosed.

Because of all this going on in my life I haven't felt much like decorating or blogging but somehow with the change of seasons I'm now feeling like doing both!  A couple weeks ago I decorated my mantel for Autumn although it still felt like summer when I did it but FINALLY Autumn has arrived in Northern California! We've even had rain!  The last two Mondays we've woken up to rain! Rainy days and Mondays are good when you are in the middle of a horrible drought!

It's finally cool enough to turn on my gas fireplace! I've been waiting for this for awhile!

Do you see something green in the mirror below? Haha...yes I also have a Christmas tree up! My daughter and I decorated that Monday evening....more to come on that next week!

Thanks to all of you they came back to visit after I've been gone so long!  I've thought about shutting down my blog but after over 10 years of blogging it's hard to let go!

Come back next week to see a little early Christmas! My ex-husband loved that we put up the tree early...he sat in the living room while Lauren I put on Christmas music and decorated the tree.  It was bittersweet!

If you are joining in on Show and Tell Friday, please remember that your Show and Tell needs to be something from your home or garden. 19. You have been missed. I have been following you since I saw an article about you in the San Jose Mercury several years ago. Love your decorating style.

Hang in there. I know these months will be tough. We lost my mom to this disease ten years ago. By the way, PANCAN is a great resource.

  20. Glad to see you back. Love your Fall mantel - so pretty.
You have had a lot to deal with the last several months and can understand your taking a break. Hope you and your daughter are taking care of
yourselves, as it can be very hard on caregivers in situations like this. ((hugs)) to you and your daughter.
If you enjoy blogging, don't give it up, just take a break when you feel it is needed. I have not had much to share in some time, but appreciate your hosting "Show and Tell" each week. Thanks for what you do.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  22. Welcome back, dear one! I cannot even imagine what you are going through - please know that you are very special to be doing this, and your daughter is learning much from you about the definition of "love one another as you love yourself." I am sending up prayers for you three!

I think your mantle looks wonderful - and I am so happy you started your Christmas decorating early - and can imagine it meant a great deal to your ex.

    God bless you. ♥

PS Thanks for hosting the party!

  29. Glad to see you are back. I have been following your blog for a few years and I am
so glad you are back. Prayers for strength thru this time with your ex husband.

God is good. Only he knows the time. Enjoy every moment and live today as if it was your last...to the fullest for none of us know when our time will come.

My husband was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in May but by the grace of god it was
contained and the surgery was a success. Those days of waiting for final results were draining to us all. Keeping you all in prayer.
