The Painted Mirror - Show and Tell Friday

Pin It Now!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  About a week ago I painted the mirror over my fireplace.

I used some white paint I already had on hand and then used some Rub 'n Buff in turquoise to highlight the design.  The turquoise was a little too bright so I went over it with some white Rub 'n Buff to lighten it up.  It made a big difference!  I thought I remembered getting a French Blue color in Rub 'n Buff years ago but I couldn't find it.  I may have been mistaken though....my memory is not that great lately!

Above is a close up.  I just put the Rub 'n Buff on my fingertip and rubbed it over the areas I wanted blue.  Then I had to deal with blue fingers but a little fingernail polish remover took care of that.  Actually a lot of fingernail polish remover and a lot of rubbing!

I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Below is the before photo. It was a pretty mirror before but it just didn't go with my décor.  I've had this mirror for years. It was in my daughter's room at our old townhouse apartment and it's been in a closet for the past year!

I love projects that don't cost anything! A new mirror and it was basically free!

The mirror turned out great Cindy - love the blue in the relief !
My memory is going on me too - sometimes go into a room to get something and forget why I went into the room - scary stuff !
Thanks so much for the party - hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Love the mirror. So much lighter and prettier in white. I must try rub and buf. Never used it before. Where did you find it?
