Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! I lived with the mirror in my dining room for a week and I just felt it needed something. I'm just not a simple girl...I need stuff! I added some hand-painted rose plates last weekend and now I like it better!
I've had these plates awhile and they are some of my favorites! I actually bought the four small plates together and then found the larger one on eBay much later. That was luck!
These photos don't even do them justice...they are absolutely gorgeous!
I'm usually really good at laying out the plates and hanging them but I think these look a little too bunched up to me. I think I need to spread them out a little more. Luckily the guy in the leasing office said they have touch-up paint if I need it. ....I think I may need it!
I think I just need to have plates on the wall to make it feel like my home! Mirrors and plates...that's just my style!
Thanks to all of you that join in on Show and
Tell Friday every week and thanks to all of you who leave such nice
comments!

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! What beautiful plates. Could you raise the little platter a tiny bit higher and just hang two plates on each side of it? Just a thought - I know nothing! ;) Thank you for always hosting your party and I'm loving seeing what you're doing in your new place.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

ReplyDeleteI love plates on my wall too. My grandmother had a plate for each of the 50 states on her kitchen walls, and I think I got the whole plate on a wall thing from her. I love to switch them up too. Your plates are beautiful, the colors are so soft and romantic. thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteLove the plates; it really adds flair!

ReplyDeleteHi, Cindy: The plates really bring a romantic feeling to the dining area. For what's it worth, I would leave the plates just like they are and add a larger set of (2) plates-larger, one on each end, extending out a couple inches past the mirror frame. This would give you the opportunity of bringing in perhaps several more soft colors and, givie more siginifance to the entire wall display. Romantic sconces either side would also bring weight and attention to the area...great opportunity to use candles or tealight. Placed in the middle between the ceiling line and top of mirror frame, you could add small tidbit size plates top and bottom of sconces ouside the ends of the mirror, but over the top of the mirror frame to again give more weight and significance to wall. The view from the kitchen is wonderful...large leafed potted plants on the balcony would certainly make you feel like you were living in Hawaii..I'm jealous! I'm afraid I'd have to put up sheers for nighttimeTV watching... I HAVE to be in my jammies accompanied by a glass of Merlot...lol. You made a great choice with this place! Congrats! Note: Go to Betsy Spreet's Blog...WOW She is interior designer (retired) extroidaire! You might grab some great ideas for your new place. You can spend hours on her blog...take care. Nonni

ReplyDeleteDon't forget about earthquakes. They have special hooks in the hardware store so a mild tremblor won't knock them off the wall. You'll be glad you did, and you sure don't want plates or a mirror flying at your head. So pretty!
ReplyDeletePretty plates! Thanks for hosting, Cindy! Have a lovely weekend!
