Moved in my new place and on a nationally syndicated radio show all in one week! - Show and Tell Friday!

Some of my pretties waiting to be washed and displayed!

I'm not sure what I was thinking but last week I really thought I would be able to show you so much more than I actually can! I'm all moved in my new apartment but it's still chaos here! It's not photo-worthy yet!  When I've moved in the past I've stayed up all night unpacking boxes because I become obsessed with getting everything looking good!  The fact is that I am now 53 years old (although I don't feel it) and things are a little different now. Staying up until 1:00 am unpacking boxes is about all I can do on a work night now! My body just seems to stop and that's all I can do!

I started moving last Friday and here in California we've been in a severe drought but as fate would have it, the weekend I picked to move the forecast was for severe weather with lots of rain.  I had asked my ex-husband if he could come over on Friday with his truck to help us get a jump start on the move.  I had reserved a big 17 foot U-Haul truck for Saturday but after the weather report I decided that his pick-up truck wasn't going to work so I reserved a cargo van for Friday.  Again, as fate would have it and I put out extra money for the van it didn't rain!  We did three runs with the cargo van and one load in the pick-up truck.  We were happy that we were able to move our beds and sleep in the new place Friday night.

Saturday was supposed to be the worst of the storm! We hired two guys from in front of Home Depot to help us move. I was prepared to keep them dry and happy so I bought four rain ponchos.  Luckily we didn't even need them!  The storm went North of us and it barely even sprinkled at all! After we packed up the truck, my daughter and I took the two workers to lunch and then headed to the new apartment!

I cleaned out my old place on Monday and moved that last few things that were in my back storage closet on Tuesday after work. I'm exhausted but it's done!  Now it's Wednesday evening and almost everything is unpacked but there is still things everywhere as you can see in the photo above! Luckily it's a 3-day weekend and it will be all done and looking good this weekend!  Next week I should have more to share!

This has been an exciting week not just because of the move but because I was asked to be on a nationally syndicated radio show called "Real Estate Today" to share how to decorate your home romantically for Valentine's Day!   Click here to listen to it!  I was so nervous doing it but I always think it's a good thing to go outside your comfort zone rather than pass up amazing opportunities.  I was very honored to be on their show! Please ignore how many times I say "um"...I was so nervous!

Also in case you missed it I have two previous posts where you have a chance to win  $1,000 gift cards!  Scroll down for a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card by reading my Sauve Moraccan Infusion post for a chance to win a $1,000 Visa Gift card and also my Target Cartwheel app post for a chance to win a $1,000 Target Gift Card.  I love giving you all a chance to win these great prizes so I hope you leave a comment on each of them for a chance to win!

Happy Valentine's Day Friends! I'll leave you with an old Valentines photo from the old My Romantic Home!

  38. Good Luck in your new Home :)
Did you take any photographs of your old apartment without all the furniture? It would be interesting to see it to see just how much you had changed it with your furniture and interior design.
I hope you, your daughter and little 'puppers' weren't too sad and that you settle into your new place and are happy there for a long time :) xx
