Welcome to Show and Tell Friday! This year I tried to save money since I'm unemployed and use my fake skinny Christmas tree that I usually put in my dining room instead of buying a real tree. You may remember that this is the tree that I hung with blue and white china in previous years. Remember this?...
Christmas 2009 |
Well, it made a much nicer tree in my dining room than it does for my main tree. I learned my lesson, I won't be using this as my main tree ever again. I even thought about taking it all down and going out and buying a real tree but I reminded myself that I'm unemployed and I need to hang on to my money!
UPDATE: So sorry I the inlinkz wasn't working early. I did my post early today and set it up to post at 6:00pm. I wasn't home to see that it didn't work!!!
So, I'm sharing my almost-Charlie Brown Christmas Tree this week and my little dog Beau...

We wish you all a Merry Christmas!

I think your tree looks beautiful, thanks for hosting. I'll be back to link up when the link is posted.
I think it's pretty, Cindy...no Charlie Brown there! I have gotten so I just put up 2 or 3 little ones each year. It's easy and I can change the theme without a lot of expense. Your little Beau is a cutie! Merry Christmas!...hugs...Debbie
I have been collecting 2 ornaments at a time every year -- can't wait until my tree is full of gorgeous ornaments and such like yours! =) xoxo
all are so beautiful! Merry Christmas!
all are so beautiful! Merry Christmas!
Hello, Cindy!
I so often come and just visit and Oooo and Aaaah at the beautiful things that you show us and just soak it all in. I 'laugh and cry' with you and I'm always cheering you on.....er, I just don't always tell you so. It's such a relief to just come to a blog and silently enjoy and be refreshed.=]
However, I DO want to stop, today, to say that your home is just beautiful - BEAUTIFULLY decorated for the holidays (skinny tree and all;)) and I want to wish you a peaceful and happy Christmas!
With very best wishes!

Cindy, I think your tree is beautiful - like everything else you do!
Merry Christmas to you. I pray that you find the perfect job in 2012.
I was wondering how the job hunting was going. Obviously not so good. I hope you get one soon.
I absolutely love the idea of hanging vintage China on the tree. I've never seen it before and now I will be collecting same to hopefully try it next year.
We are in the same boat of cutting our cloth accordingly. It will be a minimal Christmas here at the Beach House. And if people aren't happy with that well too bad. Here's to focusing in the things that really count.
Merry Christmas to you and I wish you every succuess in 2012!!!
Carolyn xx
What a beautiful tree -- I LOVE Christmas!

Here's hoping you find a great new job very soon.

I love the skinny tree and Beau is adorable!
It's not the size of the tree that matters its the love that you adorn it with. I hope that you find a new job soon. It's terrible you were let go before Christmas. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday. Your tree is beautiful.

Well, I think your tree is very pretty. I do understand kind of how you feel, though. My children and I are not having a Christmas this year. We don't even have a tree. All we really wanted for Christmas this year is getting caught up with bills and paying off other bills, which will FINALLY become a reality next week... just in time for the New Year.
You're still my inspiration, Cindy, in doing for myself as you have done for you. I see great things coming your way. All this gloom & doom talk about 2012...? I say, "Pfft!" It's gonna be one heck of a great year... for BOTH of US!
Merry Christmas, Cindy, and may you have a glorious New Year!
Georgia
I switched to a skinny tree in my livingroom last year and I LOVE it. It is samll room and the narrow tree doesn't overwhelm it the way the other one did. I admit, you do have to do some editing and re-think the ornaments. I made up for it with three other shorter trees in other rooms. It all just fits my house so much better.
Hi Cindy! Oh, your little tree looks precious! I think it fits perfectly where you've set it and you have some lovely decorations too! Merry Christmas and I hope you find your dream job soon!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I like the skinny little fella - and the chubby little puppy!
Kelly
Merry Christmas Cindy, thanks for hosting.
I think the tree looks great! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
Oh wow, I love your tree decorated both ways--I can't even believe the tree with the china--it's unbelievable! I'm going to pin these on Pinterest! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas
thanks for the linky parties all year
Good Morning Cindy!
I was 5th born in a family of 9 children. My mother didn't work and my Father was an alcoholic. Needless to say, the only Christmases that we had as children were supplied by the local "Goodfellows"--TRUE Santas indeed!! By chance, one year, my sister and I happened upon a house that had trimmed branches off their REAL Christmas tree and discared them at the street. I picked up the largest one and we carried it home with us where we put it in an old Mason Jar and decorated it with handmade paper chains and ornaments. That is the ONLY memory I have of a childhood Christmas.
There is something to be said about the most humbling offerings at Christmas--in my opinion that is what Jesus' birth was all about. A child that no one had room for becoming the most wonderful Christmas gift of all!
Perhaps this will be one of the most wonderful Christmases of your life because it is not the size tree or the number of gifts under it that matters. At least, THAT is my wish for you this Christmas.
God has a plan for your life and 2012 just may be YOUR year! God Bless You and yours AND Merry Christmas!
Jacque, that was so touching! I'm glad you were able to make your own Christmas memories as a child! It's so much more about what is in your heart more than anything!! Thank you for sharing your story! Merry Christmas!
...and Merry Christmas to all of you!! I <3 you all!
Your tree is pretty! But you did bring back memories for me, 30 years ago I remember my first tree, I wil l never forget , I called it my charlie brown tree LOL! Thanks for sharing I enjoy this blog God bless! Merry christmas!
I think your tree is lovely. We usually do two trees but only did one this year. Christmas was a little different - we celebrated Tuesday! That is a tradition I do not plan to keep. God Bless and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for hosting! I included some last minute DIY gift ideas for those who want to stay out of the shops...and some printable gift tags / canning labels.
Have a very happy holiday,

I love the blue and white china! My mom used to have the Blue Willow plates and I've just collected my first piece of transfer-ware. I'm envious of your beautiful collection!
Your tree looks so full and festive. I personally love the tall slim tree. I got tired of moving a bunch of furniture around each Christmas to accomadate a big tree. Happy Holidays to you!
I think your slim tree is perfect. Easy on the eye,as it travels from bottom to top, don't you think? xx Merry Christmas jeanetteann
I think your tree is gorgeous, like everything you touch!
Little Beau looks sweet as can be and ready for a visit from Santa, HO HO HO! I'll bet he's happy to have you home so much.
Merry Christmas!!!!
Beau is adorable. He matches your pretty spikes of red and turquoise in, what I think, is a really NICE tree, Cindy! I'm not just saying that to be perky...I really like it; it has all your lovely things on it, so it's special!
Cindy, we're having a very pared-down Christmas holiday, too...not to mention the fact that I caught a bug and am only keyboarding to try to stem the nausea waves. My husband hasn't had a raise in five years and we're trying to keep my disabled, aged mom in her home, which is her wish, but she's running out of money due to the cost of her 24/7 home caregivers, so we had to reverse mortgage but it's pennies compared to what home values were a few years ago. So, I, in my own way, am also trying to buck myself up for a new year that starts out with problems (oh, and did I mention I also have to have surgery in January). The family dynamic has changed with the loss of my dad and brother, so it's hard to tap into the "sunny" because nothing is the same. But it's the glass half full/half empty scenario. I'm thinking the first quarter of the year will suck, but then it will get better, somehow! I'll probably feel better after my operation, at least Mom has money for a year...and you'll get a job! And maybe that's what Christmas is all about anyway...HOPE, for all of us! I second what someone else said here about you, I've come to admire you through your blog, and I wish you all the best!
That story from Jacque I've just gone back and read in the comments. It made me cry. To think of children with no Christmas...when Christmas is for kids...makes me re-focus, real-quick. It's one thing to have adult problems, but they should never be imposed on little ones. Anyway, I suddenly feel calmer. My dad would be reminding me to count my blessings. So, I'm going to go do that, right now. When I look at things as problems and complications, my level-headed husband says, "they're just THINGS." Life and its cycles. THINGS. We get through them. "This too shall pass." In the meantime, don't lose the moment. Hug Beau...he looks squeezable (you know how THAT goes, when you luv 'em so much you almost squash 'em with hug after hug, and they're just trying to come up for air!).
Happy Christmas to you all from roman blinds-drawthecurtans
Just popping in to wish you a Happy New Years :) Love your blog!
