Mom, you'll be forever in my heart!!!

I've been trying to write this post for days and could not bring myself to do it.

The pain is still too great.

My wonderful mom passed away last week.  If you've been reading my blog awhile you probably have seen that so much of my style and love of vintage things has come from my mom.  I really would love to tell you more about how wonderful she was but I'm not ready to just yet...the pain is so strong. It's times like these that I'm glad my father has taught me to see the postive in things. I'm thankful that my mom had a 86 years here, that she and my dad had 65 years being married and that she knew she was loved and that she didn't have to suffer too much at the end!

  31. Dear Cindy: My heart goes out to you over the death of your Mom. So happy you had her so many years of your life.

I lost my Mom in 2006 and the pain was very deep. Even today, five years later, I see her picture and feel so sad. However, I do believe the spirits of our parents live on, within us---in our laughter, in our dreams, in our hopes, and in our joys. She will always be with you, Cindy. You, after all, are her best legacy!

And one day, it is my own belief, that we will all meet again in another realm of life. Warmly, Susan

  34. Dear Cindy...I just found your wonderful blog and am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom 15 years ago and still think of her everyday. Take your time and grieve however you feel you need to. The pain will become more bareable and the tears will eventually be less often and the sweet smile as you remember her will become more frequent. My thoughts and prayers are with you...your deep grief is a sign of a deep love and wonderful relationship..that is a gift that not everyone has. I am grateful for having one and know the memory of the one you shared with your mother will never die and lives forever. peace.

  41. Oh Cindy,
I am so sorry. You are blessed to have had her as an inspiration. What a joy to share so many years with your father.
I understand how you feel. My mother died several years back - the day after Mother's day. We lived about 4 hours away - on Mother's day my husband surprised me to say we were going to spend the day with mom. I was so happy - I cried - when we drove up there were my two brothers and two sisters - we all hugged - cried and went inside to spend a lovely day with mom. She had been bed ridden from cancer - I shared things with her I'd wanted to for a while - it was a beautiful day - I say it was a gift from God - since I wasn't able to get back in time the next day. Mothers are the most precious gift given to us -
You are in my heart and in my prayers -
    God Bless,
    Kathy

  71. Oh, Cindy,

I hear you, girl. My 89 year old mom is declining so quickly and I treasure every moment with her. I lost my dad three years ago and while the pain is less sharp, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him and miss him. Take care of yourself. Just take it one day at a time and the pain will ease ever so slowly as time goes by. Watch for signs that she's okay and in a better place. That may sound nutty but others told me that and it really happened for me. Hugs to you, my friend.....

  109. Oh dear, Cindy, this post took my breath away! I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts are with you and your family.

Do not be surprised if the pain goes on a long time and do not let anyone try to tell you when you should be "over it," as we never get over the loss of a beloved one! We just learn to deal with it over time, and I can tell you that it does get better. I suddenly lost a dear friend 3 years ago who was like a father to me, and I just recently found I could talk about him without bursting into tears. It seems like he was just here yesterday, but it also seems like he's been gone forever. My heart still aches, but I remember his goofy laugh and his hilarious sense of humor, and it makes me smile. I am just grateful he was in my life.

My sincerest condolences to you at this sad and difficult time.

  141. Cindy, I am sending my condolences along with a hug. Keep your chin up and time will be a gift. Take time to just reflect, it's beautiful to have those memories, they will never fade.
When I lost my my mom I felt as if I lost my best friend too. You'll make it though and she would be proud for the sweet thoughts you share about her...

  142. Cindy,
My heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your dear mother. May you and your family be blessed with many loving, happy memories. And some day, when your heart is ready, it would be an honor if you would be able to share your memories of your mother with us. I think you would find it to be a loving, healing process, but only when you are ready.

I am 59 and lost my mom 34 years ago, it was one of the hardest things to go through, but I think of her every day.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, take care.

  143. Cindy, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. (My mom passed away in 2003, at age 83). There is nothing like the loss of a mom; it is SO very difficult--even moreso, when you are close, as you were. May your memories--and the love and support of those around you--help you through this sad time. Take care of yourself and take the time you need to grieve; and know that there are many of us out here in cyberspace who care and are thinking of you. We are always here,

  165. I am so sorry for your loss. My mom is 85 and I know how precious those last days must have been to you. You know I heard someone say the other day as a response to hearing about a loss. It's temporary, you'll see your mom again. Grief is something that there are no shortcuts getting through. But when the pain is gone, you will be left with all the beautiful memories you made together and you will see her again someday.
