I'm just amazed at how generous some of my readers are! I received an email awhile back from Lorrie saying she would like to send me something. Well, on Christmas Eve a huge package arrived on my doorstep. When I opened it up I could not believe all the things inside... Really beautiful things! Hand-painted dishes, 4 depression glass sherbet dishes, sterling silver serving spoons, beautiful paper napkins, an amazing ceramic iris, and loads of vintage linens!
Tablecloths, napkins, hankies, runners, doilies, pillowcase...you name it, it was in there! All this new linen inspired me to organize mine a little better so I've been gathering mine up...it was stashed in almost every closet and drawer in my apartment. I spend most of New Years day ironing and I'm not finished but here is what I have so far...
I now have my tableclothes, runners, and napkins stored on the bottom shelf of my blue armoire and every time I walk by, it makes me smile! Have I mentioned that I love vintage linens?

Your post reminds me to pull out my vintage linens that have been stored for the last 4 years and get them ironed and displayed somewhere. I have lots of 50's tablecloths with great graphics. I'm layed up for a couple of weeks with a bum foot so maybe ironing will keep me occupied (when I'm not on the computer browsing blogs).

ReplyDeleteWOW! what a lucky girl you are. All of the gifts are lovely. I have quite a few old linens that I bought on e-bay that I want to make pillows out of. Just need to get the time to do it. Want to finish working on my redecorating first. Sooooo much to do, so little time!!!

Wow! those are some gorgeous gifts. Sometimes we see things that remind us of others and what better way to share! The cutwork napkins remind me of all the ones that belonged to my great grandmother that I have packed away....you've given me some inspiration to get them out and put on display! The ironing part...not so much fun!

Oh wow Cindy that is AWESOME! Tickled pink for you. I had something like this happen to me a few years back and I STILL treasure my items! I absolutely LOVE the Colonial Couple Crooksville dishes and a lady sent me the best tea cup and saucer set ever. She said they were her Grandma Rose's and it just seemed fitting that I have them since my name was also Rose. I just adore that set!!! I can tell it from the others I have in that set because hers must have been older or something because it makes a different sound when you sit the cup into the saucer. Folks laugh at me when I show them because I dearly love it! Anyway just so happy FOR YOU!!!! Your linens look awesome ironed!!!!!

ReplyDeleteWow.... you are so blessed... that is awesome stuff. I especially love the silver spoons. I polished my silver tea service on sunday and thought of you when I was doing it. It was SO tarnished because it was "landlocked" next to the old entertainment center (which left on Saturday by way of Freecycle!).
