Take one $3 Silver Dish...

Pin It Now!

I stopped into my neighborhood thrift store last weekend and I found this silver dish for $2.99 and when I got to the register I found out everything was 30% off so it was a steal!  I knew it would be such a versatile piece to decorate with.  In the summer it will look stunning holding shells.
My camilla's are blooming so I floated them in water and added some small floating candles.  I think that's a very romantic look and would be wonderful as as centerpiece on my dining room table for Valentine's Day!  Hmmm...I need to find a Mr. Romantic first!!!
Then I added a mercury glass candle that I bought at Home Goods in the center and surrounded it with Christmas balls and a glittery starfish.  Very festive!

So, which is your favorite?

Not one but three inspirational ideas! I love #3 the most but probably because of the time of year. Great buy!!! I found a beautiful silver spoon that holds tea leaves this weekend. I bought it and thought that this is something you would buy and show it off so nicely....I'm clueless! Mary

Janet said...

I like #three also, but like Mary it may be because of the season.

Happiest of Holidays to you and your kids; hope you enjoy every minute of it.

I loved the 2nd one, romantic with the flowers and candles!! I'm just a sucker for beautiful flowers.

After visiting this blog many times during the last few months, I am convinced Cindy, that you could take a red plastic box from the dollar store and make it look absolutely gorgeous. You certainly have a way of adding beauty to everything that you do. I love visiting your blog.

It's amazing what you can do with one little silver bowl! I probably would have passed right by it! All three designs are beautiful. I have enjoyed looking at your wonderful home this holiday season.

Lisa said...

I second what Judy said! You have quite a flair for transforming any old thing into a beautiful vignette. I loved all three of your ideas for the silver piece, but as it is the season, #3 appeals the most today.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

I agree! You have an eye for all things beautiful. It is so difficult for me to decide, but I'll go with #3, again because of the season (and that mercury glass candle). You have once again inspired me to keep an eye out for a lonely little dish needing a home. I keep wondering if your visitors are so used to the beauty of your home that they don't notice small changes, or would they be like me and look forward to each visit, not only for the host's company, but to see what has changed or been added. You have a gift, Cindy. Happiest of Holidays to you and yours.

Cindy,
Mmmmm! It's hard to decide. I think I like #3 the best, 'cause I love mercury glass. But,....shells and flowers...mmmm. Oh heck, I like all three.
I started working on my mosaic last night and I have all the pictures uploaded but that is as far as I got. Thought I ought to start early as I am still a novice at these things. It was so much fun going through all of my pictures, Say a little prayer that I get it all done. Then we will know that miracles really do happen.
Best Wishes for a great holiday!

Good morning Cindy :)

I love all three of them, but if I absolutely HAD to choose, it would be #2, because I'm a romantic ;)

I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Maybe this is the year you'll find him? ;)

Big hugs,
rue

That turned out very beautiful. I just love thrift stores & I have several antique stores around that have thrift store prices. Can't wait till Christmas shopping is over so I can get out to them.

I like all three, but the third way is my favorite! You are right! It's very festive! And you cannot beat the price!

Terri Steffes said...

I love the flowers and floating candle! Maybe I am ready for Valentine's day?!?

LRae said...

Cindy,
I love them all! Did you add the glitter to your starfish or buy it all glittered up? Also, which is your favorite thrift store?

Brenda Pruitt said...

I guess if I had to choose, it would be the last one. But I ALWAYS love your vignettes with seashells too!
Brenda

Cindy said...

LRae: A fellow blogger gave me the glittered shell. She did it herself. I would say my favorite thrift store is Savers in Milpitas(I'm not sure if you live in this area?) but I also like almost any Goodwill. I also like the Salvation Army on Winchester Ave.

Anonymous said...

I like #3 because I love the mercury glass candle. Since my favorite color is pink, this would look stunning with pink and silver ornaments, or may pink and red silk roses?

Thanks for all the inspiration you provide.

All three are great. But I would have to choose number 1. I love seashells. So, I have to go with that one. Although I do love mercury glass....Hmmmm Cindy I think it's to difficult to pick just one.

I'm a romantic too so I would say # 2. The shells do look lovely for this summer and the bulbs for winter. One for each season. Merry Christmas. Love the wrapped blue pretty present in the background.

I am all about mixing my sea shells with my pine cones and Christmas decor. I love #3.

I recently had a good day at a thrift store too when I found a beautiful box of ornaments that had never been opened. There were fifteen ornaments in the box, with one broken. I still thought it was a good deal to get the 14 ornaments for $4.
I had also picked up a hanging cherub planter for $2 and a gold picture frame for $2. When I got to the register, the cashier said, "oh, one of the ornaments are broken. Let me adjust the price for you". My total was $4. A good day!

Thank you for taking the time to still post for those of us that have finished shopping, with everything wrapped and under the tree, just aking a break from last minute baking and waiting for the big day to get here, to just get on here and see you have something pretty for us to see!

Hope you and your family have a very wonderful Christmas and get the new year off to a wonderful start as well.

Lucky you! What a great find. It's a very pretty dish.
I would love to meet you in person and hug you and tell you what an incredible impact you have had on my decorating. When we moved this August I was a little lost as to what to do. I knew I had to lighten up this dark house and all I knew for sure was that I would be painting my furniture white. Then you posted that great tutorial and off I went. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family. Stop by for a visit and to take a look at my Christmas House Tour.

Love the silver tray and all 3 ideas are lovely, but I have caught the mercury glass craze and love #3 with the candle holder, silver ornaments and glitter star fish. Found similar mercury glass votives at Hobby Lobby and Tues. Morning that have a "diamond-like" jewel on the outside of the votive. Added an aqua candle, it is so pretty when the aqua color peeks through the glass when the candle is burning.

You always find such great deals - and you are always so inspirational. I'm waiting for the day when you hook up with a publisher who will publish a coffee table book of your photos because I could sit and look at your photos all day! And when I say your ideas are inspirational - I went out and tracked down "fake snow" - finally found some at Hobby Lobby - so I could add it to a hurricane candle holder that I had Christmas ornaments in...because your glass beverage container with the silver Christmas ornaments and "snow" that you featured in earlier Dec. was so gorgeous. I could go on and on.

Cindy, thank you for being so generous in sharing your treasures and ideas and yourself. Merry Christmas and many blessings for a joyous New Year to you and your family.
