I just had to share how the cabinet looks so far. I'm still waiting for the furniture appliques to arrive. There will be a rose swag at the top and a wreath applique on the bottom of each door.
I need to get a piece of glass for the middle shelf but luckily my large silver tray fits in there for now. I put my dried hydrangeas in the picnic basket I painted awhile back and I like the way they look on top of the cabinet.
As you can see, I cannot possibly fit another piece of furniture in this little apartment. I'm sure I must hold the record for the most furniture in this place since it was built in 1969!!!
Someone left me a comment yesterday with a link to a craigslist ad of somebody selling this same cabinet and theirs was also painted white! They were asking $250 so I think I got a great deal for $50!!!
One more thing...some of you said you can't see my new blue background. If you are one of them can you let me know what Internet browser you are using (Netscape, FireFox, etc.). I'm just curious if it's because of a specific browser. Thanks!
am using Firefox and love your newish cupboard!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I am in AWE of your new cabinet, AND your space! I just want to go sit with a cup of tea and soak it all in!
ReplyDeleteYour new Blog design is beautiful as well. So soft and elegant.
Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cabinet
Beautiful things inside of cabinet
Beautiful basket of flowers on top of cabinet.
Beautiful apartment. I say if you can fill every square in with beauty then do so.
Becky
LOVE it!!! Everything in it looks perfect! Thought you were going to put it in the corner in your bedroom?
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I thought I was in the wrong place when I first clicked on your blog! LOL! I have to say I was very fond of your old blog layout/look (easy to read & very visually appealing to me) so it will take a little time for this "old dog" to adjust to this "new trick." :D The blue & white damask-looking border is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe hutch is just as beautiful as I imagined it would be after your magic touch. And I completely understand what you mean about fitting an abundance of furniture in a small space. I have the same problem--so much so that I've had to stop looking at furniture on Craigslist because it makes me really sad when I see inexpensive pieces that would look great with a makeover but yet I know I don't have room for one more thing.
Cindy ~
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet came out beautifully.

Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteYour cabinet looks fabulous. As I stated earlier, you got a great deal.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
Oh Cindy, you have made this into a treasure! I can't believe how beautiful it is now. The appliques will only make it more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, once again! What did you do with the piece that was there though? Was that your birdcage table???
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great.
But, since you didn't put this in your bedroom I think you still have room for at least one more piece! LOL
Hugs,
Joanne
Oh my goodness its so pretty! I wish I could tour your apartment! I have gotten myself in trouble with too much furniture from Craigs List and then making time to finish up the projects...I know that once they are done I'll have some great pieces. Can't wait to see your next project!
ReplyDeleteOh so fancy! Love it, you have done a great job as usual. Stop by my blog to see my very first painted project (about 3 posts down) its RED!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration!
~Anna @ Rusty Cottage
That looks perfect there! It turned out great! Jen R
ReplyDeleteWow. I can really kick myself right now. I kept driving by a home with one of these cabinets(but larger) sitting on the porch with a for sale sign. I should have stopped to find out how much. Your cabinet is awsome. I'm sure you enjoy coming home from work and being surrounded by all your wonderful creations.
ReplyDeleteOH. MY. GOODNESS. I am in looove with this new cabinet, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the first photo. It fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteI think in your next life you would have much success revamping furniture for profit.
Love it! It is just beautiful! I am using firefox and see everything just fine.
ReplyDeleteIt looks Gorgeous!!!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you go to Tap plastics, you can get a plexiglass shelf and it would be much less expensive! I had to do that for the refrigerator. The big glass shelf shattered one day while I was cleaning it.....
Very nice!
Tember
YES !!!
ReplyDeleteA new look to go with your new cabinet. Your a sneaky devil you.
I like it , I like it.
Now stop buying the big things and shaming us all on how fast you can do it. HEHE.
Ciao
Cindy, someone once told me that my apartment was cluttered and I looked around and could not for the life of me see what he was talking about. I was very comfortable in my surroundings and after seeing how he lived I could see why he was uncomfortable with all my stuff. He barely had anything in his home. To each his own. I know if I came to visit you in your home I would feel comfy and cozy in your surroundings. In my eyes and it seems in everyones eyes who have commented your home is perfectly lovely.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Patty.
Absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you have the items displayed. Makes me want to go look for a cabinet and paint it white. The new look for your blog is beautiful too. It's blue on my screen. The old look was beautiful too, but I know it is fun to have a change now and then.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that even though you say you have a little apart with lots of furniture, your apartment just gets prettier? I love where you put it. And a perfect height with the stairs. My bonnet off to you. I can't believe the light in there. GORGEOUS! Wendy
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI use firefox and can see the blue. YOur blog looks wonderful and so does the cabinet. You did get a great deal for 50 dollars!
Wow Cindy, I haven't been blogging lately, I've had a very enjoyable time catching up on your last few posts. I love your new blog look! The cabinet is fabulous, you've done a wonderful job! Looking foward to see what you have in mind for the hydrangeas
ReplyDeleteLooks good, the new blog look and the cabinet. Can see you blueish background, I use Firefox. Rachaelxo
ReplyDeleteI love it white so much.. I can't believe you got this for 50 bucks, what a steal!!!!! I like the tray inside.. you should keep it there!
ReplyDeleteI love your cabinet and what a bargain!
ReplyDeleteI also love how much furniture you have in your apartment. My DH prefers a more minimalistic theme but I would love to decorate our home with more furniture :)
I AM JEALOUS @!@! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDelete~~ Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com
The new cabinet looks beautiful, I knew it would and you certainly didn't disappoint!
ReplyDeleteThe last few days I have been on my laptop and I did not see the new layout or any of your posts since the hydrangeas when I checked your site, but today I'm on my desktop and I see I missed a lot! Either way, I use Firefox so the browser is probably not the problem.
Cindy, Absolutely beautiful!! It looks wonderful in your Apartment.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Cindy, it is beyond beautiful. And I love how you arranged the accessories. I'm loving your new blog background!
ReplyDeleteCindy it turned out beautiful!! Again I have to say you do an amazing job with your painting! Love it.
ReplyDeleteHugs~Kelly
It looks wonderful! I don't know how you keep getting more stuff to fit without it looking crowded. I have a friend with a small home and she can do the same thing. It is a talent!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I love how that cabinet turned out. You have got the talent my friend.
ReplyDeleteI think your apartment is absolutely beautiful.
It looks fabulous! I cant believe it was only $50, and it has a light! You just have to be in the right place at the right time, how lucky are you!
ReplyDeleteI love the blog, though I liked your other one better, Im not good with changes!
My home would be a close second to yours, it is overloaded, and there are 5 of us, and my hubby is in a wheelchair! I just cant help it, I sell things on ebay, but when I do them up, I want to keep them for a while, crazy!
Sue
I don't care how much furniture you get in that apartment, it still looks beautiful. You can pull it off, Cindy. So don't worry about it. If we're not surrounded by the things we love, then it's not a home. It's not really the four walls; it's the stuff inside it that makes it our home.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I love this! The light inside? Is that wired up? Looks great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it....was the 'panel' look on the bottom painted on or real and how did you cover or didn't you?
ReplyDeleteI love where you put the knobs it balances much better that way.
Thanks again for all the inspiration.
If I can live through waiting for the 'sellers' to accept/counter our offer I can get to work on MY projects.
This is just beautiful and its perfect with your new dining table and chairs! So lovely with the picnic basket and hydrangeas on top! You sure have a talent with transforming furniture. I too love a room full of furniture and special things!
ReplyDeleteI really like the new background too! I am still on IE and can see it perfectly!
Kady
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteyour cabinet looks absolutly beautiful. What a great find. I am so bad at finding bargains and truly envy all the treasures you find and how you transform them.
Have a wonderful evening,
Tam
Your new blog design is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you transformed that cabinet. It looks so beautiful and with the light and all its very special. I can't wait to see the appliques on it.
Did you paint your table and your chairs also? What kind of paint do you use? You don't spray them do you?
Looks fabulous! Everything in your apartment is so light and airy that it all works together, I think! I noticed you changed some things around a bit, you'll have to post pics of the new layout!
ReplyDeleteOh, you need a bigger house!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good renters insurance policy! Pssst.... Can you tell I'm in insurance??? (-:
Love the cabinet. Spiffy!
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLooking good! It is so much better white. You did a great job painting it. The appliques will be even better. I'm interested in the plexiglass so if you get it tell about it. Thanks, Will watch for the finished piece. SandyT
So pretty! It looks like my Aunt Maggie's big white victorian home. As children, we would always shy away from going over because we were scared we would break something but she always had homemade cookies on hand to offer us... which were made with real butter and vanilla so we always went and sat very still. It was well worth it. (:
ReplyDeleteDo your kids live with you?
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cabinet. I love how you decorated it. I am going to use
your idea with the silver tray.
Thanks for inspiring me!
Andrea
Evening, Cindy!! Oh, your new blog look is so beautiful!! I can see your blue! Oh, how wonderful your cabinet has turned out and you've decorated it so loverly!! Your home is just gorgeous!! You're still my hero!!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Hi again Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI saw your question on my blog (thanks for looking!) about the problem I had seeing your page from my laptop - I could see it, but it appeared to be frozen in time on the Hydrangea post from a couple days ago, there were no new posts or comments and it was the old layout. I use Firefox on both PCs, but I just realized that I updated to the new version on my desktop, but not on my laptop, so maybe it has something to do with that? I will try updating and see if that works.
That cabinet is beautiful. I can't believe it's the same piece. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteCindy...your cabinet came out great! I know what you mean about not being able to fit another piece of furniture in...my rooms are about like that. LOL
ReplyDeleteSusan
I LOVE your new cabinet. It's simply lovely. I just love looking at how comforting your white color scheme is.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any trouble with your new blog design. It is absolutely romantic, feminine, and lovely.
BEAUTIFUL absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sher

ReplyDeleteYour apartment is a dream.
Bonnie
No, Cindy. I think the new page is stark, plain and cold. I loved your OLD homey blog look so much better but well, to each their own. If you like it, that is all that really matters. Right?
ReplyDeleteBy the way- that 4th picture (enlarged) looks like there is a victorian womans ghost in the window. Can you see it too?
FABULOUS CINDY!!! You are awesome!! And I love your new blog!! The background is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Amy
Cindy...it looks great! I love the new look of your blog too!

Such a beautiful cabinet! Great job!
ReplyDeleteCindy ~ your cabinet is turning out beautifully! I love that it's lit inside, so everything can really stand out. Can't wait to see it when it's fully finished.
ReplyDeleteCrystal
I am always amazed when I see your finished project. You are a true professional.
ReplyDeleteI love the cabinet and the hydrangeas.
Suzy
Oh, I knew there is something I forgot! I LOVE your new look! So soft and feminine. So cute!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day! Suzy
Love it - very nice! You do have a lot of furniture but it all looks great!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help laughing after reading the post some days ago about Frosty. That person must have come far from it's own interests when she even takes the time to comment on something she dislikes. Too much time to spend at the computer it seems LOL.
ReplyDeleteLovely cabinet. Yes, it seems you've got enough of furnitures in your home now. But it doesn't seem overcrowded.
Hope you have a nice weekend.
Love Elzie
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteOhhh the cabinet looks awesome. I like the new look. Hey it's your blog, and it's a nice change. Looks pretty blue on my computer.
I like how you arranged the other items of furniture.
Cindy, I like the new look of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious; could you tell me what font that is in your signature? Very pretty. (I'm kind of a font freak.) :D
Thanks,
Ffrankie
Love love the cabinet!
ReplyDeleteCindy, don't be put off when people unkindly comment. This is your blog, and as such should(and does) reflect you and your style.I love your blog...it's beautiful!
Carol
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteYou have a knack for finding the most gorgeous pieces at amazing prices!! That cupboard is beautiful. What fun!
Great cabinet - my first thought when you said you were out of space for anymore furniture was 'well, you'll have to move because we love seeing what you do with your finds!' but then I would miss that patio...do also miss the old blog design - this one is pretty though
ReplyDeleteCindy,
ReplyDeleteI like your new blog--it is classy.
I like the blue, it is a little pale, but thats what I like.
Sue
Cindy, I love your new background. The colors are perfect but then I love blue & white. Love your new cupboard. Glad you could fit one more piece in it.
ReplyDeleteCheryl
I can't wait to see it with the appliques. I have a few things I want to add them too~
ReplyDeleteWhere did you order yours from? I know there are a few main places online and on the bay, but have never ordered before.
$50!?!! You STOLE that girl!! Weeeeeeee!
