I was going to put out a couple 4th of July decorations and the next thing I know I've torn the whole house apart looking for red things. Finding anything red in my home is like looking for a needle in a haystack!!!
Now I'm going to be on the look out for some more red and white transferware for next year!
Notice that I added appliques to the hutch! You can click on any the photos to enlarge.
I hope all my American friends have a wonderful and safe Independence Day! I probably won't be posting here again until Monday.
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteWanted to wish you and your family
a happy 4th of July. It's great to
celebrate our independence and also
to have another day added to our
weekend.The picture of your child-
ren is adorable and also your
touches of red. Be safe and always
happy....Mimi
Well Cindy, I'm glad you tore the house up looking for red, this is a grand display! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look for some transferware as well!
Happy 4th!
Nikki
I love your decor.. I always LOVE the pics on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a nitpicky person with our flag though because of so many military people in our family. You have the one hanging on your hutch wrong. The stars should always be top left, whether it is hung horizontal or vertical.
Have a great day!!
Sallie

GREAT JOB ON THE APPLIQUES.IT LOOKS WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeleteGAH! You changed your feed from full feed to just the title so I have to click on it...please please please would you change it back?
ReplyDeleteI love those added appliques! You know just what something needs. Once again, I'm blown away. I shall have to get something to pin me down when I visit you! You are showing my colors! You can sure find red in my house. I probably need to limit it with some subtlety, more like yours. Looks more calming.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Wonderful transferware! Your hutch looks very patriotic!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of your children, they are adorable. Amazing how fast they grow, isn't it? Tomorrow is my Firecracker's 26th Birthday!!! lol.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sallie, thank you for reminding me about the direction of the flag. I changed it to the other side of my hutch but I'm going to leave the photos here rather than take and upload new ones....I hope that's not too bad???? I really didn't mean to be disrespectful at all!
ReplyDeleteyou make anything look gorgeous.come eveyday day just to see whats next... colleen
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! So you're playing on your holiday, huh? Everything looks so nice and your children are adorable! How sweet! Have a wonderful fourth of July!

That is a priceless pic of your children. Have a great 4th and enjoy the weekend. I don't think that there will be too many yard sales this weekend -- shucks!! Guess I'll have to go to HomeGoods and Marshall's on Saturday to pick up some 1/2 price 4th of July items. You'll probably do the same -- don't forget post pics of your great finds!! Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to you as well! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think you hutch looks great...just a thought...if you want more red for next year...have you ever considered just putting up some red and white patterned paper? Like scrapbooking stuff? You could easily add and take out, and I think with all the blue and white, you would get a very patriotic look....just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThe hutch is perfect! What better patriotic display than using your photo of your kids. Happy 4th,
ReplyDeleteJean in Va.
Cindy, It is just beautiful! The red sure does POP out. I love the applique on the hutch. I think that an applique would look pretty in your kitchen under your sink. I saw it on someone's blog but don't remember where.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy 4th of July,
ginger
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of your kids -- so cute! Hope you all have a very happy Fourth!

Pretty display in the hutch . Happy 4th to you too ! Sue
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had the same little blue and while polka dotted outfit! The hat was too cute! Happy and Safe Independene day to you and your family!
I LOVE the photo of your kids. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteThe appliques look perfect on the hutch. And, I think the few touches of red look fantastic. Since there are so few, they really stand out.

Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your past few posts:) Love your decorating and great ideas to cover the uglies. Also, the pic of you children, so cute:) I don't think I have any red either...oh wait, does a red dog leash count?? Thanks for the great pics on your blog. I'm still learning how to do that. Warmly, Deb
Happy 4th to you all too!
ReplyDeleteGreat decor!
Love what you did with the hutch and with your kid's picture. I was just in Hobby Lobby today looking at some of the 4th of July decorations. Everything just looked so tacky (sorry Hobby Lobby). This is a great example of how to get in the spirit of red, white and blue without going into an Americana nightmare. It gives me inspiration for next year!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to you too! Jen r
ReplyDeletei love that picture TOO! my three kiddos will be dressed in matching 4th of july outfits of course! can't wait...let the camera clicking begin! have a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteblessings!
That is a GREAT photo, Cindy!! And your hutch looks so beautiful! Happy 4th to you and yours...Donna
ReplyDeleteLove the photo. I recently painted my dining room cabinet. I wanted to do it for years but was inspired to paint it when I saw yours. I will have to take pictures one of these days. Enjoy your fourth!
ReplyDeleteSue
What a darling picture of your children. I also love the red and white transferware. I too am very drawn to that. Happy 4th.

Cindy
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying the fourth with you and yours!
Cindy -- I know you didn't :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a habit to correct it when I see it because my husband (a Marine) reminds me often of the correct way..many people just don't know. I know I didn't for a long time!
Happy 4th!!
God bless,
Sallie
Hi Cindy! Happy 4th!! I hope you have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Robin
Cindy...Happy 4th to you also. I was just perusing oversea blogs and saw yours listed as a favorite. I was wondering to you get a thrill when you see this like I did! http://lisbethsinlilleverden.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteMary, Yes that is pretty neat! I have hers listed as one of my favs too! Blogging sure has brought the world together hasn't it!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy - After seeing your photo from the Campbell farmer's market at Shades of Inspiration I came here to your blog. I'm a fellow south bay native having lived in Cupertino my whole life. It's been so much fun to see favorite haunts my friend, Lori (also a "lifer" here), and I regularly visit on your blog. Wysteria in Soquel is a never miss on our list when we're over the hill. Along with lunch at Gayle's of course! Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely gorgeous hutch. I love how you have everything stacked in there, it's just beautiful.
The picture of your kids is precious. And the flags with the dishes was a great idea! Happy 4th of july! (:
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, the decals look great on your hutch and what cute kids. Just wanted to pop over and wish you a happy 4th.

ReplyDeleteWow... everytime I come to "visit" you always have the loveliest pictures!! You really have an eye for decorating, & photography!!
ReplyDeleteA true inspiration!!
Beautiful Blessings~Kelly Maria
I haven't decorated for the 4th since my kids were little. Now that the grandbaby is getting old enough to notice, I think I might have to next year. I'll be scrounging around for reds too, not easy to find here either!
ReplyDeleteYour hunt was worth it, that looks lovely.
You will be amazed at all of the red you can find when you are looking. Well, maybe not in your home, but the stores are full of red things!!! My kitchen, and actually, most of my home, is accented with red. I used to be a pink and green girl, but switched to the darker colors a few years ago, the reds, browns, taupes. My bedroom is still pink and green, though.
ReplyDeleteYour hutch is beautiful. You did such a fantastic job. I have a little ole chair that I'm procrastinating about painting and when I see your masterpieces, I kick myself in the butt!!! Thanks for your inspiration!!
Cindy what a cute photo of your kids
ReplyDeleteAlison
Cindy, the pic of your children is adorable. Loved your patriotic vignette.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure you've posted it before, but I can't find it. What color of paint did you use on your yellow walls?
The yellow paint is Havanna Cream from Behr Paint!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy!
ReplyDeleteI love the red transfer ware mixed with the blue and white! But what I really love is that you are honoring our past and those that have sacrificed so much!
Liz
HI Cindy, Happy 4th! I've given you a furniture make-over award if you want to stop by and pick it up!
ReplyDelete:) Jen R
WONDERFUL BLOG! That's my 1st visit and I'm in love with the pretty things you have. Congratulations on the award! Blessings, Vanessa
ReplyDeleteHappy belated 4th of July Cindy! Love all the posts it was fun catching up! You have been busy girly!
ReplyDeleteMany hugs,
Robyn
P.S. Come and stop by my blog and say hello!
Love your hutch all decked out for the 4th! Very festive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Cindy! I love the photo of the kids... my favorite accessories are photos of my daughter. It has been a long time since I was here, I apologize for the long absence. My new job as an elementary principal became a little overwhelming at the end of school! I am looking forward to visiting you more and I hope you come to see me!
ReplyDeleteLove the bits of reds in with your blues! So pretty...
ReplyDeleteSo, I have a new plate that's a Betsy Ross plate and you have it next to your kids picture! I thought it was so unusual. My husband nicknamed me Betsy Ross a LONG time ago because I sew a lot. Plus, I love transferware. I see we like the same books also. I have all the same ones you've listed except the Susan Branch books. My parents live in Kansas City and I've been the Mary Carol Garrity's store in Atchison, KS. It's amazing and she is a sweetheart. I wonder if she has a blog. . . ? Love your stuff, Karen
