More thrifting luck!

Last weekend I stopped by the Goodwill which is right around the corner from me and I found this adorable little glass house for only $4.00! I love it! I also found the candle holder below for $7.00.
I couldn't resist those two adorable little birds! I brought it home and realized I don't have any place to put it! This may be one of the things I sell once I get my online store going...someday! I haven't done anything further with that because there's just not enought time!
When I came home from work yesterday my daughter was at her friend's house. I was a little angry because she forgot to unload the dishwasher like she was supposed to. I turned around and saw this on the chalkboard:
Hmmm...you think she did that so I wouldn't get mad at her for not doing what she was supposed to do? It's funny~ when your kids are young and leave you cute little notes like this it's so heart-warming. When your teenager leaves notes like this, you start wondering what's up! I'm trying hard to think positively and not question her motive!

  1. Don't question the motive, just give her a hug. My friend buried her 27 y.o. son today and I just want to hug my kids forever!!

There but for the grace of God...

  2. What beautiful finds from Goodwill! Teenagers are so hard to read. I'm having enough trouble with a 10 year old that the teen years are looking pretty scary!
    Good luck!

  3. If the note was written by my 14 yr old who "forgot" to do something I'd think there was a motive involved! LOL

  5. Cindy,
You have such a wonderful eye for choosing great things!

Why don't you offer the candle holder for sale through your blog, like Tina at Cherry Hill Cottage does? You might not even need an internet store, just your loyal readers!

As for Lauren, just give her a hug. And let her know that you had to empty the dishwasher.

  9. I won that very same glass house from Andrea's give away last year!!

Love the bird sconce! Why don't you sell from your blog? Have a weekly flea market or something like that - first want it gets it type of thing.

  11. What lucky finds!!!
Im sure if you keep them long enough, you will find that special place for them!
Yes teenagers, I have three, and as much as I get angry with them, I have to remind myself what I was like, and they just want to have fun, no commitments, and for you to love them anyway! I just say, I love them to bits, but sometimes dont like them!Though not very often!

Maybe outside when the weather warms up you could put out there and enjoy it.
I have a 21 year old son and I still don't get him.

I too have hit the mother load this last weekend and up in Healdsburg and Santa Rosa area.I put some of what I found on my site. There is a great antique shop up in downtown Santa Rosa called the Whistlestop and one further out call the Antique society. You may want to check those out some day. The are some old homes in the area that I am sure you would truly love.
    Stay dry.

  34. Excellent thrift finds! The shopping seems to be quite good lately. Usually, this time of year it's fairly quiet until April/May. Ah, well! Lovely items, congrats.

  35. Hey Cindy, I just noticed one of your advertisers, right across the top of the page -- Gladstone Country House. They are about 15 minutes away from my house, in the same town as my favorite thrift store. Wow!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  36. Hi Cindy, I'm here by way of the Cats on my Quilts blog. Love your little finds! On daughters...mine are 25 & 14 and they both still call me mommy. My son just hugs me more than he used to. It's a blessing, even if they've been naughty.
