Rearranging Furniture

This weekend I rearranged my living room. I usually have my couch under the mirror but I decided to move the birdhouse table under it. My dad made the table and the mirror! I think the birdhouse I have hanging on the wall next to it looks out of place but I'm not sure what to put there.
I moved the sofa out to the middle which divides the dining room from the living room nicely. I don't know why I bought a navy blue sofa. I really want to either make white slipcovers or have someone make them for me. Both of those involve time and money~ which I have neither of. When I bought the sofa I was thinking I was going to decorate more in a nautical cottage feel. I changed my mind on that! I hung a blue and white toile throw on the back of the sofa to lighten it up.
I planted this amaryllis bulb in a huge terracotta pot and it didn't look good so I wrapped it in a white pillowcase and tied a ribbon around it. Not perfect but it looks better than it did!
I love the soft colors of this "Apple Blossom" amaryllis!

It's so hard to get good pictures in the winter! We've had rain for the last couple weeks and my apartment is always dark! I can't wait for Spring!

  4. Cindy,

I can't say thank you enough for the detailed pictures of your home. We too live in a rental and it's sometimes difficult to make it look homey because you can't do everything you want to do.

Thank you for the inspiration to make our space as beautiful as possible!

    Many Blessings,
    Melissa

  9. Oh don't you just love rearranging the furniture? And the accessories, too? I guess it's our grown-up way of playing house. I love your Appleblossom amaryllis -- that's my favorite color. I'm longing for spring, too! :)

  11. Hi Cindy
I know what you mean about winter making your place dark...my home has such a different atmosphere when the sun shines in the windows..
but, for now, we have to make the best of our candles and lights (lovely chandelier by the way)
I think your lounge looks lovely, I am forever changing my furniture around, keeps me loving my things, and I don't get bored!

  12. Nice job on the rearrange. I have a green couch that I too would like to recover with something different. I wish I was handy with a sewing machine then perhaps I could make my own.
At least your not afraid to paint. I have painted, and then I need to paint. Don't have the motivation I wish I did.
I think the bird house on that wall looks fine from the pictures.
Maybe you'll be in a thrift shop and see something, or an antique shop, or just marshalls.

  13. The birdhouse table looks great under the mirror! I like re-arranging things too. I think I've moved my couch just about everyplace it could possibly go in the LR which isn't much! What about just buying a Surefit slipcover for your sofa for the time being?

  14. Hi Cindy,
I saw the other day that Tuesday Morning has Mercury Apathacary jars. It sorta looks like you may have one in one of your pics. They are sooo gorgeous... but not as easy to see inside. Not sure if I will get one, or wait to find a clear glass one.
But as always, I love, love, love your home!

  20. Cindy,

Love the birdhouse table under the mirror. The living room looks great! I like the couch there, it divides the space nicely. Maybe in the meantime before you can get a slipcover, you can pick up a chenile bedspread and cover the couch with that. I used a double on my couch. I used an off white. Gave the room a different look, kind of cottagy. I bought mine on e-bay.

  21. Beautiful. Maybe put some trailing ivy in the birdhouse on the wall by the mirror. . . with pieces trailing down and out.

As usual, you amaze me. I want to rearrange my sun room now too. I love the silver coffee service you have on your birdhouse table. I have been thinking about finding one for display among my treasures too.

    Thanks for the inspriation.

  24. Cindy, I love your photos. Your home is so beautiful, and couches used to break up a room are my favourite. I have done the same in nearly every room I have placed a couch.

  25. So nice. Your home is lovely and I love to see what you've done. I love to rearrange but am limited by the size of most of my rooms and the number of doors in some of them. Thank you for sharing your beautiful things - you are an inspiration. ~Adrienne~

  27. Every thing looks just beautiful. I think the dark sofa grounds your room nicely. Your arrangement is really nice...I, too, love changing my furniture around but I don't do it often. Too much work and I'm getting lazy in my older age! lol

  28. Good job on the rearrange! I shuffled my living room around for four months, and was so glad I did. Also, I think the toile throw works well with the blue couch, it does soften it. I think it works well in the room, but I have a soft spot for white slipcovers. Our couch is sage green, and I really wish I could go back in time and pick another color!

  29. What a cosy living room you got. It feels very inviting.
I too long for spring. Don't think we have it here for many months yet, though. I've ordered some seeds so hopefully it'll come sooner than I expect LOL.
