About a week ago, my daughter and I were coming home from shopping and noticed these chairs sitting out on the curb in front of someones home with sign that said "FREE". I slowed down to look at them and once I saw how dirty they were I almost left without even getting out of my car. I decided if they were painted white they would be better than what I had so I threw them in the car. This past weekend I primed them and recovered the cushions. I still need to paint them but I wanted to share the transformation with you. I didn't want to spend any money of fabric so I used a fabric shower curtain that I had bought awhile ago and never used. It was just large enough to cover the 4 chairs. Are you ready to see the "Before" picture....

Another great job. What a difference a little paint and fabric can make. Love the whole table setting.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Are those butter plat plates on the lower corner of the tiered table? I have a huge collection of those. Love them, love them.
ReplyDeletecarousel222: Those are coasters. I've had those for years. I think they were made by Hallmark.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job Cindy. Those chairs were just meant for your paint treatment, ah those little carvings will be wonderful. BTW, how are your paperwhites coming. Mine are budded, but have not developed any roots. Hopefully they will be stable despite the lack of roots to root them in the gravel. I can't imagine that Martha would let us down, can you?

Absolutely lovely! Painted white, the chairs have such a feminine flair about them. The blue fabric is very nice--who would have ever guessed it was a shower curtain?
ReplyDeleteWow Cindy - that is amazing!! You have such an eye for what things "can" be.

ReplyDeleteAlison

ReplyDeleteRhoda
Another great transformation! I wish I spotted chairs like those on the side of the road! I never see goodies like that. Lucky you!!
ReplyDeletePenny
What an amazing transformation! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove free stuff! I'm always surprised at what people throw away - the old saying is so true "one man's trash is another man's treasure". Paint covers a multitude of sins and is an inexpensive fix. Love what you've done to your chairs. Thanks for adding me to your blog list and taking the time to stop by my new blog - Merry Christmas - Judy
ReplyDeleteWoweeee! What a terrific find! You REALLY hit the jackpot this time. Love the beautiful curves and carving detail on the chairs. You could have told me you paid a couple hundred dollars PER chair and I would have believed you because they look so great after the makeover! Once again, fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic job you've done on the chairs Cindy, chairs aren't my favourite things to paint, so many bits to get into. Good thinking of the shower curtain!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in LUCK, but you are BLESSED to find such beautiful chairs! WOW! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find, they look fabulous. Rachael:)
ReplyDeleteGreat chairs. I would have taken them too.

Loving the chairs. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, Cindy what a great find. You are like the fairy Godmother transforming all things shabby into beautiful things!
ReplyDeleteOnce again I am amazed at your findings! They turned out wonderfully!:o) I think about your finds when I am thrifting & just shake my head wondering why I am not able to find such treasures on our curbside, or on our craigslist, or in our thrift stores. I live on the east coast, but it makes me just want to come on over and go shopping with you out on the west coast. You do such a beautiful job with all your items. I really love the 2 tier table you found. What kind of glaze are you going to put on it, or are you going to use one? Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas, Kim
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow. You are gifted. Truly. They look fantastic! And free! That's awesome!
ReplyDelete~Angela :-)
What a great find! Good for you and your elbow grease!
ReplyDeleteWow, what beautiful transformation. And, we can see your newest little table in the background. It turned our lovely too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sher
They are beautiful! You are so lucky you can have all that white. I have a red checked tablecloth becasue a certain 23 yr. old son has to have hotsauce on his cereal practically (kidding) and never seems to quite hit the dish! I could never get away with white....ah...maybe someday..........
ReplyDeleteOnce again, a fabulous transformation from trash to treasure!
ReplyDeleteGreat job...love the transformation! Free is my favorite price!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Robin
Great Grab! The chairs have good bones. Are you going to glaze them?
ReplyDelete~elaine~
Those chairs look very french country. They look really pretty painted white! I'm always amazed at what paint can do!
ReplyDeleteManuela
Beautiful! Amazing what some white paint and a bit of fabric can do to transform and 'ugly duckling'. Glad you took the chairs. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteI love those chairs.... what a find !
ReplyDeleteEverything you do has a wonderfulness to it. These are lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou find the best things! I think the chairs will look wonderful when you finish painting them - they already look great. I've been experimenting with rub-on gold (it smells like shoepolish, it doesn't exactly "glide" on, but it looks spiffy as an accent when I get it on just right). Will you do something to highlight the carving?
ReplyDeleteWow! Very, very impressive. You have a great eye for "what it can be".
ReplyDeleteMimiG
Great transformation! I love the chairs. "One man's junk is another man's treasure"! How lucky for you! The fabric looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteDonna :)
Cindy you are a magician. I wish I could look at things and see them as you do.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! What a great transformation.
ReplyDeleteYou just have the best luck, or should I say the sharpest eye for these things. What a find!

Cindy, those chairs are absolutely gorgeous. Although the "Before" they were a tini bit rough around the edges, the beauty could still be seen. They were screaming to you to refinish them. Now they are outstanding. Great job.
ReplyDeleteCindy you have an amazing talent for decorating!!
