I bought this beautiful candy jar at Marshalls. It was only $14.99! I put some lemons in it for now because I didn't have any candy. I plan to group it together with some other jars I have and fill them with different Christmas candies during the holidays. I got this idea from Debbie (remember Debbie....who sent me the beautiful lined basket and heart awhile ago.)
Debbie sent me pictures of her beautiful jars filled with candy. I'll post her pictures tomorrow. Once you see them you will be out buying candy jars too! Thank you for the great idea Debbie!
Updated to add: Since 3 people asked how I get the blurred edges around my photos I thought I would put this information here. I use Adobe Photoshop. If you have Adobe Photoshop follow these instructions....I use the elliptical marquee tool to make an oval around the photograph, then I go up to "filter" then choose "blur" then select "lens blur" and make sure you click the "invert" box so the outside is blurred and not the center. That's all there is to it.
If you don't have Photoshop and you don't want to pay to get it (it's expensive), I think there are some free photo software packages on the internet. I don't know what they are but I'm sure someone who reads my blog can leave a comment and let everyone else know.
This is so pretty! My sister and Mom rave about Marshalls but I have never been there! Looks like a good place to find treasures! How do you get your pictures fuzzy on the edges? Is it software on your computer? I love the effect.
ReplyDeleteI like your new candy jar. I remember your Lemon Jar with the ribbon...I have a little candy jar that I added the ribbon to, after seeing how sweet your's looked. I find myself adding ribbon to more and more things around my house. It's great that we can all get ideas from ea other....

What a charming jar! And I love the soft focus on the photo edges. How do you do that? Enquiring minds want to know! ~A :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like this jar. It is beautiful with the lemons, but can't wait to see it with candies too!
ReplyDeleteI love coming here, you house is so what I want mine to look like when I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask the same question cottage mommy asked, the fuzzy picture effect?
Very pretty! Those jars are handy for lots things!

Love it! It's probably a good thing not to put candy in it, too much temptation, at least for me.LOL It looks good with lemons.
ReplyDeleteLooks sweet! I like it filled with lemons. There are so many options for a beautiful jar like that. I have a fall centerpiece made up of those jars filled with pumpkins orange gummies and candy corn. I did a post on it a while back. I always pick the jars up at Estate Sales really cheap. Be sure to check out Michaels sometime for those apothecary jars, too. You can use your 40% coupon and they are taking Joanne coupons these days, as well. Fun!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, I found your blog....ummm...now I can't remember where I wandered over from...doesn't matter though. I loved reading your blog and I definitely need to find me some of those jars. Come see me ~ Lynn

ReplyDeleteI keep seeing those candy jars at Marshall's and Homegoods, and I love them! I can't wait to see all of them grouped together. They would probably look great with nuts or berries at my house!
ReplyDeleteI read about some software to help place bids on ebay at the last minute. It's at esnipe.com. The article was in the Nov. issue of House Beautiful.
Have a great weekend.

picasa is a free program that will do some basic editing of photos. Still trying to get up the courage to paint my table white.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great jar and it will look fantastic grouped with your others and filled with candies. I had to tell you - I just repainted my china hutch white and while it was a lot of work, it came out great! I kept thinking of your redos and how the efforts would pay off. Thank you so much for all of your creativity and inspiring ideas.
Hugs,
Dena
