I'm ready for Christmas!

I know it's not even Halloween yet but my mind is on Christmas! It's my favorite time of the year! If I were rich I would decorate my tree with all Christopher Radko ornaments because I just love them. Click here to see more of his beautiful ornaments. I have one of his that I treasure. I have been extremely busy at work lately. You know that feeling when you feel like you're being buried alive...well that's how I feel. I being buried with a load of paperwork. My company had layoffs awhile ago and now I've acquired partial duties of two employees that left. We also had a new Director transfer back and I'm now supporting him. I now have my job and 3 more on top of it! I can't complain though, because at least I have a job. I don't know what I would do if I got laid off! I've been laid off twice and it's not fun when you are the sole bread winner. It's all part of living in the Silicon Valley I guess.

I STILL have not received my Victoria Magazine. I'm hoping it's in the mail today! This is torture!

  1. Oh! I agree his ornaments are wonderful. I once watched a show where he decorated someone's home for Christmas. They had three people to choose from for the job and picked him-who wouldn't !
Sorry things are so busy for you at work, hope you get some time to have fun soon. I woke up this morning thinking of Christmas- so funny with pumpkins still to be craved ! Have a happy Day :)

  2. His ornaments are really pretty! But I just can't think of Christmas just yet :)

Sounds like you have alot going on at work right now. Layoffs are tuff - for the people that lost their jobs and for the people that stay and now have to do more work. But as you say, it's good you still have a job.

  3. Cindy, I'll be cheeringo on Christmas right along with you in a few weeks. IT's my very favorite Holiday too! Those Radko ornaments are so pretty..I have none of them though.
I've been through several layoffs myself, so I can sympathize with that. Hang in there!

  4. They are lovely ornaments, aren't they? We gave our kids an ornament each year, so now our tree is full of funky animals and santas and angels, none of which match!

Sorry to hear you're so busy at work, but glad to know that it's not something worse. I was beginning to get worried when you didn't post since Thursday. :)

Hope that Victoria comes soon -- you sound like you could use it!

  6. WHEW...glad to hear things are ok with you.
I am so in the Christmas mood, too.
I put my tree up the day after Thanksgiving so it is time to drag out my "stuff".
    Have a sunshine day!

  8. I was just looking at his ornaments the other day and somebody named Jim Shore at a Christmas store. I need a few new ornaments this year and am unfamilar with what's out there. Thanks!

  9. I love Christopher Radko ornaments too! I have a few. My main tree is decorated entirely with blown glass ornaments.

UGHH! Work sounds really hard right now. I hope things get better soon!

  10. Cindy,
I bet if they didn't give the pay of 3 extra people... that would have made it a little more bearable. I have so been there and understand. I just pray you could earn a living using your creative talents it's just a crying shame to put you in a cubicle...

  12. I love Christopher Radko ornaments too! They can be quite pricey at our local gift and collectible shops, but I bought a bunch over the years at Marshalls for quite a steal. They didn't have any last year, but I always watch out for them.
Good luck with your job and hope your Victoria arrives soon. I've already got mine and I know you'll love it.

  15. Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear that they laid off people and piled the extra work on you. Yes, it is good to know you have a job and it's definitely something to be grateful for, but it sucks that they are taking advantage of you. Hang in there and I hope things get better for your company, so they can hire extra people or at least give you a healthy pay raise to compensate you for all your extra work.

  16. Hi Cindy!
There is something quite special about Radko's isn't there? I started collecting them a few years back and just kept adding one or two each year. Most of mine are the medium size ones since they can get quite large. I also have had 2 tree disasters of it falling over, and lost some. For a while I wouldn't buy any more. Now I tie that dang tree extremely well to the wall!

I'm sorry to hear there is so much stress at work. Please remember to take care of YOURSELF first and relax as often as you can.
Hey you don't want to be too tired to decorate for Christmas now do you!

  17. Those ornaments are gorgeous. Do you do your tree in traditional colors or do you try to stay with the "blues"?

  18. Nan, I use the traditional colors on my tree. It's a mixture of ornaments that I have collected for almost 30 years.

Once I did a tree for my dining room in another home that was just blue and white. I used cups and saucers and small plates to decorate it. It was really pretty. I just don't have room in my place now to do that now.

  19. Hi Cindy,

I agree that it's better to be buried alive than go through a layoff but it's still hard when your workload is overwhelming. I hope things calm for you soon.

    Hugs,

  20. I love Radko ornaments. No one else in my family does, though, so I just have a few sprinkled here and there. My friend has a whole tree of them and it is gorgeous.

  21. I love Christmas too. Those decorations are adorable.

  22. Love the Christmas ornaments. I have a couple of the Radko pieces, and I just love them! We're going through layoffs again at my work, so I know how you feel - less people doing more work!

  23. Oh I feel like that sometimes at my job. Then I remember how I begged God to give me a job closer to home and more pay and then I get thankful all over again.

  24. Cindy,

I like Christopher Radko but don't own any. I usually have a Victorian tree with lace stuff, and lots of pinks and cream colors. I make the prettiest ornaments out of white lace hankies. so pretty and feminine. Let me know if you would like to see them, and will send you some pics, and tell you how to make them. Hope all is well with you, and that you and family are safe. Sorry you have so much extra work. I know how that goes when they downsize or someone is out.

  25. Cindy I cannot believe you have not received your magazine...I wish I could loan you mine, or you could come over for coffee and we could read it together. On a happier note, I love your Christmas ornaments but it is a little too early for me. I appreciate you being glad you have a job. My company sold a couple of months ago and the new company offered me a job. It is a big adjustment but at my age I'm thankful I have employment. At least that's what I tell myself every morning when the alarm goes off. Like you I am my sole support so it is really important. Here's hoping you get your Victoria soon.

  27. Hi Cindy,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am back online now with a new computer. On top of the fires, wedding plans etc. my computer died.
So sorry your work load is so heavy right now. I love those ornaments. I can't believe you haven't gotten your Victoria yet.

  28. Hi Cindy,
I am visiting your blog often and I know you live in California. So are you ok considering the fire? I hope you are not close to that area and that you are fine and safe.

  29. Oh Cindy! I am SO excited to Christmas on your blog.....I am itching to get through Halloween so I can get out my Christmas stuff this year! I told my Hubby that I am decorating early this year!

My goodness...soon you'll be able to go to the store and read that Victoria issue!
    Blessings,

  30. I think about Christmas every day! Over the years I have collected items to decorate and make mine a 'Christmas house' for the holidays. The story of how Christopher Radko started his ornament business is heart warming. I have Radko nativity ornaments of the Holy Family and of the shepherds, angels, etc.
Won't it be fun to visit blogs sites in a few weeks when everyone is decorating for the holidays?
