I bought these two lamps at the thrift store a few months ago for $7 each. They have been sitting in the corner of my bedroom for months waiting to be painted. Finally last weekend I got around to spray painting them. It's hard to tell in these pictures but they have leaves and roses. They'll do for now... until I find another set I like better! The pretty lampshade is from Target!I also painted this little frame white and then antiqued it a bit and added some green and blue Rub N Buff paint on it. The frame was only $2 at a thrift store. It was pretty painted gold, just not my style.
This cute picture of my son Vince has a funny story behind it (funny now but it wasn't then). My son's dad left me for another woman the week my son turned 2 years old. It was the hardest thing I've ever been through...he moved out on Christmas Eve and moved in with the woman he was having an affair with. They ended up getting married after our divorce was final and this picture is from THEIR wedding. My son was in their wedding! The strange thing is, my ex-Mother-in-Law gave me this picture! Why would she think I would want a picture from my ex husband's wedding to the other woman...the woman he was seeing when we were married???? Very strange...oh well, it doesn't bother me any more and early on I accepted the fact that she was my son's step mother and if he had to have a step mother she was a really great one and still is even though his dad divorced her and married wife #3. I don't hold grudges so I get along with the ex, his ex and his wife. Confused? Well I won't even get into my second husband and how that all ended....
Very pretty lamps :)
ReplyDeleteThe pic of my napkin holder is up.
Ah, so I guess a picture IS worth a thousand words? Isn't it funny how we can look at an item, a photo, or even a cup or saucer and immediately "the story" of it goes flooding through our minds? I love how that works. I love your lamps and the new frame and your cute son. Having been married twice myself and being friends with everyone still, I totally understand where you are coming from. You're a doll!
ReplyDeleteFirst off - I LOVE the lamps painted white and thought they looked so awful in gold that I would have never thought that a simple coat of paint could change them so much!
ReplyDelete..and as for the little soap opera...we all have one. People who don't admit to it, have more to hide! snicker snicker!
First of all..I can't believe anyone would leave you for another woman...you are so pretty! I understand completely where you are coming from...my sister and my brother both just re-married. They have some interesting stories to tell. The children are the ones that suffer.
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp makeovers. They look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe frame as well. Your son looks just precious in the photo:-).
Have a great day!

Your lamps and frame turned out beautifully...you find the best bargains!!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamps-you did a great job on them. Love the picture of your son despite the circumstances. Good for you for moving on and getting along with all parties involved. I lead a dull life compared to you I think!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamps and all your recent treasures! I am so sorry about that table...I guess we all have one of those great finds that got away huh?
ReplyDeleteWell, the picture of your son is such a good one...he looks so handsome, just precious in his tux. You have the most wonderful attitude and oh how your children appreciate it I am sure.
I grinned when I saw the comments about how silly he was to leave someone as beautiful as you! I must say I agree with that whole heartedly!
We all have stores like that or have someone close to us that does.
Not everyone has the wonderful attitude that you do. You are a sweetheart!
Hugs,
Sue
Hi Cindy, love the lamps, they look great after their makeover. Your home looks gorgeous. Had to laugh at you story about your Ex. Mine is a little like that, only he never remarried, but she left him anyway. And I got to marry someone who is my soulmate, so I had the last laugh.
ReplyDeleteCome over and visit sometime.
Coll :-}
Oh, I love the lamps and so happy to hear when someone scores a deal like that. !
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny and obviously a VERY nice person to be so accepting of all that!!
ReplyDeleteYour little boy is gorgeous and so are the lamps. If you find some you like more, you can send these my way!! :)
Love your blog,
Linda
Love the lamps and the frame! Great idea. I have some gold frames and love them but not in gold, and hadn't been quite sure what to do with them. I love your antiquing idea. And of course, now I'm dying to know about the 2nd husband... ~A :-)
